I have wanted to make this bow for the last 4 years. Now, this video appeared in front of me. What a treasure. Thank you for laying out a foundation & idea of how to make it. I am going to make this bow this week. I'll be using a normal aluminium tube instead of the leaf spring and I will use spring in place of the two strings. Hope it turns out fine. Wish me luck!

Thank for watching and comment. I used vehicle leaf spring buy cutting and grinding them small enough for the bow. I did recorded how I made it, but unfortunately the footage was lost. But there are an easier alternative. In my other video, I made the prod of my medieval crossbow from an old blade of a table planer. REALLY AWESOME. only the first strings that you tie on to the bow. not he arrow firing string. should have tied the knots on the inside of the wheel parts instead of outside for all to see and it's not exactly 80 lbs. but it's still fucking awesome!

Great idea for bow but in my opinion painted wood as a handle makes your hands dirty I guess. It wouldn’t be better to use flame thrower and later on paint it with transparent spray paint? I don’t know 🤷♂️ just wondering
Why do the arrows come out so slowly? 80lbs should be allot faster. That functionality is like a 25-30lbs traditional bow. Maybe all the additional weight is the the Enemy of speed
Thanks Nandu for the question. It took me lots of time and effort to cut and grind it into this small and thin. I initially planned to use them as my pistol crossbow prods but they are too strong so I decided to use it in this bow construction with the lever mechanism instead.
next time you should be more specific and make a list of needed materials please i am really struggling over here because i dont know what types of metal some parts need to be or what kind of string you used. maybe tell me right now please i have cut all the parts except for the leaf spring parts.

You can also use just paracord. The reason I used the string from Geologic bow only because it fit the arrows from the same company.
That's a very cool lever bow you have great skill. Although are the bike rims really strong enough, would they bend over time and that looked pretty easy to pull for an 80lb bow ?

It's 80lbs, most people don't believe it, i shot an 80lbs bow before, so I trust the scale when I weight it. It doesn't perform as good as other bows with 80lbs, but it's fun to build and shoot one :)

For future easiest way to test draw weight is just with a luggage scale
