ran a 545 cat last winter,brother on a 555. a 848 beside us...skidded steeper slopes and never boomed up....just rock the arch,transers traction....and don't spin!
Had he put brush on the hill, the chains will catch it and climb right over it no problem at all. I run a 948 every day, since they came out. Have been operating skidders for fourty years now. I'm 59 years old....lot of experience under the belt
From someone a little naive who isn't a logger, wouldn't it be a little more advantageous to take a few less trees and be able to climb the grade without having to push the skidder so hard and also use a little less fuel maybe? I'm just asking....
Could of done that with a 540G John deer cable skidder. Just sucked them up in your apron, hit fifth, and engaged the differential lock. That's to much machine for such a little skid
i agree tiger cat out pull that jd if i was skidding in those hill i wood take smaller drag and pull up hill with out stopping and try to push my self up it a lost of time wen yu end up pushing yure self smaller drag and steady up hill no sopping for notting production men it all it count at the endb of the day i am 60 year old i ran skidder all my life production cut block british columbia alberta saskat chewan i i still run skidder ultimate 4x4 and loving it
Jean Roux yeah that be true. I think they was trying to show what it can do. Given what our E625C does in 25 to 30 degree (not percent) hills and not jump ups then I am happy with the slower ground speed. Can lump on in and lump on out easily
A tigercat can pull that hill with a drag 2x that size. I worked with a guy who ran a 948 prototype a few years ago, it was garbage. The parkbrake wouldnt come off half the time, wouldnt go into gear etc. it had so many problems. Now he drives a tigercat with a swing seat and will never go back to jd. I pulled bigger drags up steeper hills with an 848h where a cat 535 stalled out and would only pull catwalks with half the drag, but jd has nothing on tigercat. Period.
Cummins_12valve86 cable would've worked better here than the grapple on the jd,southeast guys laugh at this, terrain is way steeper than this, grapple saves a whole lot of time but in some cases, being stuck, have some cable to pull you out
Mine uses roughly 60-75 gallons per day, I have used 100 a day in really wet conditions. I usually on a good day skid about 15-17 loads, sometimes less, some times more
So whats significant to being a Texas logger and productivity? I logged in Minnesota for a number of years. The seasons are critical. You have a short window and thats it! Dudes here are just having fun, wtf dose Texas have anything to do with anything?
Holy shit, a skidder operator that knows how to boom himself

Very Very good operator, & a beast of a machine.
Gee had no idea that their are so many professional loggers on RUclips
Nah they're all set hands
He knows how to operate it correctly, but if he knew what to do he never would have stopped moving
Had he put brush on the hill, the chains will catch it and climb right over it no problem at all. I run a 948 every day, since they came out. Have been operating skidders for fourty years now. I'm 59 years old....lot of experience under the belt
@@brucevick2012 I agree if he brushed his trail that baby walk right up over that hill
The operator ended up walking that wood up nicely. That bloke knows his shit.
Nicely done
47% (percent) slope and 47 (degrees) arent the same... 100% slope is equal to 45 degrees slope
That's a real operator
That's why the cable ones are better in rougher terrain.
It's not even steep or rough terane
@@samphillips4656I think it is.

Nothing like john deere and one he'll of a operater
ace operator
I wonder if it's tires or even loaded with calcium?
Excelente conductor...

The new L's are badass machines!
u can see its straining
Where is the differential lock lever located at on a 648 older skidder
Split the drag in half climb the hill go back for other half. That was painful to watch. Rookies
looks like a inch worm up a 47% slope.
it looks like to big of a drag and it looked like it was running over tree tops to so that would not help things at all
47% haha what ever lucky if it's 25%
Right child's play! I used to do that with a cat 525c with single tires and no chains!
Clark 666c wouldhave winched that drag up there no sweat. Grapples suck in that situation.
Tiger cat would pull that skidder and the wood up that no problem

No I agree it looks like nothing at all but it's seriously 47%

how would the tigercat compare to a timberjack/lokomo 933?
@@toddepperson7849 use the grapple to get yourself out ain't hard we use grapple in the Rockies
How many us gallons a day of fuel does it inhale?

70 gallons

76
More like 30%.
What a piece of fuckin shit
He's not pulling anyhow. Looks like pushing to me.
poor performance ! no pull , just push.
With all that time wasted, how about a couple less trees and machine would of crawled right up. Love John Deere skidders!
my caterpillar would of walked right over that
I’m not really impressed
Don't know what there doing
That wasn’t even close to 47%, keep dreaming

why dogg a machine just cause it has that much power smh, u couldnt be a texas logger!!!
East Texas logger here 😎
