I tried the SE5 (outgoing style) on the rear in a 2.6 and had clearance issues with the chainstays under compression (take offs, landings, cornering). If running a 2.6 in the back, be sure to listen for the tire buzzing the frame. Trek state the max tire width on the frame is 29x2.5 but manufacturers vary in actual width.
currently i have 2.5 on both bikes front and rear. I am going to do 2.6 up front once these are shot. any little extra bump in control and grip helps. only down side is added weight.
For sure! This will be my first 2.6” tire. I haven’t even been able to get out on the trails and ride them yet 🤦🏼♂️ sucks I didn’t make it out while you were here bro
I’m running the opposite lately - 2.6 in the rear and 2.5 up front. I feel like the back is more stable and gives more traction and power and up front I can pick through chunk more precisely. I felt that 2.6 on the front was tough to maneuver through chunk. I’m liking the setup a lot
Hey Jared, Thanks for the Info. I am running 2.6 on my Trek Fuel right now and was thinking of running the same setup as yours. In need of new tires soon.
Hey Jared I'm running 24x2.00 on my 24 inch mountain bike, and I'll have to say they're awfully good tires. The bike I have them on is a Huffy Night Hawk mountain bike. Huffy recommended 2.25 on the frame but I decided on 2.00 for plenty of clearance. I like the fact that the tires don't make a lot of noise compared to knobby tread tires that were on the bike when I got it. Don't know if they were the original tires that came with the bike when it was new or not but I replaced them with the Maxxis tires ( Don't know the name of them other than that they're Maxxis). The ride is a lot smoother and better with those tires on it. Really made a noticeable difference.
@@JaredHoff you got that right. Bicycle tires make a world of difference depending on what brand they are. I had Continental tires on a road bike I had until someone came along and stole it from me off my front porch. Continental tires are good tires too. Don't get me wrong on them. Maxxis and Continental tires are the best tires you can get for your road, hybrid or mountain bike.
Just bought 2 High Rollers 26x2.35 , I'm still riding 26" Trek 2012 6500 series 6 Hardtail in beautiful blue and white , Trek frame geometry always amazing, she handles like a racing car ❤ 🇺🇸TREK 4 LIFE USA 🇺🇸 USA 🇺🇸 USA 🇺🇸 💪 stay cool 😎 bro 👊
Thank you for this helpfull information i will for sure be looking at posibaly a full 2.6 setup or 2.6 front and 2.5 rear so i can slide in to corners more love your videos keep the awsome content comming
Hey nice video. I’m wondering what maxxis size would be best for my Trek Fuel Ex (5) 2022 because the internal rim is 35 MM and the website says that the maximum tire size is 29 by 2.6, but people say that the 29 by 2.5 WT or WIDE TIRE are better and even the 2.4 WT rather than the 2.6, but I want to fit the biggest tire I could get with what I said so what do you reccomend? I also want to run a trail combo so I’m thinking DHRII in the back and DHF in the front or DHF in the front and perhaps the Discector in the back Thanks in advance!
2.6 is the widest tire I’d ever run up front. I like a 2.4 in the rear and a faster rolling rear tire, like the dissector, is what I’ve been liking lately as well.
@@JaredHoff Thank you for the reply. Your channel is great for people trying to upgrade / make their bike better suited for different riding styles. I’m going to end up going with 2.6 on both ends going with a dissector and possibly assegai or DHF up front
I am planning to go to exactly the same tyres on my Slash 8 2021 as you did. What si your experience concerning rear tyre and it's clearance after few months of riding it? Any issues?

I’ll definitely pay attention to that. I’m sure 2.6” isn’t the same width on all tires.

Thanks man! I’be always loved the Assegai / DHR II combo 🤙🏻

A good set of tires makes all the difference 👍🏻 Stoked for you!

Glad to have helped in any way. Thanks for watching!
On hardtail Banshee Paradox V3 front schwalbe magic marry 29x2.8, back big betty 27.5x2.8.
Sounds like the perfect Hardtail setup. As long as the rear tire doesn’t rub when you’re riding
I know this is a yr old but did going to a 2.6 effect climbing performance??
Yes. The wider tire means more grip and more resistance for rolling speed. I’m currently riding 2.4 rear specific tire and 2.6 front tire

My new bike came stock 29*2.6 front and rear .
@@chip9832 nice 👍 My Polygon T9 did as well, but the rear tire was too wide. I’m back to running 2.5 front and 2.4 rear.
So can you put a 2.3 on a 2.20 wheel?

No issues at all with the clearance I even rode it at a bike park recently and was smashing down some pretty gnarly trails never had any issues 🤘🏻
Do you know of these would fit a 29 mm internal rim?
I’m not 100% sure, but I’m no longer riding 2.6 tires. I like a 2.4 rear 2.5 front
1k subscribers 🎉🎉🎉
Do they fit propane tyee?
Not sure about that specific frame. But I’m actually back to riding a thinner 2.4” tire in the rear and liking that better.
26inch width tires ???
I tried it once. Now I’m back to riding a 2.4” rear tire. I like 2.6” front tire though.
Sick
Thank you 🙏🏻 🤘🏻🤙🏻
Is your rim 30mm?
Yes
