The father really lucked out because this seems to be the best case scenario, but this kid isn’t just a crazy psychopath
lmao. that's what i'm saying. Like, the most surprising thing in this story so far isn't that a horde of human-eating alien monsters descended from the literal sky to commit mass murder, it's the fact that this kid who lived in an insanely inhuman environment with an (i'm pretty sure) mentally abusive father for his ENTIRE life didn't turn out to be a severely mentally damaged individual with potential suicidal or homicidal ideations.
@@gumballwatterson3231he might be quite possibly walking the line. The protagonist wasn't starved, sexually assaulted or went through any kind of psychological torture besides imprisonment. He was definitely physically abused but not enough to the point where it should seem fatal.
@@gumballwatterson3231So the MC most certainly did receive mental damage, but children that are exposed to extreme circumstances for a long time can be put in "survival mode" to cope. Look into C-PTSD. Basically the child will always look for the next threat and try to survive it in any way possible. Apply this to the story and the MC has training, education, and the mental fortitude geared all towards the end of the world and a the child would have a better chance to survive. I'm not making light of C-PTSD as I have it but it's interesting to see it applied to the story.
@@timloth2994 I mean you could say that the MC should have severe emotional neglect. If he devoloped severe depression alongside this then the story would probably not get very far because even if he didn't off himself it would be hard for him to have the motivation or care to do the things he needs to do to survive. Likewise his ability to learn and focus while captive would've also went to basically zero as well.
