That fits perfectly because in a interview Jada said he supposed to work with Aaliyah for her last album (The RED album which is title AALIYAH) but didn't know which track he was going to be featured on . I'm pissed we were deprived of that combination .
I wish they would have kept some of his vocal placement/ runs. They simplified the final version for a smoother product but his was more soulful even though Aaliyah sang with more clarity
This is a good version of the song but I'm happy that they changed it to suit her! "More than a woman" is the perfect title and theme! The finalized version sounds more cleaner!

Rough drawing to final painting is what a demo is to a song. Most of the time the producer changes lyrics, maybe changes the artist, gets some mix ideas, adds or removes instruments to improve the music. I dont know if record companies still instruct producers to do demos as they may think its a waste of time. If they don't I think it should be brought back and could benefit, as so many ideas come out of it.

Two of the remaining members of PLAYA are now apart of Dru Hill and on a press run for their 25th anniversary tour SMOKE spoke about the fallout with Aaliyah and Timbaland . He said that this song was supposed to be part of the final version but it turned out to be MORE THAN A WOMAN and Timbaland had no idea that the entire song was changed until it was featured on her album . The blow up happened and Timbaland made it clear to Aaliyah that he wouldn’t work with her after this .
for some reason I believe she would have recorded this as the remix that she was headed to record with Freeway in Miami. It sounds too good to be left on the cutting room floor.
To think of all the mega hits he would’ve continued to keep making for her he would’ve been way bigger and Aaliyah would’ve been on Michael Jackson’s status with record sales, fame, billionare, etc just the female version.
I love this version of MTAW but the lyrics of the chorus don’t seem to go with the rest of the song. Like why would a line need to be drawn if there are “no secrets to keep/ he’s my man, I’m his piece.” That being said it takes noting away from the chorus still being 🔥.
