I own a Mazda 626 Sedan in Prestige Silver Metallic colour, 1990 model ... bought brand new in Melbourne, Australia as a gift from my father for my 18th birthday. He paid $ 32,000 Australian dollars for it back then! It's now 32 years old, has done 500,000 kilometres (310,000 miles) and l continue to drive it daily. Has never failed me. Unbelievable car. I cannot part with it. My first and so far, only car ...!! It still looks like new and has always been outside for its entire 32 years, so far. People cant believe it! We had a 1983 Mazda 626 saloon in metalic brown! This was the brand new shape that came out a few months after we got our model. Engine was a bit basic for a 2L (carbs not fuel injection) but it had a great manual gearbox. I have 3 classic cars, I don't drive modern cars from this century. The E30 320i SE saloon is my fav for nostalgia.

It is a great car to drive as well. And it seems pretty economic, too. Just came back from the gas station and I got 38 mpg(uk). Not bad for an old family saloon, I must say.
Holy crap. This was my first car. I had a 2.0 litre diesel. Started straight away every time. Tons and tons of room in the back. Not super fast but very reliable. Amazing to see one. I had a gold coloured one :) The day after I bought mine it wouldn't start and the head gasket needed to be changed. Naturally a warranty job. Enjoy your car!
@@Theshadowsnose The first morning after I got it, it wouldn't start at all. So I took it back and they put in a new head gasket. After that it was as solid as a rock!
Nice 626 GC, seems to be in pretty decent shape :) Always loved these for the electronic melody warning system but haven't owned one. I had two Mazda 323's though, a 1982 323 Hatchback in the 1990's and after that, a 1990 323 sedan. My parents also had a 1983 323 Hatchback in the 80's. Now I drive 2016 Kia Rio and my parents have 2014 VW Golf Mk7. Interesting channel all in all, retro gaming interests me too :) For example I have Commodore Amiga 500, Playstation 1,2 and 3, Mattel Intellivision, etc. I subscribed :)
Thanks for subscribing! This is my first Mazda and I still think it's a pretty good car. My family had Audi 80s since the mid '80s since we had terribly bad luck with ford before. I had a Mk7 or MK8 Golf as a company car for a while and I was pretty disappointed with it, to be honest. Never had a car where the engine felt that anemic than in that car. Probably because the gear ratio was chosen for most fuel economy which made the car pretty undrivable imho. I am used to drive in 4th gear on city roads. Did that since I got my driving license. And the Golf was the first car that struggled to accelerate in 4th gear when I floored the throttle after exiting the city. And I did drive a 60HP 1.5 ton mercedes Diesel for a while. Even that car had no problems accelerating from 50 km/h in 4th gear.
I bought 87 model with 2 liter engine, 4 electric windows and sunroof a few months ago. You gotta love the velour on the seats. Not as comfortable as they look though. Overall nice car.

Funny thing is that both previous owners are from Spain :-) I don't think that Germans bought those cars because of any economic crisis, but because they realized that they were pretty good and economic cars. My family bought a used Audi 80 at that time and while being a pretty good and reliable car, I don't remember it being much better than this Mazda.
Manual transmission is still very common over here in Europe. Manual cars tend to be cheaper and use less fuel and fuel is very expensive over here. From all the cars I had in my life, only 1 had an automatic transmission and that was modded to run on LPG, which wasn't taxes the same way petrol was. LPG was 40 cents per liter while petrol was 1,3€. I didn't mind to get only 18 mpg at that price. Now I hope I can get 30 mpg out of that Mazda when I drive calmly.

Ich mag alte Technik im Allgemeinen. Ich hab auch noch mehrere Röhrenradios hier rumstehen. Manche Dinge haben sich halt auch nicht wirklich verbessert. Der Mazda bringt mich genauso von A nach B wie jedes moderne Auto auch. In vergleichbarer Zeit, zu vergleichbaren Kosten. Die Röhrenradios hab ich mir damals gekauft, weil ich gerne AFN gehört hab und den gabs nur auf Mittelwelle. Da war jedes von meinen alten Radios jedem neuen Radio klanglich überlegen. Und ich hab das mit einem High-End Tuner von SONY verglichen, den ich von meinem Onkel geerbt hatte. Selbst der klang schlechter.

