  • Today, I visited Thiruparankundram Hill, in Southern Madurai, India. To be honest, this small village is super colorful and extremely beautiful with the hill the mountain in the background.
I came with the intentions of hiking to the top and sitting on one of the large rocks. I wanted to see the city from a high viewpoint.
But unfortunately, some people who were not even in a uniform, stopped me from walking on the trails. It was so obvious that thousand of people have walked along these trails. I'm not sure why the 2 men stopped me from walking.
After spending hours of my time to get to this location, I was rather frustrated when I had to just turn around and walk back down the hill.

Well, you had just visited the city where the very head of the company that manages the app that you used often to find directions, was born. The world is a small place, a small beautiful place indeed!
I finally found a gem of a channel.

Glad to know your thoughts on the monkeys.
I think you should be more comfortable around a pride of lions.
Leave lions aside , a solitary honey badger would be sufficient to make you feel that the monkeys are beagle pups

Brother There are few other interesting places in Madurai:
    (1) World Tamil Sangam (Ulaga Tamil Sangam)
    (2) Tirumalai nayakkar Mahal and
    (3) make ur visit at Mariamman Teppakulam around 6PM. Bcz it is really a nice place to spend evening time.

That's so frustrating and you got so close! I had something similar happen in Indonesia. I asked for a directions to a viewpoint, hiked for a couple of hours and when I got close to the top I was turned away by 3 local people (no uniform or anything). It wasn't until I got back to my hotel that I was informed that women can't go there on certain days of the week 🤦🤦 I mean, I get it buuuuuuut would have been nice to know beforehand 🤣🤣

      - omg. Wow. So strange.
near the temples in Northern india, I seen countless signs that said women were not allowed to enter if they were menstruating. 🧐

Thanks for posting. Its very sad to know the steps are very dirty. Kindly avoid moving to remote locations where there is no people around you. Places like madurai there are lots of lazy miscreants who may try to loot from your pocket at knife point.like the monkeys. It will become challenge when 2 or 3 guys round up.. Be careful. I was born and bought up in Madurai. Most people are good. But bad people everywhere. Otherwise your trek is inspiring me. Thank you.

    Are monkeys aggressive?

    • @Edgesofearth
      @Edgesofearth  3 года назад +2

      - fortunately, the only incident I have was in Northern india. A monkey jumped on me and bounced off me. Scared the hell out of me. Other times they run up to you and show their teeth as if they're going to jump on you and bite you. But they didn't. Again, terrifying.
But if you want to see how aggressive monkeys can be, do a couple RUclips searches. 😳 I will happily keep my distance.
