    You were the only one who made the magic loop make sense. I've never been able to do it until now. Before I did the ch 4 and slip stitch. This whole tutorial was wonderful. Thank you!

    Thank you so much! I've never had a crochet hook in my hands before in my life and it took me just over 3 hours to complete this, but I am so pleased with the result. For a first timer crocheter, it looks really great. I made it for my doll using Aran wool (it was all I had in the house) and it fits perfectly. This is such a great tutorial; so clear and easy to follow. Also, your voice is so soft and lovely.
    Thanks again, I'm def gonna make more otherwise my other dolls will be jealous, haha.

    Yarn: medium weight #4
    Measurement: 13.5 inches circumference (stretchable up to 14.5 inches)
    Hook: 5.00mm /US H
    For the hat:
    - Make magic loop
    - Round 1: chain 2, make 12 dc in the loop. Slip sts
    - Round 2: chain 2, 2 dc in every sts. Slip sts (24 sts)
    - Round 3: chain 2, *2 dc, 2 dc in next sts *, repeat * to * 8x. Slip sts (32 sts)
    - Round 4: chain 2, * 3 dc, 2 dc in next sts *, repeat *to* 8x. Slip sts (40 sts)
    - Round 5-7: chain 2, 40 dc. Slip sts
    - Round 8: chain 1, 40 hdc (crochet all sts in 3rd loop) Slip sts
    - Round 9: chain 1, 40 hdc (crochet all sts in 3rd loop) Slip sts
    - Round 10: chain 1, 40 hdc (crochet all sts in 3rd loop) Slip sts
    For the ears (make 2):
    - Make magic loop
    - Round 1: chain 2, make 12 dc in the loop. Slip sts
    - Round 2: chain 1, *1hdc, 2 hdc in next sts* repeat *to* 6x. Slip sts (18 sts)

    Sew the ears on rounds 2 and 3 of the hat

      Thank you! One thing I noticed-- round 10 switches to a sc not hdc :)

    • @jlhyndman
      @jlhyndman 2 года назад

      Would I do an extra round in the beginning if I’m using baby weight yarn and a smaller hook? I’m worried my hat might be too small. If I do an extra round of increases would that affect the outcome?

    • @mooonwaffle
      @mooonwaffle 2 года назад +1

      @@jlhyndman I think adding an extra round would make it longer, so that would probably help. But you would also probably want to make it wider. I'm not super experienced in crochet, but I would maybe just add a few more dc stiches when you're starting the magic circle? Don't quote me on that. I would just experiment with it.
      Nie also make a video for 0-3 months so maybe you could follow that instead since you have a thinner yarn

    Looking forward to bigger sizes patterns from you, the expert! I used Bernat Giggles...lovely#4 yarn...but I am uncertain about dabbling to make a bigger hat for sizes to a year .

    Thank you for the very easy to follow tutorial! My first try turned out way too small because I used a 4mm hook so I will be using my 6mm hook next time (I don't have a 5mm hook). This project was so fast that I don't mind making another one! Will donate the small one so someone else can enjoy it 😊

    I’m new to crocheting so I loved that you broke it down went at a good slow pace for a beginner! Also loved that you put in how it’s written as a pattern as well because I’m still learning how to read the pattern lingo so it was helpful to see it written out and then explained! My hat turned out great! Thanks for sharing!
