I’m in high school and I’m so proud that this is my second year not procrastinating a single assignment! After having to do 2 months worth of assignments in a single night the years before, I decided to get in the habit of completing all my assignments in the morning and now I have the rest of the day to be free. I have semester exams tomorrow and after that, I have a 3 week winter break! Feels so good to not be stressing rn! 😄
3 years later and I still come back to your videos when I have an essay crisis 😂 3 more essays in 7 days ( my whole degree is an essay crisis with the deadlines they give us) before I finish my degree. Now to get an essay done that’s due tomorrow. Thank you for the inspiration.
deadass i thought she was starting from scratch having done no reading, no prior notes or plan... but im super impressed at her method of planning beforehand because technically she could leave the essay till last minute considering she’d already outlined her main ideas

Can I just say, this is the most motivating video on here: I’m trying to get out of a depression funk and write my essays. Was so fed up of seeing “Productive uni day” ... gets up at 5am, meditates, reads 20 books, cooks a fresh meal for the local homeless, writes 4 essays, hobby bakes study snacks, bullet journals, goes for a run and settles in bed w Netflix at 8pm. THANK YOU FOR BEING REAL❤️

Every Oxford student, past and present, can probably identify with this. You spirited me back to days of getting up at 4am to write Philosophy essays for an 9am tutorial
The most useful thing I’ve learnt at uni so far is when and when not to sleep. When an assignment is close to being due in, I usually just stay awake for like 36 hours and get completely absorbed into my assignment even if I have done a lot of prep just because I feel more pressure so I take advantage of my motivation drink like 8 cans of red bull while also fasting during this period. So by consuming caffeine, having the motivation to complete the assignment and the hyper focus you get from fasting there’s no way I’m not completing this assignment. once I get in bed there’s no way I’m getting out without watching hours of RUclips to guilt trip myself into at least brush my teeth. Before I go to bed tho, I will probably eat a giant meal- beef, chicken and sweet chili sauce and all my favorite snacks as like a reward, then the energy from the red bull instantly wears off because of the amount of energy needed to digest all the food. Goodnight for like 17 hours. lol.
What actually is the point in making students write an essay per week, especially while they have to work on a dissertation??? it literally doesn't help anyone in any way

This video made me go back in time to my first year of my master's degree. I was with a 5 year old boy and a year and a half girl, with a running business (small business, but still) and a husband who served in the army and was not home (not enough, anyway). Every week we had 7-10 articles to read, some of them were so long and had to sum the articles in one page (which was really difficult, to sum a chapter of 40-50 pages into one!). I thought I was losing my mind. And I was just starting to write my thesis back then. I thought I was going crazy, felt so overwhelmed and stressed. University can be very stressful. I feel you. Been said, I'm so proud to see how you tackled this assignment like a pro! It is so impressive!

GlamGoddes101 it varied. I did do reading throughout the week before writing and I’d become pretty used to how to write an essay by then. The tutorials and essays are designed to develop your ability to think, craft an argument, and defend that argument.

Even the title of the essay makes me cry let alone doing it in 4 hours
I'm actually jealous of how motivated you are, took me four hours just to think of my dissertation title
Every Oxford student, past and present, can probably identify with this. You spirited me back to days of getting up at 4am to write Philosophy essays for an 9am tutorial
Not just Oxford students, every uni student ever!
y'all... i need approx. 4 days to review 💀💀💀 y'all are so powerful
Goodnight for like 17 hours. lol.

TRUEEEEE

Me with my 7 page research essay
This is the true Oxford experience. One term I had two essays due a week and was writing each one in like 2 hours. They were a mess.
Did you find that you were able to get good marks while only spending 2hrs on each one?
GlamGoddes101 it varied. I did do reading throughout the week before writing and I’d become pretty used to how to write an essay by then. The way Oxford gives feedback on exams is different than many universities, as the grades you get on essays don’t usually count toward your final grade (which is determined by exams). The tutorials and essays are designed to develop your ability to think, craft an argument, and defend that argument.
But were these two essays a week marked?
15,000 words, 9 hours. Graduated with a First. Don’t ask me how I did or I’m a pro and did my research beforehand cause I didn’t, I died that day and still am. Edit: I wrote this at 4:35am and as expected I am in another crisis from degree to master.. thought I grew up but nope, procrastination is my personality. Okay thanks bye.
I’ve noticed that my procrastination has actually gotten worse now that I’m going for my Masters degree... but I write the best papers an hour before they’re due! Something about the time crunch keeps me focused and I blaze through it. If I write a paper weeks before it’s due, I always second guess it or don’t do as well
Ohhh I've Experienced That Too, It's Probably Some People Have Alot Of Ideas When They Are In A Rush!!
OMG literally same! But I'm planning to change that, my mental health is just not up for this kind of shit anymore. :')
naw i know its tempting to do that (just finished my masters here hehe) but try to transition to perhaps putting an earlier self deadline before the real one? summer/dissertation term is really all about time management and honestly i have to admit that saved me from a lot of unnecessary panic that otherwise would’ve been time consuming during a period thats so self-reliant huhu (just my two cents)
