Welcome to my neighborhood. I think there are a lot of van-lifers in the Palo Alto area. The area you picked out was actually Mountain View, CA. We hate the ebikers on the levee trails along the bay because you guys don't mind your speed and your kick up dust in the faces of runners and hikers. Don't be an AH please. Stopping at the dustbowl think you mentioned that was full of water and going back is about 3 miles since you did not go to the end. I am out there all the time. It's a great place to get exercise on non-concrete or asphault paths and some fresh air. By the way, the path that you were on is called the Steven's Creek Trail, and you can go South on it to the Dumbarton Bridge, and if you go North through Mountain View and up alongside Moffat Field Airbase you can bike for about 20 miles, 10 up and 10 down and go North as far as Cupertino CA. It is a great place to hike.
I saw your alviso video and I built the brown house you stayed in front of on speckles I plumbed it and alviso is nice and cool and I enjoy hiking in Almaden at quicksilver park enjoy
Isn’t it true that the RVs you see online are broke down and are owned by homeless people (not van lifers)? Those rigs have been a problem for the community for a long time. The city chooses not to tow them because of the bad look. You call it a good spot to stay but it’s not really.
You got it. I live in San Jose and used to live in Palo Alto. The homeless infestation is particularly acute in East San Jose where I live. Those who live in the RVs seem to be very happy that many of the RVs can’t drive or be moved hence they stay put!!! Lots a free handouts too. The homeless are pests! Luckily I live in the hills above the valley so we are not bothered by these vermin. It’s hard to have empathy when they take over and ruin our streets yet pay no property taxes and make life miserable for nearby homeowners.
@@SVmathfarmer I used to live in Palo Alto/Menlo Park before moving to Texas (was done with California). Drove by those rigs every day. No reason to allow broken down RVs to remain on the streets, they're a blight on the community. Only explanation is lack of leadership among local politicians.
I love my Lectric ebike! I can take it anywhere and charge it off solar. I've had it less than a year and put 100 miles on it. It lets me go further than I would normally be comfortable with on foot or a regular bike. It's a game changer! I had electric scooters and this is the best!
I’ve been staying in San Jose and I saw a 72 hour notice on a mini van that is parked in a city lot. That blew my mind. I always park overnight on the streets but there is a danger of being sideswiped. So it’s been nice being able to park off street.
I'm still at Mission Bay, but now, seeing your vid, I wanna go home. Your videography so nice ! So nice to get on a 2 lane dirt levee that goes deep into the Bay and exercise by running or biking at top speed for an hour, never a worry about traffic, or stopping for traffic lights - great workout. For great views of the Bay, biking on overlooking hills (good videography) Coyote Hills Regional Park, Dairy Glen Campground, at the Eastern base of the Dumbarton Bridge (which you can also bike across)
If you are going to go at top speed out at the Baylands please be thoughtful to the other bikers, runners and hikers and don't kick up a lot of dust in their faces - we go out there for fresh air too.
Thanks Brad for sharing “a day in the life” at Palo Alto, Ca. Some naysayers here but they’re just talking heads behind a keyboard. Some chastise you for being something you’re not but at the same time type 4 paragraphs about what all they’ve “done” and actually being what they accused you of. 🙄 anyway, thanks for doing and being you.
Congratulations on this video! I've been watching you from Hungary for quite some time now. Your videos are getting better and better, I'm glad that you record them from such a scripted, multi-camera point of view. It is also very good that you show nature. It's good that you show what you do one day. The search for a place is also a good topic, which would be nice to see several times as you set off to another place, you know, you are hiking, or you are working, making dinner, etc. So overall, your videos are getting better and better and I really like them, keep it up!
