Tell Evan I sent ya He Will Toss In Some Of My Stickers and a Patch Or Two.
Ask for my frequency to be put on your radio. (Likely To Get Me If You're In Montana)
I will make sure to let Evan know you sent me his way. I appreciate you letting me know what I needed for the radio’s brother. I am good with just about all other areas except for radio’s lol. I really like how you just keep it simple on your channel and letting people know what’s worth having and not worth having. As you said unless you have a Baller budget so that you could afford to buy all the bullshit and not care. Well I am not rich and I enjoy someone letting me know what to get the first time and not waste my money.
I felt like you were literally talking to me in this video. “Yep, I’ve done all the things you’ve done” me, sitting at my desk staring at my unprogrammed UV5R with its Nagoya antenna.
All of us.
CHRIP my friend it's EZ as pie
If you can set up your own wifi then you can program it but hey nothing wrong with supporting RME so it's cool either way if you got the extra $$$
I have that same model. 😂
This is the one you want and the cost pretty much the same but so many features not even $500 radios have Quansheng Uvk5
I have a UV5R that I’ve only ever used to listen to the weather. I don’t even have another one to talk to myself. 😢 Owned it for years. Need some radio pals to chat with.
Chicken and the Egg.
Thank God someone is saying this about ham nerds! So sick of being warned about the most popular radio out there.
The minute someone says software my brain becomes a marble. This will help me greatly.
I absolutely love mine and have used it from everything from talking to the wife to turn the water back on at the main, to my brother who was driving behind me and got a flat. He used one of my radios to call me back. Funny thing is, we had separated for the day and each going home.
He would have been out there forever because his kid lost his wheel lock.
(Do yourself a favor, throw away EVERY wheel lock. They do absolutely nothing to detour crime and only make your life harder)
Oh and one more favor for yourself... RADIO MADE EASY!!!
Making that 12 mile shot with Mr. Evan Roach was only doable with a little height, but allowed me to act as the repeater to you lower down in the valley, as you mentioned. "Height makes might" in radio.
Such a fun experiment.
Yup Evan is good people and deserves the support.
"I'm sick and tired of having to become an expert on everything" I catch myself feeling like that a lot recently. I think it's just a symptom of information being harder to find, and the intelligence of people in charge being much lower now.
Yea I got the exact same radio. Well 2 of them off Amazon that are not programmed, and I have tried to program them with the instructions that come with it, which is a damn nightmare in itself as you said. You have convinced me that I’ll probably just give them two to my kids and I’m gonna order ones off of radios made easy now.
Love my radio made easy radios. Used them out in the desert last week.
Looks like I know what I'm buying myself for Christmas.
I am currently taking the radio prep training, i'll look into these as part of going through it all.
not the video we wanted but the video we needed
Damn it, I wish this kit was around when I get Into Radios several years ago.
Would have save so much time. But after years of perseverance I've got a good grasp on things and am able to help folk in my circle out
Loving all of it👍
I'm a HAM and I must say, our community is interesting. I love the UV5R and I am constantly getting told to shell out for more expensive equipment that does the same thing
Homesteads/ rural people + wildfires, radios are basically required. Lack of cell signal/ telephone poles and power poles burning down.
Keep radios on to help each other out with knowing where the wildfires are spreading.
Also a quick way to relay information to wildfire firefighter teams
Excellent
I love that radio. I got my baofeng and now my NEC is literally mobile comms 😂
I literally just got my twin pack from Amazon .😂 wish I'd seen this 2 weeks ago. But I did manage to pair them to each other and get them to transmit and recieve. I was shocked. BUT you're right they are a PITA to setup if you don't have any experience w them.
Good luck in your journey. haha
@OvertonWindex yeah definitely out of my comfort zone. And shocked I got the 2 working together at all. But I don't have any repeaters or anything else programmed and I'm afraid if I change the settings I'll never get them synced up again haha!!
@@Nayr72 Hahaha I know exactly what you mean. Scared to F with it, Because IT'S WORKING... DON'T TOUCH IT
LOL I have a couple UV5R+ just sitting there. Best I have done is found NOAA to monitor the weather.
Have you looked at any of the Meshtastic stuff? It's text only but having encrypted comms that don't require government/corporate infrastructure could definitely have some use. For me the current range limitations in denser areas is kind of a deal breaker but I'm keeping an eye on it.
The bull xpro is fucking epic mine came in yesterday and fml its huge but so damn good
Definitely getting a pair of these for the wife and I. Any idea on the actual reach with these? I am in densely populate area of FL so maybe it won't be the same for everyone but any idea on ball park reach?
Made this comment before I got to the end of the video lol...
Now that's going to depend completely on your level of "densely populate" area... But all single story, through town, I'm generally getting 3 or 4 miles.
What may be a WAY better option for you would be to get one of his rooftop antennas (you can plug the handheld right into the cable that comes down) For the home base radio. That will get you back out to 10-25 miles.
