The most epic moment for this plane must have been diving on a Japanese carrier, while aiming at the giant meatball painted on the deck, back in June of 1942
Battle of Midway June 4-7, 1942. The Dauntless Dive Bombers sank the JIN Aircraft Carriers Akagi, Kaga, Hiryū, and Soryū. But the US Navy had Lost the U.S.S. Yorktown (CV-5)a little more than a month after the Loss of the U.S.S. Lexington (CV-2) At the Battle of Coral Sea.
Certainly a generation that we Boomers can be proud of. But I remember Joe Foss, who was Brokaw's mentor in S Dakota: "We weren't the greatest, we just did what we had to do." He said that without the Founders there never would've been a USA, and they faced vastly greater challenges. He was right!
No there's a totally worthless bit of imformation nobody asked for nor does it have much of anything to do with this video just you spouting off to get your post count up
I think also about the stuka pilots, they were able to hit a tank with a bomb with incredible precision and they were able to pull up the plane at the last moment and ofter they lost consciousness. They were so damn experienced pilots. Obviously, also the US dive bombers did a great job at the midway, brave pilots.
Wow, awesome to hear from an actual Dauntless pilot.
Thank you for your service. RIP
Passed away on May 25, 2022. Godspeed. They're all almost gone.

Wow... total badass. SBD's were awesome and required a special pilot to do those dives.
The greatest generation
Real men... too bad they dont make em like this anymore.

More Helldivers were built than Dauntless.

So thankful for this mans bravery and service. We can never repay these amazing aviators.
Easily my favorite plane in history. My second favorite being the P-38 Lightning.
