In This Scenario The TTC Had to make the call to Take H6 Subway Cars From The Bloor Line & use them on the Yonge University Spadina SUBWAY LINE, Transit Enthusiasts know that this is a very RARE occurrence
TRAIN TYPE: H6
Hawker Siddeley Canada was the Canadian unit of the Hawker Siddeley Group of the United Kingdom and manufactured railcars, subway cars, streetcars, aircraft engines and ships from the 1960s to 1980s.
Seeing this now in 2024, you can really feel how much TTC and Toronto itself has changed.
I used to love these trains!! Back in 01', these were the tingz!!!! My little sister and I used to call them the "Orange Train" and get so excited when they pulled up. They were already becoming rare at that point so it was fun when we got to ride in them. I really only liked them because they were Orange (hence the nickname), and because they had rounder/more oval-shaped windows. Weird, but I just liked them a lot.
soo true! that's exactly why i loved them too (but mostly because of the wonderful noise they make =D). and no they were not becoming rare in 2001, they were only retired in 2013-4 (all retired june 20, 2014), back in 2001 there were 2 more models in service, H5 (yellow doors, red floor; retired june 14 2013) and H4 (bench seats, ceiling fans; retired january 27 2012)
308813062 Really? Maybe, just being young, I didn't notice. For some reason, these trains were a rarity for me whenever I took the subway.
temi lovie yeah sometimes they were difficult to catch, but if you rode the subway a lot there were probably fairly many of them. now there's only 2 types, T1 (red doors) and the new rockets
308813062 Maybe I didn't ride it enough. I only went on the subways 2 times a day on weekdays day (to/from school), 2 times on Sundays (to/from church), and sometimes maybe three times on Saturdays (going to the mall).
temi lovie I Thought the same thing too actually, the H6 were infact a little harder to come by at times. I remember back then in 2001, the T1's were the newest trains for the TTC over powering the other models because of their easier accessibility with wider doors.
Sometimes 3 T1's would pass you by before an H6 train showed up.
Damn, these were so much cozier than the T1s and TRs.
The T1s have a much colder interior color scheme (grey as opposed to brown and creme, dark red instead of bright orange) plus smaller windows and thus less natural light when travelling outside.
The TRs are FAR too bright (the light is an incredibly harsh cold white too), and the open gangways make the passenger feel far more exposed. Plus, they have even less colour in them than the T1s.
I know the point of subway cars isn't to make their passengers feel cozy and comfortable, but still.
Honestly even if it is a stereotypical thing to say i really wish I was born another time so I could just sit and ride the H series cars all day long. Like I wouldn't care if I could wish for immortality I would wish to just to just ride those cozy car's all damm day.
RIP H6 Train

Hi
Zero
These trains with their orange doors is how orange became one of my favourite colours
wow i wish we'd also see H5's go on the Bloor line once
more!
Those Subways were so cool and comfortable to ride but too bad They retired
I have been on the H6 on the YUS back in the 90's
These H6 trains are gradually retiring from the service still operating on the Line 2 Bloor-Danforth line because I hardly see them operating that it has been a while that I have not been riding on these trains anymore everytime I have to travel on the Line 2 Bloor-Danforth; consequently, the T1 trains have been operating more often than the H6 trains. I can tell that these trains will suddenly retire from the service sometime this year once and for all. I will miss these trains if they retire from the service completely.
There used to be 6 h6 on the b-d line during the rush hour. Now there is 4 during the morning and after noon rush hour. There's 1 h6 during the noon commute which is hard to find
Yes! Because I can tell that when time passes by, all the H6 trains will be gone forever and that is very sad. In the future, I think only the T1 trains will be operating on line 2:Bloor-Danforth and also on Line 4: Sheppard Line, and on Line 1_Yonge University Line, only the newest trains will be operating.
The H6 subway trains is the reason why I kind of favour the colour orange because that was the colour of the inside of the doors of those trains my 3 favourite H train models are H1 H4 & H6 I also liked the H5’s but for some reason not as much but they were still pretty good trains although there was this one H5 car that I really liked number 5796 only because they converted it to look like a T1 car and I noticed that even though that all the H trains are now retired but the number 5796 was reused on a Rocket train
1:04 Next Station is Lawrence West Lawrence West Station
I was once on an H-5 train on line 2 usually they used to run on line 1
Weird At The End The H6 Didn't Make The Opening Door Chime
@TorontoTransitDude
Also it’s weird the announcer didn’t say Arriving at Lawrence West, Lawrence West station
I miss these trains
Same here i grew up with these trains now all I have left are the T1's!
@@TorontoTransit3722 well there are the rocket trains but if you are talking specifically about line 2 then yes
H6 TTC subway car "5858" from Glencairn to Lawrence West Station
What happened at wilson? That's why they had to turn at lawrence I assume?

tragic" collision after being struck by a subway maintenance train

UrbanDigest Oh right I remember that now, I used to work in that neighborhood. No way to go.
you mean Lawrence west
sc0tte416 Lawrence Station is on the other side of line 1 (right hand)
I once got on an H5 on Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth)
1:46 "5858"
Interesting.... Doors instantly open once the train comes to a complete stop on the Bloor-Danforth line on all trains, but not on this line! H6 doors are funny this way.
I once got on an H5 train on line 2
I like the orange doors
Why does this subway need to go from Glencairn to Lawrence West only?
I get it... personal injury that’s why no subway service due to investigation
@SN - 09BJ 708538 Glenforest SS The reason was because a TTC worker was struck and killed by a subway at Wilson
They could just use the trains at davisville yard
I miss those h6's
Recorded on my birthday! :D
I miss the H6s
H6 door color has the same color as Cheetos
this sucks, nigeria rejected these cars and now they are scrapped permanently, they could have maybe kept a few cars?
love da chime!!
The next station is lawrence west
Really? Yea its happened a few times before. When did you find yourself into that situation?
Mean the Orange line Train
What did the rollsign say?
Lawrence West, I think?
I'm in 2019
What about the davisville yard
Similar to Ankara Metro
Why do they retire older trains
+Tybone Gaming really?
Cause David Miller "the mayor back in 2010" was a Fucking Crook to order additional TR trains to replace the H6 which still had some life on it.
@@detroitdieselseries5071 These trains were built in 1984. They could have been retired by at least 2026-2028
