The knife sharpener arrived quickly and in good condition ruclips.net/user/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ I was happy to see that that packaging was easy to open. I did not need a chain saw to get into the package. The sharpener was smaller than I expected but that might turn out to be and advantage because it will be much easier to store than my old sharpener. The instructions on the package were simple and concise; perfectly adequate for this product. I liked that the two slots were labeled with "Course" and "Fine" on both sides of the sharpener. Now, how does it work? It's fantastic. A few swipes of the knife through the two slots and the knife was sharper than when it was new. The rubber surface on the bottom held it in place while sharpening. I thought the small size might be a problem but it was not a problem at all. In fact, I prefer it to the larger sharpeners I have used in the past. On top of that, the small size makes it very easy to store.I love it and highly recommend it.
I ordered two of these based on the reviews. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxqmKabisEv81ul5v7OhvVxxOpt2CJruI- Received them on time and they look good. I really like the handle on these knives as they feel good in my hand. I'm giving them 4 stars on look and feel, but have not had the chance to put them to the test yet. I mostly fish for catfish and can hopefully try them out in the next few days. If they hold an edge throughout a limit of catfish, they'll be worth another star.Update...I used the 9" strong and the 9" fillet on a mess of catfish. I did put a sharpening on these before I started. I want a razor edge to fillet fish but they weren't quite that sharp. The people who gave these knives crappy reviews and said they were sending them back was because they weren't razor sharp. So what, do they not have a knife sharpener?? Good grief! I mean you have to sharpen any knife from time to time.I personally like them and am pleased with them. If you're too lazy to sharpen a knife then hire someone to clean your fish lol.I've never bought a knife in my life that would shave hair right out of the box. Don't be afraid to purchase the knives. They're pretty nice in my opinion.
*Awesome product! Great quality feel **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s light yet extremely sturdy and well built. Will definitely recommend. Already placing a second order!*
Sorry it took me over 4 years to find your video. Man, that is some awesome blade work you do there!!! Can't wait to try this out next time I catch some fish. You make it look easy, but obviously you have done many many fish. You cleaned those two walleye in the time it would take me to get my electric knife plugged in. Time for me to go back to the basics and learn to do this with a non-electric knife. Thank you Sir for sharing your superb skills and also thanks for letting me know where to pick up some good sharpening tools!!!
awesome vid, very nice, and thanks for the skinning technique, I just have to say to those watching, wipe your blade off after sharpening, before filleting....it's small, but either your sharpener or your knife is producing some kind of metal/carbon dust.
I see you are in Ontario. I used to live a few doors down from a Gordon Bastable on Roseberry St. is St. James, Manitoba. Same guy by chance? Great job filleting those pickerel BTW.
@@vermilionbaylodge Hi . Thanks for answering. No,we didn't know each other, but I remember your Dad owned Parkview Solo. I have a 1970 yearbook somewhere here from Assiniboine with you in it. That's a fine looking lodge you and your wife own. It looks like your grade 8 ambition to be a brilliant success happened for you ! Anywhooo, take care Gordon.
I came here to see how he sharpened his filet knife and now I am leaving having watched the most badass filleting of a fish I've ever seen. His knife barely left the fish during the cleaning.
We catch walleye on Lake Erie & that walleye would not be legal on Lake erie unless you are in Canadian waters. 15 inches minimum on Lake Erie in Michgan,Ohio,PA,N.Y. Canada no size limit. I live in Michigan so usually we see regular 20+ inch walleye.
Different waters have different regulations. In our area regulations protect the bigger fish and allow harvesting walleye under 18 inches. Seems to work as the fishing has improved over time. Lake Erie is definitely a walleye factory!
No offence taken mainoffender. I'm just showing what works for me, and hopefully some others who don't have any idea how to sharpen their knives can give it a try. My methods are pretty rough, and I wouldn't suggest this is the way to treat some high end knives. Thanks for the suggestions....I will check out the condition of my steel (it's probably older than me!)
by "default" i meant Flaws, it has to be flawless to have a great resuslt, If u slide ur nail along the steel and feels something, it has to be sand because it will greetly damage the knife lol...
Welp. After watching your smooth cutting skills, I feel really bad about my choppy job earlier on my first bass/panfish attempt... Practice makes perfect!
The honing steel does not get better as it gets older in my experience. A brand new honing steel works way better. try it. Try one of the victorinox full size honing steels.
I will take your suggestion and order a new steel.......but, I'm a traditionalist and the old stuff has it's place. Thanks for watching and commenting.
omg, 0/10 for the steeling method. First ur steel looks to have default o.o it has to be perfectly uniform, most important thing. Also the pression u are using is 1000x to great. You have to be extremely delicate and should steel at a 26-28 degree angle when working with victorinox knife. If u wanna work the "taillant" u can use some pression at 1-24 degree. I work with these knife everyday, and if u steel my knife like u just did, it'll drop from a 9.5/10 to a 2/10 in a second.

Hi John......as with most things practice is the main ingredient. Good luck with filleting your pike!
John i
Great knife, used it recently to filet some Pompano, sharp with just the right amount of flex to get the most out of each fish.
The filleting part WOW... you made it look so EASY...
5:53 shows some really bad ass skill! great job!
Hey mate if I ever get to come to the states for a holiday I would pay you to teach me how you fillet fish I will watch this over and over thank you
Holy shit, nice skinning/filleting job!
Very nice video, just shows you dont have to invest in elaborate sharpening systems to get by, top stuff !

Hi...yes, Roseberry Street was the old stomping ground. Did we know each other?

@@maintuning That was my uncle Jack that owned the store.....I couldn't recall the name of it till you just mentioned it. Seems like quite awhile ago!
That's a beautiful cut job! :)
that fillet blew my mind, i feel like you may have been doing it for a few years...
Wow! You are the master!
Nice work!

Hey Bill....thank you for the positive comments!
5:49 kills me! LOL! THUMP!
Thanks Justin, yes, there has been some practice up till this point!
Geez, it takes me 15 minutes to filet a fish, and you do it in 15 seconds!
took him 1 minute & he left the pin bones in.

awesome video what a pro at filleting fish
Thanks. Wouldn't say I'm as good at sharpening a knife as I am at using one. Years of practice makes it easy.
I dont if you have but I think you should put up a video showing your master at felliting :)

Thanks Bill.....it's good to have a sharp knife!
wow man. just wow.

Welp. After watching your smooth cutting skills, I feel really bad about my choppy job earlier on my first bass/panfish attempt... Practice makes perfect!
Don't worry, everyone starts out choppy......you'll get better with practice!
For sure! great cleaning!

im not sure why i bought expensive knives and sharpeners when he was able to do this with a victorinox which wasn't even fully sharpened
It comes down to practice. An expensive knife may not make your technique any better.
Beautiful and Beautiful
Wow you are fast at filleting fish I caught 20 catfish in the past 2 days and took me forever to filet them I'm also a rookie though
This dudes been doing this for a long time lol
Nice filet job! I’m a rookie and ruining my catch...SMH 💪😛