Again... completely depending... VHF/UHF is "line of sight". That elevation from the roof is going to be huge for you.
@@OvertonWindex I will check out the rooftop antennas...thank you. I appreciate this info since I know most of us have purchased one of these radios and then just put them in the drawer because it takes too much time to program.
Chirp programming software makes it a million times easier to program your radios yourself. Trying to program them directly through the radio will make you want to commit scooter-ankle.
Dammit, probably just cost me a couple grand. Been hearing about Evan’s walkie talkie service and I’m pretty sure you just pushed me over the edge.
Dannngg! Well I don't know what you have planned... but a couple grand is hard to spend there. Tell him I sent ya, He'll throw in a couple of my patches
@@OvertonWindex I live on a large property with little to no cell service. Tired of walkie talkies for family coms. Think i need 5 or 6 all setup rite in bags.
@@workinonitsteve1 grand… 2 three radio kits.
But in your case, I may want to get in touch with him for consulting. He will have worked out for you exactly What is the best move.
Got a question what all upgrades options did you pick of the essentials kit that you got there’s a lot on there. I’m just wondering what you run so I’ll make sure I get the right stuff.
BNC Stubby Antenna (because they're neat)
Magnetic BNC Antenna Base (For extended vehicle use) VERY good in those situations.
cheat sheet too... If you don't like digging into the manual. (or throw it away immediately like me).
RUclips is a substitute for that though, If you're not concerned about not having access to YT.
I got the proho 3 radio kit and it just came in. I bought it so I could communicate with my wife when we’re out and about on the farm, but anyway so it’s ready to go as soon as i get it? I just open it, turn it on, and we can communicate with each other without having to worry about interfering with other channels? I’m new to radios
For those of us that like going down the rabbit hole, would be nice to have walkthroughs from radio made easy. Maybe a fee for a video to ready your own radios.
He does literal classes
Two day “Zero to Hero” class and you’ll learn to program, do it a couple times, and use the radios in hands-on training scenarios! And he’s doing the classes around the country… maybe somewhere close to you!
Was told I need a license to operate these. Should I take the test or just run it ?
I'm not your mother. Nobody cares though (unless you're on repeaters)
Would these things work over a couple miles in a suburban neighborhood for emergency comms in case cell towers go down?
Yes.
The radiomadeeasy guy is making a killing off of that. Good for him though. Where people don't want to learn there is lots of money to be made.
Yeah Mechanics are making a killing... idiots out there with better things to do with their lives than wrench...
Fucking sold.
Promo code? ^.^
Nope, already as cheap as they can be without literally losing money in the long run
@@OvertonWindex eeeeeeeeeehhhhh
Just make something up
bro i bought a radio a year ago and i cannot force myself to study for the test. it's so boring i want to die! why does getting a dangerous drivers license require less knowledge?
Probably because driving is flirting with being a constitutional right.
I doubt theres a repeater in the salt flats which is needed to get farther then a few miles on flat land....the kits from radio are awsome but you should def study how they work to get the most use out of them ....its not as simple as a blister pack plug n play
That's odd.. It's as if youre talking completely out of your ass.
I got 16 miles. AT, the salt flats. last week. One antenna at 6 feet, One at 8 feet (top of truck).
Not only do you have line of sight, You've got crystal clear comms.
And here I am actually with these radios... It's as simple as blister pack plug n play.
Please go unfuck your brain.
@@OvertonWindex thatsbamazing but people shpuldnt expect that type of range on a normal withouth the height. And yes i own radios...radios made easy is a greatcompany...hes going to senf you the best setip possible so u arwnt waisting the $ on upgrades later...plus he checka it to make sure it running at peak performance....But yes but ..someone on your team should def learn how to program in the future after you have a fuctional radios in the meantime..to have a peice of equipment you cant maintine isnt a good idea...like sending your ar in anytime you need it cleaned...in a shtf situation you may add people tp your group who may have radios vit not programmed to comunicate with yor team..so to have a person on team thats avle to program without a pc will be very handy. Plus i go on vacations and it only takes a few min to add those new repeaters wherw you arw visiting....aa you can tell feom my spelling i only have 6th grad education and was able to research and program within a few hours of research...
@@OvertonWindex if u get the new uv-5rm it will copy the download of any other radio..good option
@@OvertonWindex your right you should have got the 13 mile with the setup u got feom easy radio...my smooth brain was just thinking in stock radios
Always shit talking the poors rifles and psa daggers....all the while running the most bootleg cheapo chinese radio available. Its almost like different people have different rates of interest for different hobbies.....
I have all of the radios, of all classes and qualities.
Both subjects, are considered. While knowing more than you.
@@OvertonWindex I have a couple of baofengs as well. But I'm not an advocate of only buying expensive things..
@@joshwells4280 Neither am I...
