    Aziz: Buys modern G87 M2, one of the best new cars for its money....
    Azis sees an 15+ year old, V10 BMW, most likely gonna cost him his left liver but he will bond a forever lasting friendship with his mechanic -> Aziz: "Why I Sold My BMW M2 G87"
    I feel you Aziz, I used to be into modern cars from young age, saved money for an Mini F56 JCW, but then the first time I drove an older N/A car, I never wanted anything else. Got myself an appealing Z3 Coupe. Costs nothing to run and looks awesome and will most likely never sell it due to its low running costs and unique driving experience. It's controllable at its limit, pure driving pleasure as BMW describe it and if you're not an idiotic hooligan you'll most likely never crash it.
    BTW: Keep up your content and keep us entertained! Discovered your insta/ YT a year ago!

    • @azizdrives
      @azizdrives  10 месяцев назад +13

      Absolutely love your comment. The Z3 Coupe is one of the greatest cars to ever be built. Its enough if you got the inline six with 193 hps or even the updated 3l with 231hp, a wonderful car for somebody with taste, i see you get my point. At some point it's just too much its not what i want and thats why it had to go.

      @@azizdrives Thanks for the answer! If you're in Munich late summer. I'll would love to have the honor to lend it for a review.
      It's an early "non TU/Doppelvanos M52B28" model with 192bhp, very analogue engine. It's currently getting restored and freshened up (suspension, engine, etc.).
      BTW, an other british reviewer (I think Harry Metcalfe) once said, that modern cars are so stupid fast that you can't enjoy them anymore, similar as you stated. No matter what you do, you can't enjoy the full potential of the engine as it will kill you as soon as it can.

    I respect your opinion and decision, but I have the exact opposite experience with this car after daily driving a manual for 7 months. This beast can handle so much on the corners, that I’m simply blown away. Used to have an S2000, and that thing was fun as hell, but scary at the limit, and it was always too late once you got there. F87s are just a dancing tails, which is quite scary. I would not compare it to Porsche, because they are on a different level all together, but I guarantee you that G87 can pretty much keep up with them, or almost anything out there quite easily.

    Thank you Aziz. I recently drove a M2C and while I love the car I feel it is too capable for public roads and the steering feel is numb and there is no confidence. It made me realize I am going to be stuck driving cars from 05-13 for the rest of my life.

  • @Tibialstone7

    Question: if you turn all the sporty stuff off and just leave it in comfort, MDM off, DSC on, etc, is it still trying to kill you?
    I am conflicted because many say this car is fine to daily drive, and when you want to unleash the beast, you can turn sport on and have the fun.
    What do you think?

  • @BruBrusmayhem
    @BruBrusmayhem 9 месяцев назад

    I have a G87 with the manual and I feel what you are saying !
    But after a life driving WRXs and STis, this BMW is teaching me a lot about throttle control, steering inputs, where to give gas, where not to ! And I'm excited to say that I now have full control over what's happening with the rear, I never have to think about my throttle input or anything because I know where's the limit ! But that's different for everybody.
    This M2 is my stepping stone towards a 991.2 911 GT3. I drove a GT3 before trying and buying the M2 and I wasn't prepared for that level of grip and stiffness. I feel the GT3's limit is way higher than the M2 but won't be forgiving at all.. It will snap out of hands super quickly. I didn't feel that with the M2 so I went with it !
    But yeah. Driving styles and personal preferences don't have to be justified ! You either like it or not !
    Good content, keep it up !

    I totally Understand what you mean....I have had 2 e46M3s, and I pushed them to the limit, and I knew where that limit was. Now, I drive a 2023 M440i (non-X-drive), and I don't dare give it a gas on the corners because the rear end will start to scooch around. Especially when, for some nincompoop reason, BMW decided to fit my car with 225 tires all around and limit the top speed to 131....WHAT THE F...BMW!!

    After selling my E46 M3 over 10 years ago and owning many M140i’s and moth M2 OG and M2C in the meantime, I’ve now sold my M2C and gone back to another E46 manual M3 for special occasions. It’s not about the speed, it’s about how it makes you feel and none of the newer cars can ever really replicate the older cars, especially in the looks department.

    Respect and thank-you for your honest review. You are one of many people handing back or selling their M2's after a short period after purchase. And there is a worrying trend. I test drove the M2 and the 230i last week, my initial intention was to buy the 230i which is the hidden gem in the g42 line-up IMO. Whilst test driging the M2 the salesman said 'i can offer you a deal of around the same monthly price as a 230i for an M2 as you are a long time customer. My ears got bigger. The M2 was wild, visceral like holding 5 hyenas on a lead chasing antelope. It was so fast. Really fast. But having driven the 230i which was unbelievably fast and handled like a really controllable go cart. It had better luxury it was playfull yet so enjoyable to drive. I was left thinking why was the salesman almost giving away the G42 M2? Then i read some more owner comments about dead steering and excess weight. But what shocked me was one buyer said he simply didnt want to drive his m2. Sure it was fast but the connection between car and driver was missing due to steering numbness. Not so in the 230i. You can feel the steering assistance but its nicely weighted it feels chunky yet malleable to turn. My said you felt relaxed in the 230i. You looked happy. Could this driver disconnection be the downfall of the M2?My advice is onky by an M2 if you like to street race evertime you drive it.

    Great video and also discussing your personal experiences, however the car handles just fine in the corners. It’s a great rwd set up. Just have to learn the car more and you’ll be able to control it better. I have been tracking and auto crossing for 15 years. I do miss the more mechanical feel which is why I prefer the f87 lci og. It’s more raw and I feel more connected. Obviously mine is heavily modded but it’s the best blend of new tech and old feel. Don’t sell it before you go out with a professional driver and really learn the car before you sell it. Cheers 🍻

    I know exactly what you're talking about! I recently drove a G80 comp and it was fast but very non communicative. I couldn't feel anything through the wheel or suspension to know what the limits were. I was so excited to get back into my E92 M3 and F87 after driving it 😊
