The great thing about books is that there is literally something for everyone, even my husband who is a self-professed loather of reading books. He has discovered that he loves all of Brandon Sanderson's books and read all of them, several many times.

Ahhh, I needed a good visit with you girls. Gardens, quilts, knits and books-these are a few of my favorite things🥰. My core book is “Pilgrim’s Progress” by John Bunyan. It was a life changer for me.
I am working on my daughter’s wedding “Blessing” quilt right now. Squares set on point, people wrote blessings and Scripture on 5 1/2” squares at the shower. I should have picked a pattern first, but I did now, and am finally ready to get busy on it.
Thank you girls for a lovely visit.

I was first introduced to Pilgrim's Progress in Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I think that's a great core book. Love hearing about the quilts you are making, and having scriptures on a quilt sounds like a sweet idea.

Emily, I wanted to share that I do not cut my main yarn when doing a contrast heel, so I only have 2 ends to weave in instead of 4. I generally knit a 60 row leg. I start the 61st row on the front of the sock, then add in the heel color and start the heel on the back of the sock. After completing the heel turn, I cut the heel yarn. Then I go back to the original yarn and start picking up the stitches on the side of the heel, knit across the heel, and pick up the stitches on the other side. Hope this makes sense! I used to cut the yarn, but realized there wasn't really any need to. Love the podcast!

Loved this episode. I have recently become a fan of yours. My most core book is probably Anne of Green Gables. When I was a kid, I watched the Megan Follows adaptation every day. It was a comfort to me while I was dealing with some serious health issues. As an adult, I finally read the whole Anne series, and I loved the books even more!

Hello Ladies! Your quilt is so beautiful! I started one years and years ago, but hated my hand-quilted stitches, and put it in a forever time out. It is actually a beautiful log cabin done in blues and pinks. Perhaps I will dig it out and have someone else complete it for me. I’m getting too old to have it not be completed. I love the socks you both completed, and the sweaters are stunning! You both are so talented! As for needle storage. …I tried various types of storage but finally settled upon purchasing small pencil cases of various colors from Amazon, and using my Cricut to heat press the size of needle on the front. They then hold every type needle of that size. I have them filed in an oval shaped basket that my daughter bought me. It is finally the way I love to store them. Every one has a unique to them way to organize. I learned that from watching Cassandra on RUclips discuss the 4 main categories of organizers. Now, as far as core books. I guess The Boxcar Children would be where I started to develop a love for reading. I especially like to read books about family units. I’m more of a favorite author than a book though. I love Debbie McCombre, Elin Hilebrand, and Dorothea Benton Frank. I also was moved my the book, American Dirt, which opened my eyes to immigrants and their quest for freedom and safety in Our country. And lastly the plight of the Jews during the Nazi rise have been the books that have affected me most profoundly. In fact, I needed to take a break from reading them, as their content was so disturbing. I’ve been an avid reader for over 60 years, so the books that I have kept in my mind and heart are many and from a variety of genres. From mythology, to biographies, to mysteries, to women’s contemporary fiction to self help books…there have been a few outstanding in my mind from each. I, too, could talk about literature all day and then some. Thanks for the thought provoking question. Have fun with the quilting, sewing, gardening, knitting, and taking care of your health. Watch those carbs…and ear a balanced meal to try to reverse your diabetes. The berry groups of fruits are the best for you. I just realized that skim milk has 4 teaspoons of sugar in each cup. Sheesh. I guess I need to eat grass. Until next time….❤

So much goodness in your comment! First of all, I hope you do get your log cabin quilt finished! I love hearing about how you store your needles and your favorite books. Thanks so much for sharing!

Deborah the maker is The Vintage Dreamer, I love watching Rebeka's podcast as well.
I have seen other knitters use pony bead lacing from a craft store or The Knitting Barber cords instead of waste yarn to try on sweaters, or to leave sleeve stitches on. I just love your yarn colors Deborah and Emily that green cardigan is going to look so great on you!

I would definitely put all of Corrie ten Boom's books in my core books. While The Hiding Place is amazing, I find that her other books are even more influential in my life. Little Women was my favorite book growing up (other than Nancy Drew). I have the Madame Alexander dolls (Marmee, Meg, Jo, Beth, Amy and Laurie). I have the book that was my mom's when she was a girl and it means the world to me. Jane Eyre and Rebecca are also favorites. I have a book that my aunt gave me to read when I was a teen called Tregaron's Daughter (out of print) that I also love a lot. The fact that my aunt passed away within a year of my reading it and the book was given to me after her passing has a lot to do with it I'm sure. It was one of my first adult books. Not to be a brown-noser, I have all of your books, Emily, and I love them. They make me want to be a better person. I am at a crossroads in my life right now and they have given me some clarity. I'm grateful for them. Such a good visit ladies! Sending you both love and hugs.
