The United States was just getting warmed up at Midway. Hell Admiral Yamamoto was against attacking Pearl Harbor. Because he had actually been to the United States before and knew that their Industrial Might once it got rolling was going to outpace Japan by leaps and bounds.
+Thor God of Thunder Well, he knew that Japan could win against America if they managed to take out the American carriers at Pearl Harbour. After failing to do any real damage, he realised that Japan was screwed. American carriers being out of port saved the US.
+DatInsaneGuy yeah; hell they would have Caught the USS Enterprise pulling into Pearl had it not been for a Squall which had forced her task force to slow down for the sake of the Destroyers. Lady Luck was smiling on the Enterprise that day.
Military History Visualized noted one major flaw in Japanese carriers destroyed in Midway. They had no radar and this led to American planes approaching unnoticed until they were in visual range. Yamamoto turned out to be right about USA being "sleeping giant." Demanded by his superiors, he devised quite good strategy aiming for Japanese to gain early advantage to push for peace of American war weariness. Unfortunately for Japanese Imperialists, they lost that gamble in Midway.
Admiral Yamamoto threatened to resign if he was not allowed to attack. He was not against war with the USA, he was just stupid enough to doom all his people over a high stakes surprise attack. Had he succeeded in damaging/destroying our carriers the Japanese would probably have taken midway.
I love this video it's the only one I've seen showing the Marines that held Midway on the ground. Even in the face of certain death, we march forward colors unfurled and with a grin.
Aren't Sabaton ashamed that this song turned out to be so short? I mean, I'm really getting pumped, but after a mere two and a half minutes it's already over! I REQUIRE MOAR MIDWAY! Also, praises to Sabaton from Germany.
A lot of this footage, especially the last thirty-seconds, was taken by legendary film director John Ford. During the war he was an officer with the Office of Strategic Services making documentaries. He went to Midway Island before the attack expecting a battle, and it landed right on his lap. He was wounded in the arm by a bullet or shrapnel. After the war, he became legend with such films as She Wore a Yellow Ribbon and the Searchers, both starring John Wayne.
This is the only SABATON song I have ever heard that has to do with fighting in the Pacific in WWII. They have any number of songs about the war in Europe and a few modern conflicts. It's time for some songs about the battles of the Pacific ! They have a nack for it and there are any number of battles the Marine Corps and Navy fought and won that I'm sure they could make great songs out of.
the turing point in the pacific....... 2 nations went into this battle...the winner will control the pacific and win the war. the winner was usa. respect to sweden and sabaton for making a song about this, maybe most importand of all sea battles!
In the pacific war there was no"defined" battlefield as in Europe (France,Italy,Russia,Africa) 3 Fleets/Armies at War, (IJN,RN,USN),Midway was major as they lost thier carriers, then island hopping came in to reinforce with airstrips(strip could be as bad news as a carrier). the war was not fought on Islands or Ocean, sometimes on land completely. (China,Burma) the British Navy/Army were almost obliterated from start. not sure if Australia got involed openly at any, point but they were a target
+Daniele .Modelling Russian? This battle was fought between the United States and the Japanese. It has about as much to do with Russia as the battle of Hastings.
BlackForestVideos it's embarrassing to know these assholes are defending Japan. While I agree the nuke was kinda overkill and the camps were sorta like how Germany did. They at least had schools. Also Japan was eager to have more territory and they didn't give a fuck of how they did it. Even the banzai attacks were considered horrible. America kicked japans ass for how they acted and deserved it. But now in modern times we move on from the war.
hard life, but much nicer than the Army. I know quite a few people who enjoyed it. They take pretty good care of their own. In order of creature comforts in the US: Army > Marines > Navy > Airforce. So airforce & navy are both relatively easy as far as pay/barracks/etc.
@JoeRingo118 Chains could be used as well. sometimes, the concepts merge. resulting in things such as a Halberd, a Katana,a Rapier or a Morning Star. back onto projectiles.Arrows and Javelins can be varied in ammo. @JoeRingo118 and on to the melee weaponry. very basic stuff. easily outdated and reconcepted Pikes and Spears turned into Machine Guns, which stop waves of people, keep thier heads down. or slow up a charge (Calvary) Swords are up close weapons of course, but it can be used in a variety of ways. as a piercing weapon (Rapier = Sword+Spear or Dagger more or less) a slashing weapon (Katana i see a bit of Sword and Axe here). Daggers were concealed or offhands (Pistols) (Cont)
@TH3AnimeFreak I didn't forget about the millions of Soviet troops. In the one week that they fought the Japanese they lost over 13,000 dead but Stalin didn't care. They also took Korea down to the 38th parallel which is why we had the Korean War and the murderous regime in North Korea. If the Japanese had only surrendered on August 6th when the first A bomb was dropped this all could have been avoided.
You would be :P It's mostly related to duties performed and combat demand as well as beauracracy. Army is much more "in the field", so their training reflects it. Compare army and air force. Instead of spending a day every week flying fighter jets, you spend a day every week in the mud. Except you can get more training in because it's cheaper, so 4 days a week in the mud. Plus, Army is a larger branch, more beauracrats and hence more regulations.
The parts for the needle are btw, and they depend on length except for 1 The Arterys,The Heart,(And a consiberable sized one)The Brain if missed properly. although.in case of reference,my favorite weapon, the rapier seems to be at times just an oversized needle with a hilt. i wonder where it got its idea from, knives can be like needles at times too. sometimes it seems the tool becomes the weapon, or the weapon, the tool when further looked at by either side, one can make the other do better.
@JoeRingo118 Bread dosent require killing no Yeast,Wheat,Flour not sure on that but heres the things i know that need killed to eat. Pork (Pig) Beef (Cattle) Poultry (Chicken) Venison (Baby Deer) Fish Game (Squerriel,Deer,Bear at times,Fox,Chipmunks) theres alot of damn coal around here too. and after you get of HS, you go to the Mines,Power Plants,College or the Military Railroad if not fast food. Trees and mountains galore..not a whole lot of call for electronics or executive jobs here
I'm Canadian, so I only know of the system here. But I would assume that the skills required for each soldier depending on their branch is probably the reason for it. Takes a lot more training to be a Naval & Airforce combattant, from what I've seen and read. Therefore, I'd think their services are arguably more demanded. But I'm no military expert, so I may be brutally incorrect
@cHr0n0sPh3r3 anything that fires missles, oversized artillery shells...i consider those guns too.... just.... REALLY big ones....aircraft were the death setence for the battleship....something will eventually outdo the carrier. but whatever the hell it is, i hope its on our side
@JoeRingo118 you can reattach parts today to a point, assuming the wound isint either too severe or has been off for a bit. older times you get to walk around with a nice infected very painfully beat up body with no hope for treatment save by means similar methods of first aid. to a degree. the bullet wound, concussions and even limb ripping explosions can be fixed, with a hell of alot less pain due to medicine and you might live. sounds better then a sword,"Body" damage to me,anyway
@MrMrwarriorz dont worry. i saw there was no point at arguing in at that point,i aint wasting breath on a wall. Sabaton supposedly has a new CD coming, Lead singer did a song with Desert that wasent bad. The Soldier's Lament
Before the gun there was a certain tool used, and actually.its never become obsolete,it killed possibly more people then the gun has as its been around longer. and theres times in history the two have clashed, the gun won of course. people from far back as Ghengis Khan up to the coloniel Native American used it. and it has tooken many forms, the concept is simple. easy to make. easy to use,it was made to kill, no argument there,it was also used to gather food. people still use it.

