In my opinion, that’s the magic of this pice. Its title can remind of the scenario the song proposes: a bird having fun with a sack of fubá. The melody helps giving the final touch for the fun situation.
Vibrante. Que bom com a partitura. O chorinho brasileiro com suas síncopes, arpejos e escalas conseguiu dar vida ao que aparenta ser exercícios de um método.
Mr. Barton! What a great musician you are! I have the greatest admiration for you! And what piano technique you possess!!! You are able to play almost anything.... the Chopin etudes, the “48”, and so on. WHAT A GIFT!!! You are BLESSED. I am a physician and l started learning to play the piano at age 17 yeas; that was the time l arrived to England to attend boarding school and thereafter medical school. I have been in the USA in 1970. I have developed arthritis, murderous insomnia and 24/7 FATIGUE which prevents me from playing the piano. Please, keep up the magnificent work.

That took me back forty years. I played this song when living in Brazil around 1981. There’s a page on the internet somewhere with like a hundred different renditions of the song which is pretty interesting to listen to. This was nicely played. I especially liked the off beat accents.
Golly! All those repeats have got my fingers dropping off, and I am only LISTENING to you, Paul! Thank you for your splendid performance. I play only the popular music version, which is written in quavers, not semis, and has a somewhat simpler left hand. But I couldn't please my Daddy. He wanted Ethel Smith playing her celebrated Hammond organ version. (It's here on RUclips.)
Great version of Tico-Tico ! Whenever I hear this tune it reminds me of the way I first heard it - at the hands of the original Queen of the Hammond - Ethel Smith who played it in a Movie & recorded it. Well worth a listen for those who like the tune.
Don't laugh, I saw that movie (can't think of the name)and while I felt the musical number was very well-done and made an impression on the audience, the Hammond Organ just sounded feeble. Piano would have been a better choice.
It's true that you may need to like the Hammond sound to fully appreciate the Ethel Smith version. It's also clear that in a film about bathing beauties in that day, Ethel Smith would end up in the film. What counts today is probably that most listeners know the tune because of her. Her instrumental album including this tune sold well in the day.😎
@@klavier1us I totally agree and please don't think I am undermining Ethel Smith's virtuosity on the organ. She played jazz at a time when the usual organ fare was Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D minor". ( not sure about key of Bach). Her performance in the movie was a show-stopper and "she swung it out of the park."
My sister played this. Also all Jan August piano. My sister could play anything by ear. Enjoyed performing. I played for our radio station but once. Thought it would be a breeze. Sat at the piano. Froze.
I remember picking this piece up and it being much more difficult than it sounded, and I was playing Maple Leaf Rag, Rachmaninoff preludes etc. I have to say though it is a great pity Paul chose not to become a concert pianist because his interpretations are some of my most favourite of all. This piece is a delight with the light tough for the melody quite unlike all the other pieces on RUclips. Paul you should release a CD because you are certainly wasted just teaching and producing you tube content.
my problem is that I'm just a beginner and I want to play this so much... what a brilliant arrangement, and the rhythm is irresistible! I wonder after how many years are needed to being able to play it.
An old staple when learning the accordion. Of course pushing left hand bass buttons is a lot easier than forming chords as beautifully as you've done here.
Thank you SOOOO MUCH! My father played this when i was a little girl all the time. Since he past, I wasn't able to remember the name or anything. So Happy I found this. It brings back such great memorize. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Cheers.
Love for your father ❤️
Anette Puskas Where are you from? Your father was Brazilian? Just out of curiosity
Wow you have good father.
Oh what good news😄
It's challenging for sure and very bright and nice. Your father knew how to pick a piece that would delight a little girl.
