Thank you for this video! I used your tips yesterday to groom my poodle mix. Saved time and he looks so cute! I only ever clipped our Wire Fox Terriers before and didn’t really know how to shape the head, face and feet. This is so helpful!
Tomorrow I will be using clippers for the first time on my Shih Tzu & I am so glad you posted this video. Thank you for all your instructional videos. I especially appreciate that you kept the video at normal speed. I am a total novice, but am excited to learn & thankfully have a sweet, patient dog to learn on!
I have the Wahl km-10 as well and the stainless attachment comb kit. I was told by Wahl that I can use the 10 blade that comes with the clippers for the snap on the combs. What does the 30 blade offer? What’s wrong with just using the 10 blade? They said it has a wider tooth so might go they the coat easier? Do you use finishing blades for the body as well? I was told to get the 5f and 7f
For a newbie (me) and my aussiedoodle I think my groomer uses an Andis pro Clip with a 0 or 000 blade with a 1 inch comb for my dogs body. I wanted about an 1 inch length left. Does this sound right? I will still use groomer just want to extend visits another 2 weeks. Wonderful videos you have made... Thank you so much for replies from anyone.
Hi, thanks for your videos, I really enjoy how you talk all the way through, love it. I just have a question about comb guides. I have the set in the link shown. I do get confused by the numbers the combs are called. You are using a orange one on body which you said was a number 1 and yellow one on legs is a number 0. On the combs I have the orange one is a number 4 and yellow is a number 3 which is on the black plastic of comb - so can I just clarify the number verses colour please. Thank you.
Good video thank you! One suggestion if I may, can you add some light on the dog so we can see more clearly as you cut. Thank you for teaching us, it’s greatly appreciated!!
So I have a 7 mo 0ld black standard poodle == i tried a wahl human clipper and tried to get down for a 1/2 inch -- didn't even touch it and kept clogging up -- any ideas -- ? - The video is great
Hi, I am not familiar with the human clippers. Perhaps its not powerful enough to go through dg hair or the coat isn't clean enough or brushed and combed thoroughly. If the coat was washed and combed out properly then it may be several reasons such as a dull blade or the blade needed to be oiled or it may be your technique. Its really hard to say as I cant see or hold the clipper. Comb the coat thoroughly and try again. Its recommend purchasing a dog clipper and see if that helps.
love your videos - you are so informative and easy to follow - I am a new groomer and sucking up as much info as I can - are the Wahl comb guards a universal colour coding system as their numbering system doesnt match what you are using - thanks heaps
I wish s/one could show me the different cuts with the certain combs achieve on dog clippers I like my female Shih Tzues to have a good little bit of coat an we are in Ireland so it's cold most of the time an I have no idea what am doing.. Just wish I knew more about the combs an what they can achieve
I love your grooming videos! Thank you so much for sharing all these awesome and informative videos. For some reason I just can't seem to get the tuck up correct so hopefully I will find one on your site
This is an answer to our prayers! we recently lost our wonderful groomer. she would allow our bouvier who has bad hips and shoulders to lie down while she groomed her. she truly understood our big girl and was quite kind. we know our girl can't go to a groomer any longer and have been searching for a video just like this and here it is, complete with a bouvier! thank you so very much!! do you have suggestion with respect to the type of shaver (brand) and most common blades and combs to use? would you also please list the combs and blads you used in the description? thank you!
Hi, I love and use these clippers daily amzn.to/2PCqJl8 I used a 1 comb attachment on the body amzn.to/2PFpBNJ I used a O on the legs amzn.to/2PEHYCs I used a A comb attachment on the head and face. I can't find the link to just the A comb but here is the set amzn.to/2NlFx6g For a short shave down a 7f is good amzn.to/2P8B8nQ
Can you do me a favor and I’m new with grooming my pet and now all the grooming stores are closed and may you tell me what number comb I can use for the head, legs, and body but I have blade #10. Can you let me know if I need to buy another blade? Thank you.
Hi, a 30 is a closer cut then a 10. I think I misunderstand your first question. Do you have the comb attachments that attach to the blade? If you do then a 30 blade is best to use under the comb. The combs come in different lengths so it depends on what length you want. What kind of dog do you have?
Hi thank you so much for your videos! I'm about to start grooming my maltese myself since the quarantine started my baby needs it! I do have a question though, alot of the clippers I'm seeing online have an angled tapered attachment, where would I use that or would I even need to?
Great video! I just ordered all the equipment to groom my Teddy Bear dog due to Covid 19 but will keep doing it myself from now on. Why do some people set the length of the cut with different blades and others do that using a comb set?
One thing no one seems to answer is what blade do you use with the comb attachments? Given the comb is setting the length does it matter if you use a 10, a 7, or whatever?
When using any clipper comb. What’s the difference between a 10 blade versus a 30 blade? Will a 10 blade with a #1 guard or any guard be shorter then with a 30 blade?
Hi, a number 10 blade would leave the hair a bit longer than a 30 as 30 blades cut closer than a 10. I find that the 30 works best over a 10 but you can give it a try.
Love of Grooming I was looking at the KM10 clippers on Amazon. At the bottom of the screen it was recommending a 30 blade, clipper comb and clippers for $230 ish. It will pay off in the long run. My puppy’s coat grows back faster then my previous dog.
Great videos! You are so quick at grooming (you’ve obviously been doing this for a while!) I have been grooming my two dogs for a while and just came across your RUclips channel as I was looking for tips in different areas of the grooming process. I liked the finish look you got from the thinning “chunkers”, as you called them. Can you give me a link to which ones they are? That would be a great tool to add to my arsenal of equipment.