@JoeRingo118 im just curious with that question to see if you remember your science classes,if you graduated HS if your still in. its actually rather simple.
From looking at it... taking off from a carrier looks hard as **** with even just a normal engine airplane.... how the hell do jets pull it off, curious
@tiermitbier You really need to learn some history. After Midway the US won every battle with the Japanese and had the troops assembled to invade Japan in November of 1945. It was to be called operation "Downfall". By most estimates the atomic bombs saved about 1,000,000 US and about 10,000,000 Japanese lives. The atomic bombs were dropped on August 6th and 9th, 1945 and the Japanese surrendered on August 15th. Thank God there was no need for an invasion.
Midway was the turning point in the Pacific Campaign. If the USA lost at Midway, you can expect most of Asia would be controlled by Japan. Had Nimitz not been so clever to say that the water purifiers were broken Japan would have attacked Midway without our Carries there and lost. Because of them losing all four of their carriers and lose a very large portion of their veteran pilots the whole war would be a disaster. Sheer luck and cunning won Midway.
okay then. i have an axe around here. the object of my destruction is usually trees. i also have a shotgun, which... quite frankly i can think of far worse weapons to use,the only thing thats it ever drew blood from is a squerriel although chewing BBs wasent fun so that stopped. oh and just for reference. what KIND of shotgun.

A lesson on Fighting Spirit: At Midway the difference between being a Warrior People 200 years ago and being one today became painfully apparent!
The United States was just getting warmed up at Midway. Hell Admiral Yamamoto was against attacking Pearl Harbor. Because he had actually been to the United States before and knew that their Industrial Might once it got rolling was going to outpace Japan by leaps and bounds.
+Thor God of Thunder But maybe he still had thought that Japan could scare America.
+Thor God of Thunder Well, he knew that Japan could win against America if they managed to take out the American carriers at Pearl Harbour. After failing to do any real damage, he realised that Japan was screwed. American carriers being out of port saved the US.

My favorite part about this video is the comments. The Weaboo presence is hilarious, their attempts at defending the Japanese makes me laugh.

Russian? This battle was fought between the United States and the Japanese. It has about as much to do with Russia as the battle of Hastings.

Admiral Spruance judged and he gambled and he won, as a former surface ship commander who happened to be very good at carrier command.

Nice to meet you ;)

That good business for the weapons industry.. that is the true root of the wars, except some occasions, you just need an "excuse"...

I love heavy metal
@ChuutRiit I think the short length was intentional. My theory is that it is representative of how quickly the Japanese carrier force was destroyed.
@JoeRingo118 Chains could be used as well.

They use a kind of catapult that greatly increases acceleration :)
