This video is right on time. My hair stays hard/dry. Despite using sulfate free shampoos, deep conditioning, the LCO method, etc., my hair remains dry! I am struggling with this low porosity 4b/4c hair! 😫
Charee Mason yes right on point - low porosity hair NEEDS heat! Once I started warming my liquid, creams and oils, using a heating cap for my deep conditioning -my hair game changed drastically. And adding steaming made it even better.
Yes, I agree with Charee. Also check the ingredients in products you use. I have Low and medium porosity hair but I know that for some people, if they use products that have silicones, it can give that dry effect. Also, if you are not drinking enough water, you can have the same effect. Also how often do you moisturize? So many factors even your health and medication you take can cause the dry issue

One ☝️ what are you using at night? Are you using a satin scarfing or bonnet? Do you deep condition with heat? sulfate shampoo strip your hair. Big mistake. how often are you stripping the oils from hair with the sulfate shampoo?
I always make sure water in my hair so that I get the moisture. Make sure that every single product have water in it . Deep condition is 4c hair best friend
I love boiled eggs. They are zero points for weight watchers. I now shampoo weekly and deep condition and mini twist with Shea butter and lessen protein and finally my high porosity hair is staying moisturized. I love the avocado mask from natural club too.
Whenever I use water to moisturize (not washing), it leaves my hair rough. I deep condition weekly as well as do a hot oil treatment. It is also like that if I use my hair steamer. I use a leave-in and seal after but it just doesn't matter. It must be my water is too hard. I don't wet it anymore without shampooing. I think sometimes hair gets hard because so many products have tons of humectants in them. My hair can't take all the glycerin, propylene glycol, aloe and whatever else is in every product without getting tangled and dry. I now use a leave-in without them, apply hair grease, and my hair is much softer, much longer.
It is always important to do what works for your hair. As you can see, trying one method and then revamping it to suit your own hair has deemed fruitful.
Sounds like you may need to clarify your hair with an apple cider vinegar rinse, if your hair gets rough when water is used you likely have a lot of product build up from the the grease. Try the Acv rinse. Tons of videos on RUclips and it helped me with that same problem.
For years I wondered why my hair would be dry and crunchy feeling. Then I started watching your videos and realized I needed to hydrate my hair more often and I started deep conditioning on my wash day. Now it remains soft with less breakage. And yes like you I prefer to eat my eggs not apply them to my hair lol😀🥚🍳
I know for me the solution was using products that work consistently. Like my hair would not retain moisture if I kept changing products every wash day. I have 4c high porosity and thick creams and butters work best for me. Lighter thin products are only good as refreshers.
Thank you so much. We actually have a family vlog where we share a lot on how we raise our kids. Here is one on raising our teenager ruclips.net/video/gQZaVbBvNXs/видео.html
Thank you. I hope that women of color in different parts of the world listen to you. I get so mad at how my sistas treat their hair like it's a Brillo Pad. Then they pile on the grease or oil and press the life out of it. Knowledge is key
I have dye-ravaged, thick 4c bushy Afro hair. I got a Kativa Keratin Post-treatment KIT, used Pureflex Bond conditioner, Inkey Volumiser lotion and BBlonde bonder lotion along with a Asian Soja oil. My hair is sooo soft, 90% less shedding, tongs easier and less breakage! I was lazy, now I'm going to deep condition my dry hair weekly. Also I added ginger mixed with oil. Keratin is awesome! Try it! Uk 🇬🇧
Congrats on your daughter's achievements!!this video is right for me cause my hair is very hard all the time.ive been natural for five years and never moisturize and deep condition it.thanks for the advice.keep the vids coming♥️♥️♥️♥️

Lol aww such a proud mom! Thank you for your information. I agree. I have Incorporated deep conditioning and my hair is do so much better. If I am in a hurry and don't do it..I notice.
so happy for your daughters achievement ma...i do all this you mentioned to my hair but it stills feels frizzy and dry..or am i protein sensitive?i use sunny isle shampoo and conditioner, sunny isle jamaican deep conditioners, aloe vera gel as my leave in and, mane choice sealing cream, mane choice hair butter and castor oil.sometimes i spray the hair lightly with water first but it takes times to dry