Hi and thanks for your videos they are incredibly helpful. I do have a question as i am also new to grooming. I understand that using the comb attachment gives an even cut all over but i thought using just a standard blade like a 7f for example would still give you the even length too? Can you clarify why one may be better than the other? Thank you!
Hi, with the longer comb attachments you can leave the coat longer than if using a blade. Blade leave one length all over as well but they cut differently. The combs in my opinion give a nicer finish. Hope this helps. Any more questions just ask, I am happy to help.
Hi, these are the clippers that I use amzn.to/2UR2gO1 It's usually the blade that burns the dog, not the clipper. The blade can get hot so it's best to have two blades of the same size and switch the blade when hot. Also use a blade spray to keep the blade cool and moving smoothly like this one amzn.to/2UPEJgr Also if the blade is full it can burn the dog. Hope this helps.
Hi, this is a wonderfully imformative video, the best I've seen. You're a superb groomer. I have two questions and hope you can find the time and be kind enough to answer them. Can I use the Wahl snap combs with an Andis clipper and blades? Also what type of metal comb are you using? Thanks in advance.
Hi, thanks for the compliment. Yes you can use the Wahl attachment on the and is clippers, just make sure to never use a 40 blade. I use 30 blades, a 10 or 15 blade could be used also. I am using a greyhound comb. amzn.to/2G9MYNn
I know this may sound stupid, but when you use those clippers.. is it like when you shave your legs? or do you need to leave a little space from the dogs skin to the fur? im just scared that i might cut her.
Great question! Most blades allow space from the dogs skin to the fur. The shorter the blade the closer to the skin. #10,15,30, and 40 blade are very close to the skin, these blades are used mostly on poodles faces, feet and tail base. However these blades are used under the comb attachments which leave the coat longer. If you need to shave your dog short because of matting I recommend taking him to a groomer and then you can maintain the coat after. Any blade can cut the skin. If you use the blade properly and have confidence in using the clipper than you should be okay. Always have the blade flat against the skin and go slow.
I’m learning how to grooming and I have found your videos so practical and have learned A LOT !!!!! I would like to know what combs do you use in heads according with the different bodies lengths ? Please 😀
Hi, I usually use one length longer or two depending on the dog that I do. Hope this helps. I am pleased to answer anymore questions that you may have.
Seems when I use comb attachments I can't get it through the hair that easy. Constantly getting snagged. I'm using a brand new 30 blade and have even used conditioner and brushed out first. Any idea what I could be doing wrong? Very frustrating.
Hi. Is the comb attachment new or older? Can you try another 30 blade. Sometimes a new 30 blade won't work well so it's best to try another one to see if it works. Try another comb attachment as they get worn down. Also thoroughly comb through the coat to ensure their are no pin mats in the coat. Hope this helps
Beautiful groom as always. I'm curious if you've ever tried grooming with a clipper vac? I'm thinking of investing in one, but I'm nervous about the learning curve. What are your thoughts? Have you ever tried one?
I have a problem and I ask for help. Yesterday I had Bichon and the client was looking for a bit longer hair. I estimate that I should use the attachment clasp 4 on the blade 10. The dog I washed, dried and brush. When I started, between the blade clipper and the comb attachment stuck with hair. I did not manage to cut it at all. I do not want to give up. On Sunday I go to take that dog and do it in the right way. I need an advice. Can there be a reason that the comb attachment does not lie properly on the blade? What should I do?
Hi! Use a #30 blade under the 4 comb attachment, it will work better and be smoother. Also make sure there are no mats or knots as the blade wont go through the coat. Use a comb to comb thoroughly. The 4 blade is short though, not sure how much coat you want to leave on. Also your #10 blade may be dull and thats why it did not cut. I never use a 10 as I find they dont give a nice clip. Good luck
Excellent! Question...how did you decide to use a #30 blade under your combs? Does it matter? We have a doodle and want to begin grooming her ourselves and love love love your channel.
+Dennis Royalty The #30 blade is recommended for these snap Combs. You can use a #15 or 10 blade which would make the length a little longer. Never us a #40 as the blade will snap. I use a #30 so my grooms are always the same length as most of my clients are regulars. I also find the 30 goes through the coat easier and leaves a smoother clip than the other sized blades
Thanks! another question if I may...I've read that when using only blades, cutting with the grain leaves the hair twice the length of the blade, against the grain leaves the stated length of the blade. In other words, a 3/4HT going with the grain would leave ~1.5". Thoughts? We want our doodle 3/4" mainly and want to make sure we purchase correctly. Also, shear recommendation for home grooming? What's a good quality straight shear?
It was so nice when you stopped the music from playing. You’re video is so good it doesn’t need music to compete with your voice. Thanks so much for the video, I’m trying to learn how to cut my mom ‘s yorkie’s hair.
Groomers who do videos forget there is a dog they are working with and its not all about the audience. Dog is panting why aren't you have a conversation with the dog to comfort him? All I heard you say is "move your head honey". You are talking to a dog, not a human.
Are you serious? I am talking through the whole video. The dog hears my voice and thinks I am talking to her. Most groomers do not talk to the dogs. The dog is there to get groomed and get praised after by saying good dog or giving it a cookie. A lot of dogs pant and shiver while being groomed because they don't like it but tolerate it. Do some research and become a groomer before leaving a uneducated comment. Dogs only understand certain words or tones. Seriously do some research, lol. How can I forget that I am grooming a dog? That's such a weird comment. Watch any video on any subject and see if they are forgetting what they are doing or talking about.
