8:05 The software ONLY works if you have Lightroom or Photoshop or Bridge or Capture1. If you don't have any of those you can't even see if the editing part works at all... No jpg exports, no previews inside Aftershoot. Support told me that most of the AI editing sliders are based on LR. I can try to read the edits from the XMP on other apps, but it may be incompatible. And it is incompatible. Can't do anything with Affinity Photo or Darktable. And I get that +1 Saturation from one software to another could lead to different results, therefor all other software will probably read the XMP but take no action. Welp, I just hope the uninstallation and deleting the account is easy. Edit: There is no way to delete the account from the website. I'll have to send an email and politely ask to. I could have saved a couple hours if it was clear at 8:05 that this software works only with Adobe and C1. How is it still legal to not have a delete my account button on websites?
Thank you for writing this comment i was about to hit send. but thankfully i use multiple monitors and was scrolling the comments while checking out their site. you are a god send. subscription is a no. no real exports is a no.
The best thing about this software that you didn’t mention is the fact that everything happens locally on your machine, no need to upload your photos after a shoot to get edited in a server somewhere. No Wi-Fi necessary either.
But it's still subscription model, so you have to have internet connection at least from time to time so it would check if you paid. Also if it's one and done app I kind of hate subscription model, much prefer to pay full for the full version, and then for updates if I deem them necessary for me
Thank you for this tutorial, Fstoppers! 💜 We are so excited to be the best personal assistant to any photographer that wants to have more time shooting rather than staying behind a desk! We have a 30 day free trial - no credit card needed - so in case anyone wants to try it, we can’t wait to show you it’s magic ✨
You guys should really consider the Topaz pricing model, you buy the software and you get a year of updates, after the year you can keep your software as is, but if you want to get a better software you pay another year.
Interesting. There's a similar solution for those that take 625 images at a portrait session or 5000 images at a wedding. It's called discipline. Stop overshooting. Just stop. As a retired full-time commercial photographer for 20 years, I can assure you that time is money. So all those "free" images you're creating chain you to your desk. Just stop it.
Not only that, but there is no way to cancel the subscription other than talking directly to them, no cancel button anywhere. And of course they are going to try to talk you out of it, give you offers, asking you why are you cancelling. Over all good software, but terrible customer experience.
So I’m surprised you didn’t mention about the pricing structure. For this program, you pay monthly or yearly and it’s another subscription service. I mean, it has very interesting capabilities, but it’s another subscription service.
timesaver! ...but A.I. technology is advancing so quickly that i can see how the software will eventually take each subject in an image and treat it like an A.I. object - for example, in a family photo if the dad has his eyes inadvertently closed, the A.I. can 'open' his eyes or maybe change the expression of a crying child to a smiling one. it would just used all the images of the subjects as training dataset to manipulate an outcome. at THAT point, we start asking the question: where does the photographer's creativity and talents end and where does A.I.'s begin?
After the apocalypse we'll probably have to start painting our family portraits, but until then yeah the machines are probably going to progress making talent irrelevant.
Thanks for this great video. I shoot 2 things, lots of business headshots and events. Can the software find faces and adjust lighting to just the subjects faces, like Luminar Neo? And can it batch edit dozens, with various adjustments of RAW photos? Thanks!
the absolute hardest of passes. Couple's dont pay thousands of dollars for wedding photos so AI can decide how they should look. They hire me for my culling eye and editing style. I wouldnt ever outsource any of these tasks to another human let alone AI. This stuff needs to stop.
Also ran into the DNG Converter update issue... unfortunately, I had to go through the process of the edits for an 8,000 photo album twice... then contacted support and was told to update the DNG Converter... then, went back and saw there was an update available to train my profile on the new exposure and white balance (merely 4 hours after I had downloaded and installed the new software)... I'm afraid that whatever time I save by using this will wind up getting eaten by trying to get the software to work... Do I see the benefit, yes. Do I like that there's a 30-day trial, yes.. but this could be done much more smoothly IMO.
This is scary, but on a positive note it could add to my clients list. I have a trip to Lisbon, Portugal in July. I wonder how fast it will do if I upload my daily images to this software. They will think I am a beast with editing. lol
Looking great! But... to get all the features you showed you need a $40/month plan. That's pretty stiff considering Lightroom for example is only $9.99/month.. obviously not a direct comparison between the two, but still. Professional weddings/events photographers will probably be able to justify this with no issues, but for a regular guy who shoots personal stuff - not so much.
Are you telling me that i should buy a Sony a9III and shoot at 120 FPS on auto mode so I don't need to do anything else for the rest of my life? Every moment will be captured with the "best exposure" possible, then the AI will select the piures, frame them and do the color grading, even maybe the retouch and then I just need to send it by email to my client? Just a little question more... should I know how to take pictures or its optional?
@@HaggenKennedy I believe you only need the 720$ plan if you want to use it on 2 machines simultaneously. If you don’t intend to use it on your laptop and desktop at the same time; the 240$ or the 480$ plan will work for you!
honestly, this is the first reliable batch editing that I've ever seen. I shoot so many events in a year, this saves me weeks of editing. fucking worth it. only if you are paid to do so.

You shouldn’t be surprised. Guy gets a commission for each sale.

Impressed with the culling but not impressed with the editing. (in this video) Seems that presets will do just as good.
Does the software do any type of skin retouching?
Probably in the future! 👀

How does this work with interior/real estate photography?

No

No prices mentioned nor the fact that this tier of editing is almost $500/year. At least you can pay yearly. I'm talking to you Lumimar Neo.
$500/year if you have one device. If you're like me, and use a desktop and a notebook, the price goes up to $720/year.
