      Yea, his torreando style gets ever better with gi grips. And half-guard passing can become even higher pressure using the lapel to reinforce the nearside crossface.
      The scary thing:
      1) that is just two passing pathways that translate from the gi.
      2) lately his nogi mount has looked really good and it looks like Roger has been coming over to train with him. He may become as great in the gi as no gi given a year or two time.

    Starting jiu jitsu is the best decision I ever made for sure, after 12 months I do basically everything also Gordon does here, I rolled hard rounds in Colorado then now Florida but I use my head like that, control the leg, I naturally pass similarly to that now, and now that I do no Gi, it’s made me even better in the gi because I’m used to it and people have noticed my gi grips being “better than white belt” but it’s normal because I guess that’s what happens when you roll with higher belts than you and you watch videos and eventually you just realize things to do when you defend like a knee shield or half gaurd

    imagine gordon competes at the next gi worlds, subs everyone, takes double gold, and then never puts the gi on again.

    I know its not about the belt or stripes. But how does he not have more stripes? Or if he does what is his degree?

      well obviously his partner looks like he weights barely 80kgs. SO against the massive Gordon , ye he'd sweat.

      @@harrbor I don't think people are recognizing the weight difference here. If anything, huge props to the guy that's giving up 50+ lbs to a 220lbs, 6% body fat, PED injected, greatest nogi player in history and not getting completely tooled.

      @@Danlovestrivium lol u actually think Gordon walks around at 220lbs? That is just his competition weight when he has an 8 pack and shredded to da 9s. He has been 270lbs at times.

    • @Danlovestrivium
      @Danlovestrivium Год назад +2

      @@REXAZOR I thought we were talking about this video. If we are, there's no way on earth he's anywhere close to 270lbs and I wouldn't be surprised if he's lower than 230lbs. But even still, by point wasn't about what his heaviest weight was, it was giving props to a guy that's probably giving up over 50lbs of weight and still looking like he knows what's going on. I'm not sure if you train or not, this isn't an insult to you. But anyone that's ever rolled with an extremely muscular athlete that weighs over 50lbs more than them understand how almost physically impossible that task is, much less someone anywhere even close to the skill level of GR. Most would have been insta-mounted and sat on until the bigger guy got board and let him up.

    Hate me if you'd like, but I kind of feel like even though Jui Jitsu is the pinnacle of grappling, Gi Jui Jitsu is effectively the "training wheels" of Jui Jitsu grappling. Am I wrong?
