@@mariahland 2016s tone is much better than 2017s LOL mostly the sound system was bad, there was almost no reverb or delay on the 2016s performances which made the tone sound bad and dry on mid to high belts. 2017 always sounds dry and forced even on low 4th octave but weirdly its fixed at upper belts, her tone was really good above BB4 and up. It sounded like she was very free while sustaining a C5 or D5 but sturggling on G4 (You cant see it on the "when christmes" part that parts sounds dry and bad but when she comes to the "COMEEEES" part her tone fixes itself :D

Im sorry but she was only good at VOL, upper belts tone was good but the she was sooo bad at midrange, this is her worst tone ever. 2017 IS the Mariah's worst year. She prob. attempted and succeded the high notes more than 2018-2020 but her midrange was so raspy and forced. You could hear the struggle on just continiues phrases, even an continius phrase at C4-G4 was a struggle for her. Her voice was really thick and didnt have much agitly bc of it.

I mean to be fair she was suffering from bronchitis in the Asian leg, got better by the Oz leg. But the tour is barely like 2 months, and I personally feel that you shouldn’t categorize a two month era with some vocal problems as a whole with that year.

The extra weight contributed to the darker, fuller sound of Mariah's middle and lower registers much like when Maria Callas was heavier. Much like Adele, their voices also sounded lighter when they lost a significant amount of weight.
