    the absence of my father in my life taught me to walk away before ppl leave you. I hated him and loved him, asked myself why one would have such strong emotions for someone they dont know. Sometimes I thought he left because i was too ark. This year ive walked in his shoes, ive also wanted to pack my clothes and disappear. Now I understand how he felt and I forgive him. I forgive him. I choose not to run like him, I'll face everything and let God heal me. He is the greatest healer.

    That last part; struggling to relate to God as a father. I totally relate! And for some reason it only became apparent to me this year. Every time someone said that God loves me like a father loves his child i'd just be thinking "So He DOESN'T love me???". Then i'd end up correcting the statement in my head and say "I think for me He loves me like a mother".
    It's only just recently that i made peace with Him being a father. A good good father. And i'm loved by Him. And that is enough.

    • @Angelina-zs3dr
      @Angelina-zs3dr 5 лет назад +1

      Wow girl that is my story and the sad part is I didn't even grow up with my mother either so it's difficult to see God as a father or a mother. Maybe one day after seeing how my future husband treats and relates to our children I will then begin to see God as a father. Until then may God help me

      I really tried not to have a issue with the 1st part of this comment but...I'm pretty sure she doesn't put out her art for you to judge and criticize even if it's positive critic.she is not looking for validation and she does not need it so you don't have to try and validate her .she's trying to get to our hearts. Keep your brain aside.what poets want to know is whether you got the message they were trying to put across or not. And certainly not if their intonation and arrangement was done correctly!! 🤦 And sorry, I might have crucified you on behalf of all such comments.

    Very profound, I have forgiven and gotten in touch with my father out of circumstances but I cant do long talks with him...Call last for 30seconds on average, awkward moments WHEN HE TRIES SUGGESTGING WE SHOULD MEET. At times I want to tell him we address the elephant in the room like why did he disappear on us and refused to take care of us... I tried listening to his side of the story and he started blame games blaming my mothr and i told him we ain't taking that road...
    All I would say is that, can men man up and just be there for there children..keep saying i wish he just played a small role in his absent years, it would have definitely made it easier...Now am taking care of a stranger who most of the time i want to give my piece of mind but I can't. Then there are his brothers who are trying to play sweet now after many years of me not knowing they existed...Many are the times i want to say mean words but I hold myself not to be rude to the elderly but i still throw a spear...Don't pretend to care about me now that am grown,mscheew
    .

    Wow! Honestly, I've never heard a spoken word piece that connected with my life like this one. I never had a good relationship with my father since I was little. In fact, we rarely had conversations and when we did it was when he was scolding me. Of course as a boy I craved for his approval, got excited whenever I performed well in school but he just looked at the report form and said nothing. I was so bitter with a low self esteem for the most part of my teen years and early adulthood. And it seemed the man never cared! I got into too much drinking and hated myself. However, things started to change when I found Jesus in 2009. I learned to love and about forgiveness. I knew I had to find the courage to forgive him. It would take a few years before we could start communicating again.
    All the while, I was writing an unfinished spoken word piece. It was an angry poem but no matter how much I tried to complete it, I couldn't until I forgave him. Because God intended for me to preach on Forgiveness. I only performed the piece once but it was the most emotion piece I ever did. And the only one I ever saw members of the audience cry. So when I heard this piece you can imagine I was really moved. We've been trying to rebuild the relationship we never had. This is a beautiful piece. Thank you for sharing. At least I know I am not the only one who wrote an angry poem about a father.

    Soo encouraging.Growing up without fathers love its something i struggled with despite him being there.Finally i chose to turn to my heavenly father.I found love in Him..and i believe praying for my dad each day will change him and create a fathers bond that will last forever.

    Wow🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. Through forgiveness, i learnt to let go of the pain and anger i had towards the man that was missing in my life. 5-6years I only cried when I talk about my dad. Now am free of the pain, I learnt to focus on my Heavenly Father and be proud of the woman that raised me.
    Through Forgiveness I was set free.

    This is so beautiful... I met my father thrice in my life. Once younger, twice a teen, third dead.... And how that pointed me to the Heavenly One the perfect One!!! 😍😍😍😍

    God bless you Emily! Indeed we are Christ's own before we became our parent's. If only we can keep walking that known identity, his will would be made perfect in us!
