MADISON FLORIDA: #Hurricane #Helene roared into the Big Bend with winds over 130 mph as it pushed toward the I-10 corridor. Hurricane force winds were felt in Madison with damage taking place. A communications tower was destroyed and fell into Duval Street in Madison during the storm.
Anyone remember when we used to take US flags down at the end of the day or earlier if there was bad weather?
I was just thinking about that my dad wouldn't leave it outside without a light shining on it at night. He definitely always took it down in the rain.

At the boat marina the flag went up in the morning and we took it down before leaving and that was on a naval base

I know it's the least of the problems. But if the flag was taken down, it wouldn't be shredded. We had a flagpole blow down in our front yard. There wasn't even a flag raised when it happened. Wasn't even a storm. But we get sustained winds where we live in PA.
One county had multiple trailer homes floating around.

I realise there are limbs off trees and trees down however, it’s still amazing how resilient the leaves are by actually staying on the trees.
This hurricane looked more like a cat 2 then a cat 4.
