Not a fan of the property, but I lived in the apartment complex next to this building and definitely agree that it's a great area. So much convenience.
That is a creepy basement. Someone would have to pay *me* to lug my laundry up and down and around while listening for footsteps and creaking doors opening.
This probably doesn't even rank in my top 50 creepiest Pittsburgh basements. Maybe not even top 100. There are a lot of old homes here. 😃 But usually it's not a common basement. The good news is that you cannot even enter the building without a building key, so it's just your (few) other neighbors around.
It’s a pretty building. The first room should be the living room. The black and white kitchen is stark and would get old fast. And I know there isn’t room but I hate a pedestal sink.
Interesting architecture but not crazy about the long bowling alley hallway. However, the former dining room is absolutely gorgeous & should be the living room. (And the family room could & should be a cozy combination dining room & library. There's no view & little light, so why make it the primary hang-out space?)
Nice building and condo. Negative: Kitchen is weird and no washer and dryer in unit. Too much like an apt and not a condo. Strange that you don't walk into the living area, it's the bedrooms first. No sitting area at front or back.
If I was so inclined to buy this property it would have to be completely gutted and remodeled with a whole new layout. As is, it's a horrible use of space.
The building is beautiful, but the inside is a disappointment. That first room should not be a bedroom but rather the reception room. The kitchen needs an upgrade, but the dealbreakers are the $500 a month and the creepy basement.
@@tarasa-hurley$500 a month is a steal, considering location and utilities and a lot of amenities…and a decorative fireplace that you could put some beautiful battery operated remote type pillar candles in. The windows, lighting, view, laundry, garage. Location! It’s a wonderful property.
Nice and big but really weird floor plan! The floors are beautiful but the kitchen needs renovation! The window air conditioner is old old old! Should have up dated mini splits! Large HOA fee for Pittsburgh! really?
This is on the low end of HOA fees in Shadyside. Many Shadyside condos or co-ops have HOA fees in the $700+ range (some are over 1000!). You don't really see low fees unless you're in the suburbs, but those fees typically do not include the utilities.
@@elliebellie7816 It's quite common in older / eastern parts of the US to not require a closet since built-in closets did not become common until the 1910s or 1920s (this was built in 1925). As I understand having built-in closets is more of a local municipal code requirement than an actual state requirement. This property is now sold, and I know the buyer has some remodeling plans!
Older buildings often do not have closets. Also, a closet is not a legal requirement to be considered a bedroom in Pennsylvania. The sellers used that room as their master bedroom with a wardrobe.
@@Sylviasdaughter-po8we yep it’s definitely that was in some places. We have to have two egress points (door and a window usually), 70+ sq ft, and ceilings must be 7+ ft
I love old buildings. So much more character than new ones.
It has so much charm that I wouldn't mind the flaws. Beautiful.
I do wish more people would repair/restore and save vintage fixtures if possible. I like vintage kitchen and bath fixtures and appliances.
@@carolbaker579 and it’s only about 100 steps to the grocery store which I think is super convenient.
The first room is the living room with sun room, not a bedroom.

Hi, Teresa, lovely home
Thank you! 🤗
The condo has character. The newest homes seem to be bland by comparison.
@@MisterMikeTexas I agree I like the character too.
It’s beautiful. I’m a little disappointed the primary bedroom doesn’t appear to have closet or en-suite.
I would put a washer and dryer in my apartment. 1 bathroom no closet space outdated kitchen love the floors though

No kidding. Talk about being pretty on the outside but ugly on the inside.

I agree! I'm not feeling the layout at all!

$500 a month is not too bad when you factor in it comes with a garage and almost all utilities included.

Main "bedroom" has no closet.
You are correct. It most likely needs a wardrobe.
In my state it can't be called a bedroom unless it has a closet and a window.

weird kitchen and creep show basement bring attention to everything else that's wrong. there's no justifying the steep asking price.
80k at best
In Shadyside? Maybe in the year 2000. It's 24 years later, though where the typical price for a condo here is $240K to $315K.
You have to pay n mortgage payment plus $500 HOA fee each month plus go to basement to wash clothes
Wish they didn’t paint all the beautiful wood in these old places
This condo is just too angular …..the long hallway is exhausting! A total mess!
