Emotional love song - those strings! Original video: • "Please Don't Ask Me" ... John Farnham's channel: / @johnfarnhamtv L.T.L. Tutoring Central: www.tutoringce...
Such a great song and performance. Any song from this concert is just 🔥. He also sang this song as a duet with the late Olivia Newton John at the main event in 1998 another spectacular performance worth checking out.
They were asking for Sadie the Cleaning Lady which was his first hit when he was 17. He had a tough time changing his image to be able to have the career that he has today. He is awesome.
Hi Michele, Ha, ha, that's funny. I can see why he was responding that way. He has a great sense of humour though - as well as his obvious musical talent. 🙂
Beautiful song about love that can't eventuate. A great version worth looking at is done as a duet with the beautiful Olivia Newton John, from The Main Event.
John Farnham was known as Johnnie Farnham back in the late 60s and his first hits were Sadie the Cleaning Lady and the other he mentioned was Raindrops Keep Falling on Your Head. This is the first time I have seen your reaction and I enjoyed it. Thanks.
Sublime!. With an orchestra backing him it was beautiful. What you see is what you get with John. TV was still in black and white when he first started appearing in music shows on our screens singing Sadie the cleaning lady when he was just 18. Ps His long hair was rhe most famous Mullet in Aus for years... only lasted another maybe 10 or 11 years. He had chopped it by the time he turned 50.
John is currently recovering for major mouth cancer surgery and may never sing again. We hope and pray here in Australia, and I'm sure also around the world, that he recovers well. If he never sings again, we should all consider ourselves the fortunate ones who have had the utmost privilege to have heard this once-in-a-liftime voice. He is the nicest, most normal, down to earth guy and we are so proud of him. Please keep him in your prayers and/or thoughts as he travels this difficult road ahead.
Sadie was his first hit record back in 1966 / 67..... I think 1966. A pop song loosely based on the English skiffle style of pop ( English folksy jug band ). I’m sure many did heckle him about that song 50 years ago, but now I think it is part of the show and humour..... as is One and Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head. lol
The film documentary about John Farnham's career in music is out today, May 18th, IN AUSTRALIA .It will also be on DVD.I saw ii before full release, last Sunday, and it was very interesting and fun. Yes, John can be very funny and sooo charismatic!
Sadie the Cleaning Lady (1968 version is better).. John's first big hit released in '67. It's a love-hate relationship. We, the audience, love it. John, maybe not so much but he humours us 😂 Usually we'd hook a reactor on John's music before exposing them to Sadie. Context is everything with this one 😂
John recorded a song called Sadie when he was about 18 I think back in 1967. It was a big hit in Australia, not sure why. It was about a cleaning lady and had almost a vaudeville sound. Anyway over the years, the audience call for him to sing Sadie .. a bit of a running joke between him and the audience.
'Sadie' was a blessing and a curse for John. It was a boppy, bubble-gum type of song which originally made him popular. But that's all the music industry thought John could sing and refused to take him seriously and did not realise the singing talent that John had. His manager, Glenn Wheatley, had to mortgage or sell his house to fund John's album, 'Whispering Jack.' because no-one else would. That album became the top seller for a long time! (So the mention of the song, which John somewhat reluctantly does sing sometimes from demanding requests, is a running joke.)
John is always clowning around, apart from his incomparable voice he is also a bit of a comedian. The song that has always haunted John was his first hit record, Sadie the cleaning lady. This was a very successful song for him, people always ask him to sing it.
If you really appreciate the orchestra can I suggest you listen to John’s version of AC/DC’s It’s a Long Way to the Top if you want to rock and roll with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
I love this song, but his duet from The Main Event Concert with Olivia Newton John is so more emotional. Sadie, The Cleaning Lady was a pop hit for Johnny Farnham back in the 60's; it is a love/hate relationship, but John always says "If it wasn't for Sadie, he probably wouldn't be where he is now".

Thank you, George. I'll have to check it out. 🙂
I usually watch John singing this as a duet with Olivia Newton John. Lovely to hear him sing it on his own. He is the best.
Yes, lovely, although I do much prefer the duet.

A wonderful performance.
Thank you for reacting and appreciating the amazing John Farnham!
My pleasure! 🙂

Yes, I wish him all the very best. 🙂

PS. The film is named, 'Finding The Voice.'
I saw last Sunday too. It was ok, I’m not sure about the “untold story” hype but it was still a good watch.
I'll have to keep a look out for its availability in Canada. 🙂

It's good that he broke out of the bubble. Lots of young singers don't get past that first flush of fame. 🙂
This isn’t my kind of music. But as always, Farnsey just nails it. I bet there are people that cry over this performance.
I've just seen the movie about his like, THAT brings you to tears.
Yes, I imagine.

John's been singing since he was a kid
🙂
You should listen to this as a duet with Olivia Newton-John.
I'll have to check it out. 🙂
I'd miss your reactions if you closed the channel JR. Just sayin'