You can use some silicone lubricant for the windows. You might also want to check to see that they haven't slipped out of their tracks. It looks like it's in good condition for a car that old.
IN 1984 I was ready for a new car. Really wanted a Datsun Maxima, but could not locate a new one by October of that year. Had to settle for second best. Got a decked out 626 in silver with sunroof for $11,000 out the door. Drove it five years. Many many problems with wheel howl and cylinder head gasket failure. Put 110,000 miles on the car, sold it in 1989 for $4000! That was the best part! Not the greatest car, but sort of fun to drive.
They are rare, indeed. Haven't seen one for ages. But I don't think they will become expensive. Just a regular, quite boring car. Still nice to drive and very useful.
Oh I missed this video but better a late comment than never. This is a real "Eisenschwein" and unverwüstlich :-) I really like the Japanese cars from the 80s / 90s and later. As a trained car mechanic, I can say: It's pretty solid technology! You can't compare that to the crap that's been built these days
You probably missed out the experience how it feels to take a road trip and have the car breaking down, or just go shopping with your parents and have the car not starting when you came back after an hour or two. In my memories, the early '80s was the time where manufacturers actually managed to get cars working reliably.
@@Theshadowsnose That's how it was, for sure. My family had quite a bit of luck with those Mazdas. We even drove from Germany to Hungary on the holidays. Also, no rust with those models, not that I know of.
@@timrichter1980 I remember that when I was a small kid, we had a Ford Taunus/Cortina and it broke down all the time. We had family in Southern Germany, a 400km trip. And everytime we went to visit them it was a bit of an adventure. I remember once we drove there and after like 250 km, my dad stopped overtaking trucks and stayed on the right lane for the next 100km until we left the Autobahn. Then he stopped and told us, that the Engine is probably broken, but we would be fine because if the car would not go any further our family who had a car repair shop, could tow us there :-) The car made it through the mountains, but after my dad turned it off, it never started again. We got an use Audi 80 after that and the adventure was gone :-)

From my experience driving it for a couple of days I must say that it's a pretty good car for its era. I have driven an 1987, I think, Opel Ascona for a while and I don't remember it being better than this one.

I don't even want to imagine how much 1.21 gigawatts would cost me over here in Germany ;-) The 88mph on the other hand should not be a huge trouble on the German Autobahn. I always wondered why they made such a fuzz about getting to 140 km/h... that's NOT a fast speed. Even my old Nissan could easily get to that speed. I don't think I ever had a car that could not reach that speed... well I had one. The old Merc 220 Diesel that I had was listed with a top speed of 135, but that was a 1970 1.5 ton diesel with only 60 HP. Not something that looked as 'fast' as a DeLorean did.

Would love to drive one of those again, but they are incredibly rare nowadays. Even over here in Germany. Watched a trailer of that movie, but that didn't really show much of the movie at all. Just showing someone driving a yellow Mini. Looked a bit like "The Italian Job" :-) The only New Zealandian movie I remember watching is "Bad Taste". Watched it in the early '90s on a terrible VHS copy. Think the movie was banned in Germany back then