I’ve also found that using products with parabens and silicone also makes your hair hard. I only use Lush’s avocado co wash for my hair and when I first started using it the build up from my old shampoo and conditioner regimens weighed down my hair big time, but eventually the build up got out of my hair, it looked awful going down the drain but worth it.
This video was soooo funny and informative, I definitely love the laid-back feel! Congrats Iya Eniola the success of your daughters is a result of all the amazing work you put in!!🎊🎉🎊
Yes my hair is always hard and recently was always breaking, Its still dry but I am working hard on it as you can see from my last video. Hairfinity have also asked me to be a Brand ambassador based on that video I think so I am happy. Little but sure steps in the right direction :)
Lol...DN. I rather eat my eggs too. You are 100% right on deep conditioning. I want from every two weeks DC to every single week :) My hair is softer, stronger and retaining length..No! healthy length. Another informative video.
I used to have dry crunchy hair no matter how much water I would spray into it daily. Then I started adding glycerin to my spray mix and that was the first best thing I did to my hair. The second one being sealing with cocoa butter, not much, very little. Those 2 make my hair really soft. But don't go overboard with glycerin or your hair will turn out mushy. I live in Cameroon in a very humid area so it works for me. Hope this helps someone struggling woth dry and crunchy hair.
I like you. Your fun!!! You put a smile on my face today my sistah. My hair is natural and i have to admit i always wonder why my hair is dry after one day. Now I will use this method and let you know the result. Thx.
I love your energy! So fun...My hair is dry. I am going to an all natural stylist who makes her own products. How do you keep your locs moisturized? I work out in the gym and have a rountine of drying my hair etc after...
I attribute a combination of using moisturizing products and also drinking lots of water to the moisture. Here is how I Moisturize ruclips.net/video/QEhLHWc9scI/видео.html
I use to have dry hair until I switched up my styling product. I used Eco Styler because it would hold my style longer (wash & go), but my local grocery store had Miss Jessie’s on sale and I bought her Coily custard and I’ve been fine every since. I also ALWAYS use a leave in conditioner and I do a deep conditioner on every wash day. Congrats to your daughter!!
Are you low porosity? Deep conditioning with heat can be a game changer. Also, once you apply for leave in, you may need to reapply in 2-3 days to maintain moisture.
I was in the middle of watching Black Panther and then I got a notification that you posted, so I clicked very fast🤣. Thanks for posting another helpful video Sola! And congrats Eniola!!!!! Peace and love to you and your family.
I use a diy conditiiner i use egg with then loc method with my platic cap so i moisture it bac. I onky use egg every 3 weeks i use the same methid without egg once a week on wash day. But i loc and lco everyday
My daughter who is high porosity likes my dna leave in as a liquid leave in and then follow with a hair butter or Sheamoisture restorative conditioner. Check this out bit.ly/DN_High_Porosity_Hair_PL

Wow! You are so on point. I love your spirit almost contagious.😊I had a smile on my face throughout. I just recently started following a routine in caring for my natural hair and since I added deep conditioning to my regiments I started seeing massive difference. I also avoid washing my hair when I am tired or deep conditioning when tired because I tend to rush it through and less gentle with my hair. P.s Congrstulstions in your daughters award. Is it graduation from high school if you don’t mind me asking? Thank u.

Arielle Jackson if your hair isn't naturally curly theres nothing you can use to make it that way unless of course you perm certain products are only used to enhance the curl pattern you already have
I just cut my hair two weeks ago and this is my problem right now! The back and sides of my hair stays moisturized just fine. The crown & front REFUSE to do anything but frizz up and be hard and dry. Serious curls all around and a (reeeally dry) undefined, super frizzy, hard fro at the top. It’s like my hair belongs to two different people. I clarified it and it doesn’t even feel clean anymore from all the leave ins I put in it, but I know washing it again will just make it MORE dry and frizzy. I just bought a shower filter thinking maybe it’s hard water. I’m frustrated. lol
Thanks for your video. I have been natural since December 2016 but my hair (4c) has not grown. I keep having splits ends. I used castor oil, argan oil, peppermint oil, virgin hair fertiliser, leave-in conditioners, deep conditioners and yet I'm still struggling. Kindly advice. Thank you
It could be a number of things. Feel free to contact me on my Natural Hair Facebook page DiscoveringNatural and send me a message there so that we can work one on one to resolve your issue. I used all that too with the same results. This winter I went back to Blue Magic hair grease. I shampoo, use Tresemme Curl Hydration conditioner as a leave-in, add the Blue Magic and twist and set on perm rods. No more single strand knots or dry hair. My hair is curly and stretched and the best its felt in a long time. To moisturize and reset, I just add a little conditioner and grease, twist and set on the rods again. Works like a charm. I am sooo happy.

