Great vid Jef! Music production devices are really changing the game. There’s groove box’s, beats devices, creative software for iOS and more. I’m old-school with DAWs, audio interfaces, guitars and keys, BUT I’ve been really studying and trying different devices for the last year and finding it inspirational. Thanks!
Thanks Canada for saying OPZed instead of OPZee! Great video, thanks for showing it with the app, most don't do this which is crazy to me as I want to see what's going on.
@@justusandtherockets seriously no auto sampler , that sucks , I love my MPC one , very inexpensive device and very powerful , I have a 256gb card full of my own expansions and auto sampled instruments , it’s my main thing , I hardly ever use anything else to make music, it does it all
Teenage Engineering makes some really great sounding stuff. Allowing you to be creative to the level that you can while having it so small......the downside.....the price. I'm not a cheap person as my wife keeps telling me (when it comes to buying for me anyways). So I do understand that if you get high quality gear, you're going to pay high quality price. That being said, $600 for this thing and $1300 for the OP-1.....is a bit much
Make sure to charge it constantly or the battery will straight up die on you like mine did. The encoders like to fall out and it's prone to case bending on it's own. I really wish they put in the effort to improve the build quality for something that's $600.
Hey Ben! I've had a busy Fall, and just haven't had time to play with it as I spend every free moment prepping my next videos... definitely want to do another vid with this, which would allow me to focus on it again. I definitely can see why so many people love the device, but it's one that you need to keep working with since it has so many button combinations for quick workflow (that slows way down if you haven't used for a while and can't remember the combinations!)
These have really bad build quality control,I’ve heard of encoders falling out and cracking and bending in the plastic ,TE should have made this from aluminium, and had better encoders , they make nice stuff ,but this, because of the quality of it is a massive no from me ,despite its awesomeness ,it’s a cheaply made machine prone to breaking just by using it regularly
Enjoying OP-Z since day one! Hope you could influence TE keep improving it, Jef. Like VST for DAW, official support for making/loading sound packs.
Yes, it’s so powerful but has room for more bells and whistles!
Thanks for the shout out Jef! Glad to hear a fellow zedder.
Most welcome, thanks for your vids!
Love to see this crossover of Jef and TE! Hope to see more Op-Z content in the future!

Most welcome! Been playing with it more for another summer video!
Ugh. Just stop.
That is pretty clever! Looking forward to some additional videos on this rascal.
Perfect timing! Mine arrives tomorrow
Let me know how it goes!!
Thank you Jef for this 😃 I would love to snag one of these , the OP- z is such a fascinating instrument to me
It really is fascinating... not sure if I'll ever reach "Red Means Recording" levels but I'm having fun with it!
@@jefgibbons between him and cuckoo 😃
Thank you!!!! Been eyeing this and the OP-1 for a year, but instead I bought the Maschine+
Nice! How are you doing the M+?
Loving it so far, but wishing I could autosample like the MPC’s

@@valley_robot New update adds an auto-sampler. Should drop in the next week. Was delayed due to a bug.
That's crazy

That's good to know, thanks for the tips!
Checking in after a few months… do you still use it? Has the OP-Z made its way into your workflow after the honeymoon phase?

I thought the MK3 had a learning curve!!
Oh dude, it’s true! I spent 3 weeks learning… I’d wager some people would give up before the fun kicks in!!
Teenage mutant engineering, teenage mutant engineering..
Dude… you’ve on to a good theme there!
I don’t know man... I’ll stick to my Op1 which I go to bed with .. it’s how much I love her
I completely understand!
Seems pretty cool but it's so small... seems like itd be annoying to work on for long periods of time
I forgot to mention that I can easily hook up my Keystep keyboard and it just instantly works for MIDI input... kind of an important detail!
This things has some fat sounds.
It’s a crazy little device!!