We never had a Mazda’s when I was young my mom had various other cars but the Mazda Melody Time is a bit cooler than the chime in Hyundai Nissan Subaru in Mitsubishi. My mom had a Hyundai and Mitsubishi and they had the dingdong bell door chime, but this one it plays a song if you leave your key in the ignition. Also, Hyundai and Mitsubishi were good cars until they died. I like Mazda two I like the Mazda minivan which is called Mazda MPV. It looks good. Looks like an SUV and a minivan combine together but it’s really cool. Also got 6 to 6 recently because MotorWeek said it was a good car And I believe it in their family size hatch comparison test they said Mazda 626 sedan was really good and that lots of people like it
My dad only got 4 cars in his entire life. 2 Fords at first and after that 2 Audis. The Ford were pretty unreliable. After we got the first Audi, we never really had a breakdown again. The 626 is still really reliable. I'm using it as a daily driver for 3 years now and it never let me down.
Hatte ich auch bis 2001. Verkauft mit 460.000km auf der Uhr. Bis auf Verschleißteile und eine Kopfdichtung problemlos. Von der Zuverlässigkeit her kam da kein anderer Wagen ran.
Ich bin auch langsam ein Fan von japanischen Autos. Die Japaner können definitiv zuverlässige Autos bauen. Ich möchte keinen FIAT BJ 84 sehen... wahrscheinlich ist das eh nur ein häufchen Rost ;-)
Nice car i used to see lots of these mazda,s , but on uk roads cars from the 80,s do not seem to have survived as much i have not seen one of these mazda,s in years in the uk.
It still works fine. I just don't use it right now, because we had a terrible snowstorm the other day and I don't have any winter tires. Luckily I only have to travel 4km one way right now which is a quite enjoyable hike through the nearby forest, so I actually don't miss driving too much and enjoy my morning sports... for the first time in my life :-)
I do not plan to drive it like in TDU :-) I drove it a bit more aggressive for the video. Usually I shift up much earlier and don't rev that high. I's more fuel economic and in real traffic not much slower either. This was a 'Sunday drive'. Usually there is much more traffic on the roads over here.

Why I bought this car? Well, after I got fired and don't have a company car anymore, I needed a car. It was there and the price was right. I could have bought a more modern car, of course. But I don't plan on driving too much until I got a new job and didn't want to drive a more modern car.

