I would never believe a DV could do like this. If i was forced to use that camera it could really go commercial. You just need to run trought Topaz AI it and it would go pretty descent to some modern camcorders

Yeah the fact that the camera can film progressive 30fps instead of only interlaced really makes a surprising difference.

The image quality is amazing. What program did you use to capture the film from the tape?

I used FireWire and Motion DV Studio, but this camera also supports full quality transfers over USB

@@hunsberg To get full quality, are regular Panasonic DVM60 cassettes good enough, or do I need professional Panasonic DVM63 cassettes? Is there a noticeable difference between these cassettes?

Since the signal is digital the video quality will be the same on both. However, if you are rewinding and reusing a single tape multiple times, the DVM63 should hold up longer.

It doesnt handle as much details as modern camcorders and i do not like the colors of the image (i guess i would have boosted saturation on post) but overall it handles lights even better than modern SD camcorders. Seems like the data stored on the film inside the cassette is somehow stores more info about light than about color. The details are crap due to old lens and small sensor i guess

When the camera shoots at 1/50 shutter and you do a frame rate pull down to 23.9, it looks crazy

Unfortunately this model is the NTSC version so I can only go down to 1/60. I have seen other videos with that pull down to 23.9 though and it looks very good!
