    Congratulations to you man! You did 10X more in a 2 min video then 10 other videos did in 10-15min on how to carpet stairs. Thank you for simply doing what the video title says. Very refreshing

    this guy installed the stairs perfectly, I always use a hammer, but that's what I learned with, and sure, it's loud.. whatever, it also has more power, and you need that extra power with certain carpets... either method is acceptable as long as your smart enough to know when it's time to put the mallet down, and grab a hammer... this video poster did a good job, and yeah, he used allot of staples but I'm sure any professional is guilty of that, just trying to get it done fast, and rather be safe then sorry (driving back to job a week later to for one staple) as for the woman asking how to install pattern carpet on curved stairs... You can do it, but you will need a boat load of extra carpet, and you would have allot of waste, and the installer will charge you allot of money if he is smart.. it's not a job for a beginner. .... anyway, good video, nice to see there are SOME good installers...

    Lmao I hope you're on decent money with the amount of staples you used!! Have you forgotten what the pin is for o. The smooth edge lmao... I'm from UK and always wondered how you'd do it in the US, I think I'll stick to the way we do it, with tension and stretching, not staples lmao

  • @purplebudhhasmoker
    @purplebudhhasmoker  10 лет назад

    Curved stairs.... (Stringers First) Apply treads... then risers.... This applies to convex and concave... really any type of custom stair other then types of Hollywood wraps I use a shur-fast stapler with Duo Fast 5418 sp 9/16 hope that helps a bit.

    Actually a rubber mallet is a good choice. 1 Its not light. 2 its quite. 3 if you are going fast and miss it doesn't hurt... mostly in this case I chose it for the fact that it is quite for the video.... In all honesty when I train ppl I get them to use a rubber mallet so when they do miss especially when learning they don't break their hand.... I use a 20oz plumb normally . Also I would like to add after 13yrs of laying floors day in an day out there is absolutely no need to beat the crotch in that hard I would say heavy solid thuds....... I end this saying I will be making more vids on various other types of floors and types of stairs/applications and well I understand its only a 1000 views but I thank ppl for the interest I expected less .... Joe

    Ive installed probably hundreds of these type of steps..I especially hate the ones that have wraps on the side you have to do too...but why is every1 asking whats with all the staples?? Or telling You your not a professional and dont know how to install steps if your using any staples even??? Lmao...I dont think those people know the difference between waterfall steps and steps wrapped around the noses...how else would u get the carpet to stay up formed around the nose??? grippers??? wtf does he mean tackstrips? Personally I like this kind of look on steps over waterfall.

    • @js7919
      @js7919 5 лет назад

      Thank you I was thinking the same , you need all them staples for the carpet to be tight around nosing when you stretch up or it wont hold. Over 20 yrs and never had an issue with staples under nosing

    And one day, after you decide to remove the carpet and refinish your stairs you are left with stairs having millions of staple holes. I hate to see this kind of carpeting when they are putting staples like there is no tomorrow. Try to stay away from this kind of experts! You are supposed to put staples 3 inches apart, not like this. Amateurs!

    • @joesmackdown4505
      @joesmackdown4505 8 лет назад

      removal is what it is .... if you do not use enough staples on the bull nose your stairs will smile at you more staples equals sexier crisp lines 😎

      Rubber mallet is the way to do it and easily gets it into gripper properly! Normal hammer smashes the hell out of your bolster and is way to noisey!