@@WickedGamerCollector This is the 2nd time in my life where I did that. 15 years ago I had a BMW Mini and I got an old Mercedes Diesel, just for fun. Well, I ended up not getting another new Mini, but I kept the Mercedes as a daily driver for the summer and I got a rather old Nissan Micra to drive in the winter. It was more fun than driving a new Mini... and it was more economical as well :-) I hope I can afford an old Mercedes again some day. They are really amazing cars.
I like 6 to 6 it is really cool really good car really reliable like Toyota I like five speed manual 626 which we got automatic as well because some of my family don’t know how to drive manual, so they drive automatic. I also like Toyota forerunner as well And don’t know if I should trade in 6 to 6. For forerunner but I don’t know the only thing I don’t like on new forerunners is that some of the buttons are not the buttons anymore is the touchscreen I don’t like that in new cars the radio is hidden in some menu thing and you have to find it and then you have to select your certain stations, but it has cruise control and it has radio select station on steering wheel but I don’t like the touchscreen system. I like these old style big manual levers that you move instead of the touchscreen.
I hate the electronics in modern cars! Maybe that comes partially from having driven a modern Volkswagen Golf, but my mate Thomaniac has a new Opel (Vauxhall) Astra and the entertainment/GPS system is even worse than in the Golf :-) Touchscreen operation is a big no go for me for anything that I want to operate while driving! with 'real' buttons I can feel the right button and operate it without taking my eyes off the road. No chance doing this with a touch screen. I think touchscrrens should not be allowed in cars because it's dangerous!
I live in the United States where they have lots of cars and lots of gadgets Most American domestic cars come with a touchscreen in it not just American cars import as well. Such as a Toyota in Mazda and Volkswagen. I hate touchscreen’s because I can get so lost in them versus buttons I know where it is. When you buy a brand new car in America, it comes with a touchscreen infotainment system. A lot of things are touchscreens and that is not Justin small cars like small sedan cars. They’re basically in everything now they’re in small cars are in compact cars, midsize cars, full-size cars, cars, SUVs minivans Trucks, electric vehicles, hybrid, vehicles, and even basic cars have them the only exception is for commercial trucks, which they still use the buttons some of them they do My family rented a moving van/cargo van to decorate a party last weekend in the cab of the car. There were no touch screens to be found at all. The only problem I had was setting the stations on the presets on the radio but everything was manual controls And I was like yes, manual controls I loved it My mom and my dad they own modern Chevrolets, which are good cars, but the only problem is is that they have a giant touchscreen in the middle of the dash the only things that are not part of the touchscreen for the radio or the volume up/down/on off the change channel button, the scan button in the homepage button For the air conditioning, you have air from the fan temperature and various other controls and you have heated seats but you can also just up from the touch screen. You can play audio or media from your mobile device which I know how to do but I never use the touch part of the car, yes I know we have preset stations but I like to scan through them all when one of the stations is giving commercials or something like that. My aunt has a Toyota four runner which also has it as well but when we rented that van to me it was awesome because it had manual controls no touch screens to be found, it would’ve been a bit better. If they had Bluetooth touch screens I can get rid of Bluetooth I would rather keep. I also do not have a problem with push button start where you have a proximity key. I do like regular keys but push button start keys are fine, but when we rented the van, the Chevrolet van had a manual key manual and automatic locks, automatic windows and nice big buttons, levers switches and controls to move around. A lot of cars over here are getting too high tech and too advanced. I’ve been in a Tesla before I’ve just sat in it, I’m still hoping for a Tesla ride though to get to the car you have to unlock it that’s on Teslas to get into the Tesla you have to unlock it and then the handles come out of the doors then what you do is you put your hand underneath the handle many regular cars have handles that you can pull in both ways you put your hand underneath or on top but that’s when you have to put your hand underneath it or touch it and then you can open up the door The door has lots of things in it. I sat in the backseat of my neighbors Tesla sedan. It was pretty cool I’ve never been in one. I still like power trunk and power sliding doors things you can get rid of when I was sitting in the backseat there was an air vent that was on the air conditioning was on and below that I think you already know it was a touchscreen below that vent and I was like oh no to me I think a touchscreen is OK for the rear occupants but for the front no also another weird thing about that Tesla car when you close the door on normal cars you have a door handle on the inside, but on this car you have a button that is kind of hidden and you have to push that button to get released from the car. I also checked out the front driver seat. The steering wheel looks odd and things like that. There are a bunch of small buttons which I kind of like I’m