In my experience, living downtown in a big city is indistinguishable from a sci-fi dystopia, and it's a total drag.

Although I yearn to live in an age with cybernetics, I believe we may be closer or already in a cyberpunk world than most of us think.
We live in a distopian cyberpunk world but without cool aesthetics.
The reality is that wr will never get to live a cyberpunk world it will be much more biopunk. Which is cool since I mean that's what bladerunner almost is. I mean all the replicates are basically biological etc.

Dude, keep it up! And I agree with Scott Ikenhons there, Zimmer and Vangelis would really dig this. It's got just the right touch of Blade Runner to capture the atmosphere while still being its own piece, like a sequel to the soundtracks. Good work!

I see a lot of comments about people feeling they were born too early because they won’t get to see a world like this. With the current way humanity is going, we might be the ONLY generation to EVER see this. If humanity is wiped out in the next 20-30years this art, along with games and movies like it will be the closest any human will ever get to these imperfect utopias. Like a dream too beautiful to remember in morning, this might be the closest these worlds get to reality. And we were lucky enough to be here, even if only to see them through a window...

It does not matter how much water vapor humans release into the atmosphere since it will condense and fall to earth as precipitation once the atmospheric capacity is reached. Capacity depends on temperature, and increases when the atmosphere gets hotter, such as when weaker GGs like CO2 accumulate from human industry. So while human activity may not increase vapor production, it has increased vapor capacity. The article you posted is not peer-reviewed and is authored by someone with no qualifications in climate science. It is also written very informally and makes lots of claims without citations. You may find better quality information on the role of water vapor, CO2, and global warming here: www.annualreviews.org/doi/pdf/10.1146/annurev.energy.25.1.441.
Overall, you sound very misinformed about how climate hypotheses are developed. Politicians do not come up with these ideas. In fact, the role of human activity on global climate has been known for over 150 yrs. That is well before AOC or Democrats started talking about it. The field is currently populated by an international community of scientists who will continue to publish their findings even if politicians in the US do not mention it in their platforms. Much of this work is publicly searchable via Google scholar, and I recommend it as a resource if you would like to know more about the subject...

well, consider the actual technology that future you mention maybe will be within the next 400 years, there are a lot of things that need to solve, lot of things, or maybe there are solved already but for economics interest of banks and corporations that tech is not used by now and by a long time, look, the first car, the "automobile" was electric, with motors in each wheel, with aluminium batteries that still are charge today, all that in 1870, but JP Morgan and the recently invented diesel motor destroy that future for the shit of today, almost 150 years unchained to a fucking old pleistocenic technology, FIRE INSIDE A CAVE, the innner combustion motor, that move machines in this world, but we would can enjoy the electric tech 150 years ago!!
every year are sold 800 millions of small wheels for average cars just in USA, apart are sold another hundred of millions wheels for trucks, motrocicles, bicicles etc just in USA, did you know HOW MANY MONEY rubber and wheels factory earn year by years just in USA?

When I was younger, I wanted the socio-economics of utopian sci-fi with the look & feel of 80s/90s cyberpunk.

I lived in Hong Kong. When I actually got there, I realized it wasn't Blade Runner city. It has pockets of futuristic design for those who visit, but you get over it when you realize it is really a third world city, masquerading as a financial hub. You'll be impressed if you visit, but when you stay, you get to know it and it isn't as impressive. You don't get a Blade Runner feel.

@@carloko08 The downtown area hits you like Blade Runner when you first get there. You get the same feeling from Guangzhou, which feels even more epic. Visit! But once the city wears off, you get chaos.
Isn't that part of the point of Blade Runner? High technology + 3rd world slum + immense, concentrated wealth in a Babel-like dystopia.

When I saw "blade runner " as a kid in the early, I imagined these pics! I said, wow , our world will look like this. Movies like blade runner, Dune, star wars, akira, steam punk, take me to these off worlds. I can only imagine.......

If steampunk represents the victorians vision of the future, diesel punk represents the 40s view of the future, atomic punk represents the 50s and 60s view of the future, and cyberpunk represents the 80s view, then what is our view of the future?
well dont think it changed much, china and hong kong are literally cyberpunk for example, maybe our view is a bit more of a sci-fi utopia cuz a lot of countries are focusing on renewable energy and greenery so its starting to look like that too