I’ve ridden my regular pedal bicycle nearly 20,000 miles including going up dozens of mountain passes and I never needed an electric motor or any kind of mechanical assistance other than paddling. So I’m wondering why some guy does a 5 mile bicycle trip on a pretty flat trail, why he needs a motor? Most people I meet who are riding an electric bicycle tell me “oh I just use the motor for hills.“ But they will tell me that while they’re riding around the city that is entirely flat with no hills and they are buzzing along at 28 mphin bicycle zones where the speed limit is 10 mph, go figure I think maybe some people would much rather have a motorcycle, but they just don’t want to go to the hassle and expensive getting a motorcycle and getting a motorcycle license.
Yeah I never would’ve dreamed of getting an electric bicycle until my knee went out. But I’m a lot older than him. I rode a one speed all my life! Definitely preferred a lightweight non-electric.
I worked in Alviso astride the harbor and a private plane would be my commute transportation from Santa Monica Airport where I lived in Los Angeles. Someday I would like to consult with Nomad Brad to replicate his conversion vehicle to enjoy similar experiences.
It was great to see you showing your google earth method. You seem a bit more laid back than some others as you search for a spot to camp. Thanks for sharing your day.
Previously having lived in the Bay Area called Alameda including Santa Clara not too far from your vid’s location never knew about this hidden gem. Thanks for Sharing and on my next road to the Bay I need to loop thru😎👍👍⬆️Stay SAFE💪
Great video Brad, quick question on box trucks incase u get stranded like a flat or something. Box trucks. Don't have a spare or a jack. How do you manage in an emergency? Especially in middle of nowhere etc.... thank you Brad

Hey, I like the taste of coffee in the morning ritual love it but if you get your camper well design and find good parking spots you end up getting a really good full night of sleep so coffee is optional. I’ve never understood that thing of people thinking that they need to drink coffee every single morning before they can be active. Sadly, a lot of those same people after their morning coffee probably drink five or six Red Bulls throughout the day or some other energy drink. If they are so whacking energy, maybe they should just get a better night of sleep?
Yes, I thought that was kind of goofy for an opening. It makes it hard to take the rest of the video seriously. By taking the wake-up sequence, he destroys this being a true documentary, it is more of a reenactment or a dramatization of life itself. That’s one of the problems with so many RUclipsrs is that they are just staging real life as though their video series is some kind of reality show or that they think they will get noticed by some big production company that wants to put them on a national network with their show. Yes that’s called flattering yourself. I worked on lots of documentaries about music, art, food, nine years in a row on a documentary film crew at burning man, documentary about a guy who swam the length of the Hudson River, documentary about homeless war vets in America , music documentaries in Jamaica, and even a documentary about chocolate, which involved five weeks in the Philippines. During a career that’s spanned over three decades so far, I must say one of the most miserable things I ever did was working in the props department for three weeks on “the bachelor“. Pretty much fake TV entertainment posing as reality/authentic documentary. And I think of that awful show when I see anyone who starts out there travel videos by staging their wake up. If this guy knows tech stuff you would think he would at least realize it’s a simple thing to set up a motion detector or audio detector that when his alarm starts going off, it triggers his camera on a tripod to start shooting video. It’s not really rocket science. But that I’d like to design his van and The out there for an adventure. GPS is great for mapping. I guess a drone and to find a parking spot? Kind of takes a lot of the adventure and spontaneity out of it. I just did a six week car camping trip all over Northern California. and I did all of it without needing to use a drone or Google Earth or all kinds of social media networking to find parking spots. I never got “the knock“ in the middle of the night, which was nice to get good nights of restful sleep and no stress.
I’m surprised they let the RVs park there. I wonder if some of them are Google employees who can’t afford an apartment. I have family in the area and rents are totally ridiculous, especially since Google and Facebook are there.
If you go about 20 mins north up the Peninsula, can stop at Foster City and bike the Bay Trail. It’s beautiful and can see SF in the distance

Yes those are meth labs, used for prostitution, and are full of stolen property
yeah, i move along after a couple days. I dont really agree with people just parking for weeks at a time without moving