glad that the whole steering wheel doesn’t have touchpads on it but in the middle there’s a giant touchscreen. Somethings on modern cars I like, but some I don’t I think that Teslas are too advanced for me, but the only thing I like about Teslas is that there is something really cool on it. It’s not the only thing, but I like it many other cars should I adopt this there is a camera on the outside of the car that if someone hits your car then it’ll wake up the system and it will start filming. I find that especially useful if someone is trying to steal your car if someone steals your car you will have footage of it. I think that that is cool, but for some cars it is too expensive, but I still think it’s a good idea My dad has currently a Chevrolet Malibu sedan. The car has a smaller engine than the 2013 model because it’s a 2016 model it has a touchscreen in the front which I do not want to mess with these touch screens in cars are use an iPhone with a touchscreen And certain features turned on but cars don’t have certain features that I use and it’s easy to get lost in touch screens that you don’t know anything about before this Chevy Malibu. My dad had another one same body style though but it was a 2013 and I think it had a six cylinder engine or maybe a bigger four-cylinder but the cool thing about it was is For the radio it was a touchscreen but the radio preset buttons were at the bottom of the screen. The screen is an a panel that lifts up and you can store things in there so I could change the stations in the volume but the rest I never touched. My mom also has a GM/Chevrolet car as well. It’s an MPV that can fit up to eight people. It’s front wheel drive possibly four-wheel-drive it’s got a power assistant trunk which I love the front seats. Feel good the front and middle seats. Middle row seats feel good but if you’re in the third row, it can be a bit cramped back there , the driver and passenger have heated seats. There are some buttons but a giant touchscreen is in the middle of the dash which controls a lot. I don’t like it. There is the multimedia system with a USB and other inputs down in a cubby where you can store your mobile device, and there are buttons on the steering wheel to control things such as audio controls and lights in the middle row in the middle row, there is a consul with an armrest that is part of the front seats, but in the middle row you have buttons and levers and knobs to control the rear heat/air conditioning and some charge points in the third row you don’t have much yeah sure it’s a good car Scott, powerful small V-8 engine can carry your whole family but the only thing I don’t like is the touchscreen and that’s why I don’t like touch screens in cars but not the front
I do appreciate modern technology if it does have some benefits for me, but often times it hasn't. I would NOT want to edit my RUclips videos on an old Amiga2000 with the Video Toaster ;-)
What are the emission regulations in Germany?Would you be liable to pay more as your new car is devoid of new emission prevention tech. Great car. Had an old Skoda from the Communists times. Cried when they took it away. Great vid!
Not entirely sure about the regulations for new cars. But you would not think about buying a new car that does not fulfill the lowest emission class, because there are loads of low emission zones which you could not drive into otherwise. Especially if you drive a Diesel. Taxation is calculated by the amount of CO2 the car emits... and probably also the emission class it is in. Older cars are still taxed by the displacement and the emission class. It's very expensive to regularly tax an old 3 liter diesel for example. If a car is older than 30 years you can apply for a 'historical vehicle' number plate which comes with a flat tax no matter what emission class or displacement. The car also can drive into any low emission zones. I would love to drive one of those old Skodas, btw :-)
@@Theshadowsnose I had a later model. I think my steering wheel was different and the dash was different. Yours looks like a right classic. I really like it. Paid 8000 guilders for it.
@@Theshadowsnose Well, it was guilders, so about 3.500 euros. And I bought it off a Volvo dealership. A complete rip-off but I made them pay for the head gasket repair which wasn't cheap! I never have a lot of luck with cars somehow. The 626 served me for years though. Being a diesel it did smoke a little, but it was good to drive.
There is no emission control for registered vintage cars. They only have to pass the emissions they had when the car was new and they are also free to drive into any low emission zone.
Just someone on my lane decided that he wanted to turn left and blocked the lane. Luckily someone on the turning lane let him in, so I didn't have to wait too much because of this. I was already a little bit pissed off, because every traffic light was red that day.
I would love to have one, but I would not want one as a daily driver. They are HUGE and they like to drink a lot of fuel... which is pretty expensive over here.
@@Theshadowsnose yep, there's a reason why a lot of mechanics here in the States call the old Mercedes, Panzers. They are big, heavy, and drink a lot of fuel!
@@SexycuteStudios They are indeed built like a tank. I had a 1970 220 Diesel a couple of years ago and it was very reliable despite being already more than 40 years old. I took it on a road trip to Gibraltar, twice, which is about 1500 miles away from home. No problems at all. Not even passing the Pyrenee mountains in a snow storm with altitudes up to almost 8000ft. The only maintenance I did was changing the oil before I left home.