Hey Sola 💋 First off, Congrats to Eniola 💥...Q: Is there a measurement for Aloe Water and Water? When and How can I use the DIY spray? You are right I haven't done anything to my hair (almost have locs) in weeks. Enjoyed the vid! TFS 👋
When you started speaking yoruba i subscribed and you’re right about the egg. People don’t know the diff between deep condition and protein treatment. When ppl use protein they have to deep condition because it leaves hair dry. I have high porosity hair so i need protein 😭. After i do the protein, i deep condition and then put shea butter. My hair gets so soft. It is unbelievable and when ever i need to re do a new style i spray water with castor oil and detangle, and it goes back to being so soft with barely any shedding ❤️.
Charlene Stewart I’m high porosity too! I love sola because she has been helping me grow and take care of my hair now I know to use a moisturizing DC after a protein treatment!
Great points. My hair was so soft and moisturized. I tried rice water rinse ONCE 3 weeks ago and my hair went crazy. Dry. Brittle. I realized my hair doesn't like that protein. I've been deep conditioning every week and it feels better but not the way is was 3 weeks ago. Any tips to help protein overload faster?
Thanks. Recovering from protein overload is a gradual process. Just remain consistent in what is working. More on protein overload bit.ly/DN_Protein_Moisture_Overoad
Kortney Golden I agree it takes time but for now hot oil treatments, and get a steamer!! Use the steamer with aussie moist or tresemme conditioner. Stay away from protein based shampoos and conditioners for now!! Also switch up your styling routine. My hair is so soft now. For the loc method I use avocado oil by now, tgin leave in and kinky curly curling custard. Slick your edges down also with the kinky curly curling custard. No eco, or nothing. Your hair will bounce back. I promise! And I am a licensed cosmetologist. Keep me posted my dear! Moisture, moisture, moisture!
Kortney Golden awesome luv! I promise you it will return. I also read that rice water was poisonous. RUclips it when you can. Not sure if that's true, but I heard the fermentation is just too strong, which makes total sense. I have no desire to try it. If you are looking to grow your hair take biotin supplements although it made everything grow on me! Lol! Also jbco makes my hair grow but it does not mix well at all with the kccc! The molecules are too large.
I just finished combing out my locs yesterday and was so excited to wash, deep condition, detanlge and moisturize but my hair felt so stiff. Idk what to so
I feel your hair will feel better overtime with proper cleansing and conditioning. Using a leave in conditioner is also beneficial. Here are some wash day routines ruclips.net/p/PLCT7rEmj0XkxOPCjytLVd1Vs-om5h6NQl
The number 1 reason Naturals have dry hair consistently? Chemicals in the products they use. Take it from me. I used to buy high quality hair products that had ingredients in them I couldn't pronounce. They would work wonders for my hair for a few weeks and then, wow, my hair would turn to straw. This happened over and over again. If you have very porous hair, you simply can't use products with chemicals because the chemicals go straight into your strands and ruin them. All that glitters is not gold. If your hair is consistently dry, nourish it with ALL natural products and put it in braids or twists for 2-4 weeks. Let it rest and recover. Never go back to the chemicals.
I have high porosity and all the natural products dried mine out. Now I use silicones and all the "bad" stuff I used when i was natural in the 70's, which includes hair grease. My hair is finally looking and feeling good.
Try Uncle Harry's - Spray Conditioner, Beijor Flor - Argan Shampoo; Tropical Isle - Living Black Castor Oil Protein Conditioner. Moroccan Method has some natural products - haven't tried them. Calia has a natural get that I haven't tried. www.theinnatelife.co/collections; yarokhair.com; Sunfood; I just ordered two prodcts from Kadima. Sunfood.com; Curl Luxe has a cleansing tea. I have a Tumblr where I talk about natural hair and completely natural products: www.tumblr.com/blog/towardthesun. Hope this helps!
mswtaz94 the same thing here! I remember thinking as s child my hair was never dry like this!!! That’s bc my mom used grease on my hair, it sealed the moisture in my high porosity hair. I’ve been using it now for a few months and my hair is soft again
Blessings I’m new to your channel I have thin soft fine hair. When I shampoo my hair it dries quickly. If I don’t add an oil before my dries. All I have to do is wet and oil it curls up. I have curly hair this is the best way that I can explain my hair type. Also can you give me a hair regimen for my hair type?
Yes, I have heard about it but this canceling of products also occurred last year and about two years ago. It is best to do your own research and make the best decision for you. 😉
I ran to come and see the bounce in your hair and I was not disappointed. 😍 You have such healthy hair. And I enjoyed the fun way you made this video. 👍👍 I'll like more of such videos. 😉
Great video, I do most of these. I was wondering though, I've got super soft kinky hair naturally. My hair can be dry, but not hard. Even when i never took care of it. Soft. It's not a problem but I've been searching for youtubers with the same situation just to see if they do anything different or point it out but there's nothing. I'm just extra careful in handling my hair and avoiding hair products that have made my hair too soft (I. E hibiscus in my DC)
I have had hard water all my life; I have no issues with it at all. My hair is soft and well-moisturized, but I wash, oil rinse, and double condition. And after that I use the LOC / LCO method for styling.
Marleen G. I just googled how to check for hard water. And that little at home test told me I actually have soft water. I big chopped in February and I am still trying to figure out what works with my hair. I’m still searching.

