Yea I hate that, I've this (as I'm sure most do) ripped from my CD but its go a horrible blip across the tracks. I've still the vinyl but ... actuallly I don't! It's "script" I have on original gatefold vinyl. This one I always had on shitty cassette!
the seamless transition between Pseudo Silk Kimono and Kayleigh is absolutely gorgeous on the ears. It sounds so somber yet so down to earth and joyful. Honestly concept albums are some of my favorites ever. They tell such a different story from band to band.
your comment was from a year ago..I hope you've delved deeper down the wormhole and found some other soul touching tunes. I'm curious as to what you've found. Email me at Shuem8@aol.com and let me know.
_"Kayleigh, I'm still trying to write that love song._ _Kayleigh, it's more important to me now you're gone._ _Maybe it will prove that we were right._ _Or it'll prove that I was wrong ..."_ These lines still sends shivers down my spine, after all those many years!
A great intro. I put this on the car CD stereo, she loved it and I sung Kayleigh and lavender too her. She loved it. I will never forget that moment. Wonderful x
@@yuvalmarom4402 Omg you're ≈ 17 now, the same age I was when I was listening to Marillion practically 24/7. My ex-girlfriend gave me a copy of this album for my birthday that year! Good memories. I just turned 21 so I'm only a few years older than you. We have to keep these bands alive for our generation. Never let this go. 😊 Happy listening! 🎶
"The spirit of a misplaced childhood is rising to speak his mind to this orphan of heartbreak, disillusioned and scarred. A refugee, refugee." Can't even begin to explain the impact in my whole life from now on this had on my life due to PTSD. Brought back from the grave a memory of my childhood I wish I could have deleted forever.
My Dad asked me when this came out, "Why didn't you buy a 45 of the song you like?", a 45 is a song, this is an epic story, why own a part of it? Pink Floyd The Wall, Alice Cooper Welcome to my Nightmare.... One song is a snip of the story.
When this tranforms from the original heavy riff into the child like lavender, it's got to be one of the greatest moments in music? It's seamless and not forced, it just works.
Pseudo Silk Kimono Huddled in the safety of a pseudo silk kimono Wearing bracelets of smoke, naked of understanding Nicotine smears, long, long dried tears, invisible tears Safe in my own words, learning from my own words Cruel joke, cruel joke Huddled in the safety of a pseudo silk kimono A morning mare rides, in the starless shutters of my eyes The spirit of a misplaced childhood is rising to speak his mind To this orphan of heartbreak, disillusioned and scarred A refugee, refugee. Kayleigh Do you remember? Chalk hearts melting on a playground wall Do you remember? Dawn escapes from moon washed college halls Do you remember? The cherry blossom in the market square Do you remember? I thought it was confetti in our hair By the way, didn't I break your heart? Please excuse me, I never meant to break your heart So sorry, I never meant to break your heart But you broke mine Kayleigh, is it too late to say I'm sorry? And, Kayleigh, could we get it together again? I just can't go on pretending That it came to a natural end Kayleigh, oh I never thought I'd miss you And, Kayleigh, I thought that we'd always be friends We said our love would last forever So how did it come to this bitter end? Do you remember? Barefoot on the lawn with shooting stars Do you remember? The loving on the floor in Belsize Park Do you remember? Dancing in stilettoes in the snow Do you remember? You never understood I had to go By the way, didn't I break your heart? Please excuse me, I never meant to break your heart So sorry, I never meant to break your heart But you broke mine Kayleigh, I just want to say I'm sorry But, Kayleigh, I'm too scared to pick up the phone To hear you've found another lover To patch up our broken home Kayleigh, I'm still trying to write that love song Kayleigh, it's more important to me, now you're gone Maybe it will prove that we were right Or it'll prove that I was wrong Lavender I was walking in the park dreaming of a spark When I heard the sprinklers whisper Shimmer in the haze of summer lawns Then I heard the children singing They were running through the rainbows They were singing a song for you Well it seemed to be a song for you The one I wanted to write for you, for you,... you Lavenders blue, dilly dilly, lavenders green When I am King, dilly dilly, you will be Queen A penny for your thoughts my dear A penny for your thoughts my dear I.O.U. for your love, IOU for your love Lavenders green, dilly dilly, lavenders blue When you love me, dilly dilly, I will love you A penny for your thoughts my dear A penny for your thoughts my dear IOU for your love, IOU for your love For your love
Love this album and these song so much!!!!! I met Fish once. By met I mean "Randomly saw him, recognised him and badgered for an autograph in a bar" but he was nice about it :)
Me hace sentirme bien, sereno y un loco en la noche olvidada de la eterna juventud. Visto de negro porque amo la noche y sus estrellas que unen los sonidos en una canción.
Pastiched this for an essay when I was 14. The fact that I had to look up kimono in the dictionary set me off. From here I got far more examples of more 'traditional' poetry. I also re-discovered the skill, routine and love of reading, which I have never lost. Thank you, Marillion!
Too right they are, love their stuff. This album and Script For A Jester's Tear are my favourite ones. Love Steve Rothery's guitar playing as well. His solos often remind me of David Gilmour
@@panelram72 that's not what I said 😂 Good music still exists, but you won't find it in the mainstream charts! Maybe not your cup of tea.. try Pete & Bas 😅
The best cross- fade between tracks on an album.
Absolutely!