For some reason I really don't like Coke Zero! Just can't get around the taste of it. It's the exact opposite with the 'regular' variants. I don't like regular Pepsi at all. I already have thought about a Cola video, but it will probably cover more than just Pepsi and Coke... and I'm thinking about tasting them blind, so I can just judge by the taste without any prejudice. But I need some assistance for that and with the social distancing at the moment it's not easy. Also not sure if I will do it on my English or German channel. Depends on the assistance :-)
As long as the car is road worthy they let you drive everything you want over here. You even get exempt from all emission regulations if your car qualifies as a 'historical vehicle'
It's a great car. Has some surprising features that you surely do not expect from a European car. I just found out that you can adjust the hight of the steering wheel which is great, because I now can see the speedometer :-)

I think I said 'utalitarian' :-) Modern cars seem to be more totalitarian where a computer inside the car decides how fast I can drive or how much power is allowed to be directed to the wheels. When I drive a car, I want to make all the decisions and not a stupid computer!
When it comes to cars, I actually prefer the '70s over the '80, but '70s cars are much more expensive to buy. And unless they are made by Mercedes Benz, they tend to be a LOT more unreliable than '80s car. So this seems to be like a good compromise between joy and reason :-)

Hello, good to see you guys again. The 626 we were karted around in as kids was a very comfortable car.
It is a great car to drive as well.
And it seems pretty economic, too.
Just came back from the gas station and I got 38 mpg(uk).
Not bad for an old family saloon, I must say.

Holy crap. This was my first car. I had a 2.0 litre diesel. Started straight away every time. Tons and tons of room in the back. Not super fast but very reliable. Amazing to see one. I had a gold coloured one :)
The day after I bought mine it wouldn't start and the head gasket needed to be changed. Naturally a warranty job.

@@Theshadowsnose The first morning after I got it, it wouldn't start at all. So I took it back and they put in a new head gasket. After that it was as solid as a rock!
Nice 626 GC, seems to be in pretty decent shape :) Always loved these for the electronic melody warning system but haven't owned one. I had two Mazda 323's though, a 1982 323 Hatchback in the 1990's and after that, a 1990 323 sedan. My parents also had a 1983 323 Hatchback in the 80's.
Now I drive 2016 Kia Rio and my parents have 2014 VW Golf Mk7.
Interesting channel all in all, retro gaming interests me too :) For example I have Commodore Amiga 500, Playstation 1,2 and 3, Mattel Intellivision, etc.

This is my first Mazda and I still think it's a pretty good car.
My family had Audi 80s since the mid '80s since we had terribly bad luck with ford before.
I had a Mk7 or MK8 Golf as a company car for a while and I was pretty disappointed with it, to be honest.
Never had a car where the engine felt that anemic than in that car.
Probably because the gear ratio was chosen for most fuel economy which made the car pretty undrivable imho.
I am used to drive in 4th gear on city roads. Did that since I got my driving license. And the Golf was the first car that struggled to accelerate in 4th gear when I floored the throttle after exiting the city.
And I did drive a 60HP 1.5 ton mercedes Diesel for a while.
Even that car had no problems accelerating from 50 km/h in 4th gear.
I bought 87 model with 2 liter engine, 4 electric windows and sunroof a few months ago. You gotta love the velour on the seats. Not as comfortable as they look though.
Overall nice car.

I don't think that Germans bought those cars because of any economic crisis, but because they realized that they were pretty good and economic cars.
My family bought a used Audi 80 at that time and while being a pretty good and reliable car, I don't remember it being much better than this Mazda.
Now that makes me want to leave my door open and listen to the melody
Sadly there are exactly 2 electronic parts in that car and one of them is broken... guess which one ;-)

Manual transmission is still very common over here in Europe.
Manual cars tend to be cheaper and use less fuel and fuel is very expensive over here.
From all the cars I had in my life, only 1 had an automatic transmission and that was modded to run on LPG, which wasn't taxes the same way petrol was.
LPG was 40 cents per liter while petrol was 1,3€.
I didn't mind to get only 18 mpg at that price.
Now I hope I can get 30 mpg out of that Mazda when I drive calmly.

Ich hab auch noch mehrere Röhrenradios hier rumstehen.
Manche Dinge haben sich halt auch nicht wirklich verbessert.
Der Mazda bringt mich genauso von A nach B wie jedes moderne Auto auch. In vergleichbarer Zeit, zu vergleichbaren Kosten.
Die Röhrenradios hab ich mir damals gekauft, weil ich gerne AFN gehört hab und den gabs nur auf Mittelwelle.
Da war jedes von meinen alten Radios jedem neuen Radio klanglich überlegen.
Und ich hab das mit einem High-End Tuner von SONY verglichen, den ich von meinem Onkel geerbt hatte.
Selbst der klang schlechter.

