Great video dude! I really liked how you categorized each grains strengths and characteristics. Also really like that you showed how to brew a batch step by step. I haven't brewed in 2 years or so, but I am definitely getting back to it asap!!
This is an absolutely wonderful video. I was looking for a concise reference to all these gluten free ingredients and you did an amazing job! Thank you!
Thanks man, yeah I was thinking it would be a lot harder to do, I guess the tough part is just sourcing the ingredients if you want to get really creative!
I’ve never brewed my own beer. I’m going to give this a shot to see if I can save some money in the long run. Is there a better step by step video y’all can recommend for an absolute beginner? You did a fantastic job on this video I’m just struggling to get started and follow along.
We have decided to try brewing our own gf beer so thankful to find your video! My husband is gf and used to drink Guinness. Any ideas for a gf version?!
I'm definitely going to try this. My mother-in-law use to love beer before she found out she has a gluten intolerance. Hopefully making this will give me a few bonus points.
Super interesting, I only knew about sorghum before as a GF beer base so this was really informative! I'll have to put a full GF beer on the to try list at some point.
Definitely, I did a separate video on those enzymes, since at least here in the US that would be considered "gluten reduced" not gluten free. But I know the terms are different in other parts of the world.
Thanks for this - so to sub out the sorghum for malted millet, rather than using the syrup you'd just add in the actual millet grains and then filter out when you transfer to the keg?
I believe so, based on my normal beer brewing you would do a mash around 152F with the millet (in a brew bag) for 45-60 mins, then remove the millet and add hops and proceed with recipe as it is.
I brewed many years till I found out I had celiac. Then I took a break for a long time for obvious reasons and purchased new equipment to make GF beers. I never got used to the sorghum so I optioned for millet instead but you are right, it is way expensive. I made great brews years ago with millet, especially a great pumpkin brew for the holiday. I would love to see you figure out how we can trim down costs on millet and malt our own, I initially looked into it and it looked like big process. I would also love for you to make clone beers with millet and other GF grains. My favorite holiday brew was from Sierra Nevada called Celebration Ale, if you can figure out how to clone that it would be awesome!
You cant malt your own, the grains you can buy are processed so they wont malt, you can only buy the grains and eat the costs sadly. Already spent time looking into it.
This was very helpful, but also confusing because Gluten Free Home Brewing suggests multiple enzymes. Wish I had found this video before buying a bunch of stuff that is apparently extraneous.
Yeah I guess enzymes would be good for people that are only gluten sensitive but if you are completely gluten intolerant then you gotta go this way (or similar) glad you found it helpful though!
@@TheBruSho My partner has a tolerance issue (non-celiac). I don't understand the science bits of it, but I am glad I can attempt his Ground Breaker recipe rather than the one I found that seemed to require a PhD in chemistry. I have all of the ingredients for the Ground Breaker recipe, other than the lentils, which I can pick up at the co-op. Thanks again for your videos.
@@TheBruSho I use a enzyme you can buy online that brewers or distillers use called Sebamyl GL its basically alpha, beta amylase plus a couple other enzymes and is 100% capable of doing as good as regular grains.

Thank you braj! Excited for your post Euro vids!
I don't have a problem with gluten, but it's interesting to learn about all these different ingredients.
Excellent job on this video there are very few gluten free beer videos out there thankyou for the time you've put into it
Thank you! I noticed that while researching for this video so hopefully this can help a lot of people looking to get started

Nice!! Watched this video very intently - this sure seems easier than I thought! Can't wait to see your next one!

I never thought I’d brew a gf beer, but I feel like I could learn a few things from this recipe. Maybe I have some Sorghum in my future. Thanks Trent!
Yeah me neither and I might just have to add lentils to my next beer to give it a good protein kick!
Wow, what a great video!
Can't wait to give this a go! I had a feeling it was easy, thanks for clearing that up 🍻
Yeah not that hard once you understand the subs you need to make!
Nice!! My wife always asks about GF beer, I’ll have to give this recipe a shot. Thanks Trent, cheers 🍻!
Nice! I was inspired by my mother in law to finally make this and she was quite happy with it
@morse for sure, I did a video on that too! Magical stuff
Thanks for sharing this! What can I substitute for lentils? Legume allergy.
This is amazing! Can't wait to try it!!
Let me know what you think of the process!

Same here! Mother in law is GF so got me wanting to brew something for her, best of luck! And stay tuned I'll try more in the future

Give it a try for sure, an interesting spin on brewing beer and a good challenge!
What about adding enzymes that consumes the gluten? I think there's a brewery here in Sweden that specializes on that. Great video!
Definitely, I did a separate video on those enzymes, since at least here in the US that would be considered "gluten reduced" not gluten free. But I know the terms are different in other parts of the world.
@@TheBruSho Oh! Sorry I missed that one! Will check that out later. Cheers!
Could you substitute molasses for the sorghum?
Awesome vid! 🍺
Thank you!

Is the bottling procedure the same as other beer bottling?
Great video, Trent! Would it be a good idea to lean into that tartness a bit more and throw in some lactobacillus?
I could see that working really nicely. Worth an experimenting with for sure!
I dream of making a GF version of Köstritzer Schwarzbier
waht are thoes green things at the cascades?
Doing it!
Let me know how it goes!

Has anyone seen a gluten free porter?
Ngci and without oats?
I’m coeliac and can’t have oats either. Really miss a stout 😂
Haven’t brewed a GF stout/porter but I think you could just use a bit of maltodextrine which is gluten free to add body, in place of oats
Save me a pint
Will do!
Whenever I see millet, I can't help but think of it as a cheap bird feed filler!
Haha it definitely is bird seed, but supposedly makes a great beer, who knew!
