Hey man this was great, thank you. It being some time since the install, how have the fittings held up? I agree I’m not completely sold on the iroz catch can for 300 more. This option seems just as effective but the lines seemed firm. Did you ever have any issues with them coming off?
They haven't come off, but the clearance with the intake tube is somewhat annoying and I've taken the intake tube on and off enough times that I honestly wish it was routed somewhere else 🤣
I'm ready to install this kit tomorrow and was concerned with the routing over the exhaust manifold and on top of the intake tube, like was commented below. Any thoughts after having it installed for some time now? Seems like the other kits - VTT and Iroz don't have this routing.
We haven't had any issues with the lines after 10k miles of really hard abuse 🤷♂️. I think they are high enough up out of the way. There's coolant lines running to the fire wall that are much closer to the exhaust
@@HardwayLearning Thank you for that. Any tips on attaching the fitting from the catch can to the elbow? The heat gun seems to have helped with removing the original one, but looks like you struggled for a bit on connecting it. I have the 4" Unitronic elbow so I am expecting a similar headache. Silicone grease maybe?
@@HardwayLearning Thanks for your help, 30 min install. I broke the original hose attaching to the turbo inlet coupler once i peeled back the tape... even applying heat for a minute like Forge recommends.
Hey! Im looking to get one as well but I'm not sure if I can fit it somewhere else. I already have APR DSG catch can and I believe they are mounted in the same place. Could you check if it can be mounted somewhere else? Maybe left side of the engine, like IROZ?
i dont like the line routing on this kit , goes over the exhaust manifold , in an already tight place , no more air going in there because of the line . i like the catch can kit that have line going on the left near the coolant overflow tank like iroz , VTT etc ...
It may not be the best location, but I'd argue the intake tube cuts off more air back there. I don't think two little hoses is going to change the temperature of the exhaust manifold/turbo in any measurable way. Plus, some people install turbo blankets, that traps heat in, I'm not sure cooling off your exhaust manifold/turbo is something we should be aiming for?

Why did you have the engine built all the way out in St Charles IL? I thought you live in Minnesota?
The owner of the vehicle is in Wisconsin, and from what I'm aware there weren't really any shops with DAZA experience at the time.

@@clos2070 I always just press it on, it doesn't really feel like it locks on, but it hasn't popped off yet, I did use saliva the first time.

Sounds like you had the same experience! Glad we could help 😃
No thread sealant on the adapters? I would've thought teflon tape?
That's probably not a bad idea, but these shouldn't be under pressure so I'm not all that worried about it and they have an o-ring? 🤷♂️
@@HardwayLearning Got it. I just don't trust anything carrying oil ;)
Yeah I feel you, hopefully it's a minimal amount of oil and mostly fumes!
@@HardwayLearning If that happens, I couldn't ride with you. I get off on fumes.
When is the Miata getting snow tires?
Never

You would have to come up with your own custom bracket, which wouldn't necessarily be difficult, but might not look as "OEM".

@@HardwayLearning its not about cooling the turbo or exhaust ,this place is the exit for hot air trapped under the bonnet ,top of engine cooling :)

Did this actually work? I've had no luck with this catch can! It's always empty!
The PCV system on your car is probably working well then. The catch can is really only necessary of yours has failed!
How does the rs3 handle in the snow?
This has yet to be tested 🤔, it is Quattro season though
Have you caught any oil yet? Sure looked like an awful lot of work.
Yes, it is collecting some oil! It wasn't that bad of an install to be honest. Maybe an hour or 45 minutes total?