You can use some silicone lubricant for the windows. You might also want to check to see that they haven't slipped out of their tracks. It looks like it's in good condition for a car that old.
It is in pretty good condition.
It has it's quirks, but that is to be expected from an old car that hasn't been restored.
IN 1984 I was ready for a new car. Really wanted a Datsun Maxima, but could not locate a new one by October of that year. Had to settle for second best. Got a decked out 626 in silver with sunroof for $11,000 out the door. Drove it five years. Many many problems with wheel howl and cylinder head gasket failure. Put 110,000 miles on the car, sold it in 1989 for $4000! That was the best part! Not the greatest car, but sort of fun to drive.

Oh I missed this video but better a late comment than never. This is a real "Eisenschwein" and unverwüstlich :-) I really like the Japanese cars from the 80s / 90s and later. As a trained car mechanic, I can say: It's pretty solid technology! You can't compare that to the crap that's been built these days

You probably missed out the experience how it feels to take a road trip and have the car breaking down, or just go shopping with your parents and have the car not starting when you came back after an hour or two.
In my memories, the early '80s was the time where manufacturers actually managed to get cars working reliably.
@@Theshadowsnose That's how it was, for sure. My family had quite a bit of luck with those Mazdas. We even drove from Germany to Hungary on the holidays. Also, no rust with those models, not that I know of.

We had family in Southern Germany, a 400km trip. And everytime we went to visit them it was a bit of an adventure.
I remember once we drove there and after like 250 km, my dad stopped overtaking trucks and stayed on the right lane for the next 100km until we left the Autobahn.
Then he stopped and told us, that the Engine is probably broken, but we would be fine because if the car would not go any further our family who had a car repair shop, could tow us there :-)
The car made it through the mountains, but after my dad turned it off, it never started again.
We got an use Audi 80 after that and the adventure was gone :-)

From my experience driving it for a couple of days I must say that it's a pretty good car for its era.
I have driven an 1987, I think, Opel Ascona for a while and I don't remember it being better than this one.

I always wondered why they made such a fuzz about getting to 140 km/h... that's NOT a fast speed.
Even my old Nissan could easily get to that speed.
I don't think I ever had a car that could not reach that speed... well I had one.
The old Merc 220 Diesel that I had was listed with a top speed of 135, but that was a 1970 1.5 ton diesel with only 60 HP.
Not something that looked as 'fast' as a DeLorean did.

We never had a Mazda’s when I was young my mom had various other cars but the Mazda Melody Time is a bit cooler than the chime in Hyundai Nissan Subaru in Mitsubishi. My mom had a Hyundai and Mitsubishi and they had the dingdong bell door chime, but this one it plays a song if you leave your key in the ignition. Also, Hyundai and Mitsubishi were good cars until they died. I like Mazda two I like the Mazda minivan which is called Mazda MPV. It looks good. Looks like an SUV and a minivan combine together but it’s really cool. Also got 6 to 6 recently because MotorWeek said it was a good car And I believe it in their family size hatch comparison test they said Mazda 626 sedan was really good and that lots of people like it
My dad only got 4 cars in his entire life. 2 Fords at first and after that 2 Audis.
The Ford were pretty unreliable. After we got the first Audi, we never really had a breakdown again.
The 626 is still really reliable. I'm using it as a daily driver for 3 years now and it never let me down.
Hatte ich auch bis 2001. Verkauft mit 460.000km auf der Uhr. Bis auf Verschleißteile und eine Kopfdichtung problemlos. Von der Zuverlässigkeit her kam da kein anderer Wagen ran.
Ich bin auch langsam ein Fan von japanischen Autos.
Die Japaner können definitiv zuverlässige Autos bauen.
Ich möchte keinen FIAT BJ 84 sehen... wahrscheinlich ist das eh nur ein häufchen Rost ;-)

I just don't use it right now, because we had a terrible snowstorm the other day and I don't have any winter tires.
Luckily I only have to travel 4km one way right now which is a quite enjoyable hike through the nearby forest, so I actually don't miss driving too much and enjoy my morning sports... for the first time in my life :-)

It was there and the price was right.
I could have bought a more modern car, of course. But I don't plan on driving too much until I got a new job and didn't want to drive a more modern car.

