Grady Martin also played on Marty Robbins' El Paso. Some of my all time favorite acoustic leads. Thanks Damian Love Grady ,Gene Vincent ( also one of John Lennons favorite early Rockers ) and Cliff Gallup.
@@jakeborish3597 absolutely correct.Great playing ,l misheard .Charlie said he was influenced by Grady's playing on El Paso.l deleted so not to misinform.
Grady's licks on El Paso are also some of my favorites. Have them all tabbed out. There is a RUclips video of Marty Stuart doing El Paso with his band, the . Fabulous Superlatives. Kenny Vaughan does Grady's licks, and embellishes a couple of them. All while making it look effortless -- which I know it's not. Even Marty was impressed, as evidenced by his reaction @ the end of the song. Check it out. Highly recommended.
Damian, you always reference such great rockabilly, jump blues, and early rock songs. If you have a Spotify playlist, or ever put one together, of songs that inspire you, please let us know!
Thanks for checking in. I was one of the fortunate ones that had no loss of power and no damage. About 7 miles away closer to the shore, many homes were flooded from storm surge. The Tampa Bay area really lucked out this time. Sadly our neighbors to the north of us weren't so lucky.
Hola Damian! What program do you use to transcribe the tabs? The ones that I use do not allow me to transcribe without bars and I always mess with the notes duration, I have to take my time to do it correctly
Hey Damian, great job acknowledging Grady Martin. He was a tour de force. I'm relieved there's still folks out there who are wholly aware of players like Martin, Garland, and other session aces at a very important time in our musical history. I'm in Gainesville, and if you're ever interested, some day I'll mosey down to Tampa and buy ya lunch.
Holy Shnikes! i was not expectin you to do Grady Martin! i know him from Johnny Horton! Gradys stuff with Horton was some of the best, i recommend you check out "One Woman Man" and "Honky-Tonk Man" By Johnny Horton, to really hear what Grady did with Johnny! Yeehaw!
Glad you enjoyed the video. I've been planning on doing a performance/lesson video of "One Woman Man" sometime soon. It's one of my favorites by Johnny Horton :)
@@Damianblf Thats awesome! im lookin foreward to that one! oh another song that i reccomend is "Take Me Like I Am" By Johnny Horton as well, that one also has Grady playing lead as well!

When you look at it tabbed it looks so simple... amazing how many cool patterns they got from this and how easy it is to try similar but make it sound awful.... ask me how I know!! :)