Can you please tell me why my hair feels dry and tangled soon as I put products in it. Soon as I put conditioner in my hair it feels wiry and hard. Why please ?
It could be something in the ingredients. There are some products that so that to my hair too. For example, if a product has too much silicone or protein.. I have Low porosity hair and too much protein in moisturizer or conditioner causes that. Here is one way to find your porosity ruclips.net/video/pgK79s8fD54/видео.html

Looking fabulous. Love deep conditioning its life for my hair. Water is natural hairs best friend. 😀
Yess and yesssss to deep conditioning
Sola your are amazing and so are your beautiful daughters! God bless y’all!!!
Thank you so much
For years I wondered why my hair would be dry and crunchy feeling. Then I started watching your videos and realized I needed to hydrate my hair more often and I started deep conditioning on my wash day. Now it remains soft with less breakage. And yes like you I prefer to eat my eggs not apply them to my hair lol😀🥚🍳
I am so glad that our videos have been helping you
DiscoveringNatural yes they have helped me a lot ☺
Thank you so much I have just done what said about deep conditioning, loving my hair God bless you
I am glad this helped you
I know for me the solution was using products that work consistently. Like my hair would not retain moisture if I kept changing products every wash day. I have 4c high porosity and thick creams and butters work best for me. Lighter thin products are only good as refreshers.
That is a wonderful suggestion
You are so energetic and informative about natural hair, please keep the great tips coming. Natural hair is definitely not a fad.👏🏾👏🏾 👍🏾
Thank you so much 😉
Hiya, please do a video on how you help your children thrive. That excitement about your daughter’s award is very inspiring and encouraging.

Aww Thank you so much
Love this! Your personality is awesome! You can see that you are on cloud nine after your baby's awards ceremony! 😊
Thank you
Thank you. I hope that women of color in different parts of the world listen to you. I get so mad at how my sistas treat their hair like it's a Brillo Pad. Then they pile on the grease or oil and press the life out of it. Knowledge is key
Thank you so much. Feel free to share our videos to others
Try it! Uk 🇬🇧
Thanks for sharing!!

It sounds like your low-po too, do you deep condition with heat? Using warm water when applying your leave in can help to.
yes i deep condition with thermal heat cap,but i spray room temp water on my hair lightly.thank you so much i will switch to warm water and warm oil
Yes, silicones causes issues for some people 👉🏽 bit.ly/DN_Is_Silicone_Good_For_Natural_Hair

Lol...DN. I rather eat my eggs too. You are 100% right on deep conditioning. I want from every two weeks DC to every single week :) My hair is softer, stronger and retaining length..No! healthy length. Another informative video.
Yes.. for the love of Eggs 😂
I was thinking if I should deep condition every week?
Congratulations Eniola! Good info

Thanks for sharing what you do
I like you.

What is a good leave in conditioner for high porosity 4c hair?

My hair isn’t naturally curly and it doesn’t shrink. Can you suggest any products I can use to curl it. I love how your hair has that natural curl.
I’m frustrated. lol
You might want to add more moisturizer in the area that gets dry quickly
Thank you! I will try that. :)
Remember that hair is always growing. Watch these videos on length retention and split ends

Can I use regular white vinegar to remove buildup as long as I mix it with water ??
Some people do but I have never done so. You could also use a clarifying shampoo
Thank you so much for subscribing. You are definitely right and doing the right thing for your hair and I am glad you are seeing the results

Thank you so much. I just picked up Aussie moist, kinky curly leave in, and tgin butter cream. You just gave me hope that I'm on the right path.
Thanks for sharing
ejnvids Hi, can you recommend a few products? I have high porosity hair and am noticing that my hair feels like straw.
Do you deep condition? If not, try doing it each time you wash your hair. Moisturize your hair when needed
Grease has been the secret the whole time. Those creams don't moisturize alone you need a superior sealant and grease is king.

Literally just washed my hair and it feels rough and dry. ☹️ I hope I find my answers here.
listra13 that means you have hard water, you should get a new shower filter
itsjusmimi Really? 😯 I have to look into that. Thanks.
I’m still searching.
listra13, give it some time, you'll get the hang of it for sure. Keep watching channels like this one. There's plenty of time to learn to do your "new" hair. I also like Linda Lynn here on YT. Check her out some time.

Can you section of that part and moisturize more? Also when you deep condition, put more deep conditioner in that section
okay thanks so much!