I know right these three tracks change so flawlessly you don't even notice
yes.indeed.
This, Wait for Sleep/Learning to Live by Dream Theater and Sirius/Eye in the Sky by Alan Parsons Project
Almost 40 years ago.... and still touches my soul deep inside... This will never fade
Thank you Marillion...... ❤
Me too....
I do agree. It still blows me away, more each time

Your car/cd has good taste! 🤣🤣🤣
Born in 93 but musically belong in the 80s music today can't compare.
Best intro ever of a album.
The intro of 'Brave' is also awesome !!
excellent songs from a great underestimated band
I know, but they left their very deep footprint in history...
Fell in LOVE with this 30 years ago, in fact my daughter was named Kayleigh because of this wonderful album! Thank you
My 2nd name is actually kayleigh because my dad loves marillion and this song
My hair still stands on end when I hear this track from Fish and I’m bloody 72
Im 14 and feel the same
Fish is the best!

Geoff Rice It's timeless and ageless, don't you worry. 🎉😊
Legendary album
No, it really exists
After near 35 years, still amazing LP.
Great inspiration.
Great work.
Great subject.
The kind of music you can, as gold, keep in a safe.
Marillion under Fish were just amazing. His great voice but wow his soul in his lyrics, oh, my, good ,God. Never rivalled
Two of the most beautiful and smooth transitions in Rock music history!
I've been a new Genesis fan for a few years, now I'm discovering this band. This is great music❤
Genesis was a great pop band but Marillion..... is just magically semantically undescribaple!!! If such word exists!
Marillion has very strong Peter Gabriel influence@@bernardbejjani3881
A legendary British band from the 80's.
not only british: Mark Kelly is from Eire
Fish is from Scotland
Sublime, cada vez que escucho estos tres cortes seguidos terminan saltándoseme las lágrimas...
The best 8 minutes in Neo-Prog history
A masterpiece!
Enjoyed this music in 1986 when I was 17. Now in 2018, remain like this song
Just brutal mix each song fits glorious with the next one.one of the best rock albums in history of music.

Kayleigh
Do you remember?
Chalk hearts melting on a playground wall
Do you remember?
Dawn escapes from moon washed college halls

By the way, didn't I break your heart?

Kayleigh, I just want to say I'm sorry
But, Kayleigh, I'm too scared to pick up the phone
To hear you've found another lover
To patch up our broken home
Kayleigh, I'm still trying to write that love song
Kayleigh, it's more important to me, now you're gone
Maybe it will prove that we were right
Or it'll prove that I was wrong
Lavender
I was walking in the park dreaming of a spark
When I heard the sprinklers whisper
Shimmer in the haze of summer lawns
Then I heard the children singing
They were running through the rainbows
They were singing a song for you
Well it seemed to be a song for you
The one I wanted to write for you, for you,... you
Lavenders blue, dilly dilly, lavenders green
When I am King, dilly dilly, you will be Queen
A penny for your thoughts my dear
A penny for your thoughts my dear
I.O.U. for your love, IOU for your love
Lavenders green, dilly dilly, lavenders blue
When you love me, dilly dilly, I will love you
A penny for your thoughts my dear
A penny for your thoughts my dear
IOU for your love, IOU for your love
For your love

Top 5 best 80's song, no doubt
LOVE THIS ALBUM...

+gemes64 I ended up doing the same for A Level only I used Punch & Judy
Ah this is brilliant! I used the opening lyrics from Bitter Suite in english GCSE :D
When you quote a prog band in your GCSE, finals, papers, etc., you know it's going to be great!
MARILLION NOS ENVIA EM UMA VIAGEM. NÃO É SÓ MÚSICA E UMA MÁQUINA DO TEMPO. VIAGEM AO BONS TEMPOS, DA MÚSICA SINCERA.
Große Kunst der Musik....
Standing the test of time..as good in 2020 as it was when released

Musically I died in the 80s
I know what you mean...
My music collection is roughly 80% from the 1960s to 1988. Only 20% from 1989 to the present.
I think the music died in the 2000s
Same.
Artistically, the world ended in 1989.
The best ...the best.
Superb
Remembering my great love ragna
Always thought it was part of Kayleigh, til today 😅...love Marillion 🫶
WAT A CLASS MIX.........

It's Marillion! Absulutely brilliant!
It kinda Sounds likes Genesis.

Yes…but in a good way
You’re so right. I used to hear Kayleigh and think it was Phil Collins singing it.