15 years ago I had a BMW Mini and I got an old Mercedes Diesel, just for fun.
Well, I ended up not getting another new Mini, but I kept the Mercedes as a daily driver for the summer and I got a rather old Nissan Micra to drive in the winter.
It was more fun than driving a new Mini... and it was more economical as well :-)
I hope I can afford an old Mercedes again some day. They are really amazing cars.
I like 6 to 6 it is really cool really good car really reliable like Toyota I like five speed manual 626 which we got automatic as well because some of my family don’t know how to drive manual, so they drive automatic. I also like Toyota forerunner as well And don’t know if I should trade in 6 to 6. For forerunner but I don’t know the only thing I don’t like on new forerunners is that some of the buttons are not the buttons anymore is the touchscreen I don’t like that in new cars the radio is hidden in some menu thing and you have to find it and then you have to select your certain stations, but it has cruise control and it has radio select station on steering wheel but I don’t like the touchscreen system. I like these old style big manual levers that you move instead of the touchscreen.
I hate the electronics in modern cars!
Maybe that comes partially from having driven a modern Volkswagen Golf, but my mate Thomaniac has a new Opel (Vauxhall) Astra and the entertainment/GPS system is even worse than in the Golf :-)
Touchscreen operation is a big no go for me for anything that I want to operate while driving!
with 'real' buttons I can feel the right button and operate it without taking my eyes off the road. No chance doing this with a touch screen. I think touchscrrens should not be allowed in cars because it's dangerous!

Most American domestic cars come with a touchscreen in it not just American cars import as well. Such as a Toyota in Mazda and Volkswagen. I hate touchscreen’s because I can get so lost in them versus buttons I know where it is.
When you buy a brand new car in America, it comes with a touchscreen infotainment system. A lot of things are touchscreens and that is not Justin small cars like small sedan cars. They’re basically in everything now they’re in small cars are in compact cars, midsize cars, full-size cars, cars, SUVs minivans Trucks, electric vehicles, hybrid, vehicles, and even basic cars have them the only exception is for commercial trucks, which they still use the buttons some of them they do
My family rented a moving van/cargo van to decorate a party last weekend in the cab of the car. There were no touch screens to be found at all. The only problem I had was setting the stations on the presets on the radio but everything was manual controls And I was like yes, manual controls I loved it
My mom and my dad they own modern Chevrolets, which are good cars, but the only problem is is that they have a giant touchscreen in the middle of the dash the only things that are not part of the touchscreen for the radio or the volume up/down/on off the change channel button, the scan button in the homepage button For the air conditioning, you have air from the fan temperature and various other controls and you have heated seats but you can also just up from the touch screen. You can play audio or media from your mobile device which I know how to do but I never use the touch part of the car, yes I know we have preset stations but I like to scan through them all when one of the stations is giving commercials or something like that. My aunt has a Toyota four runner which also has it as well but when we rented that van to me it was awesome because it had manual controls no touch screens to be found, it would’ve been a bit better. If they had Bluetooth touch screens I can get rid of Bluetooth I would rather keep. I also do not have a problem with push button start where you have a proximity key. I do like regular keys but push button start keys are fine, but when we rented the van, the Chevrolet van had a manual key manual and automatic locks, automatic windows and nice big buttons, levers switches and controls to move around. A lot of cars over here are getting too high tech and too advanced. I’ve been in a Tesla before I’ve just sat in it, I’m still hoping for a Tesla ride though to get to the car you have to unlock it that’s on Teslas to get into the Tesla you have to unlock it and then the handles come out of the doors then what you do is you put your hand underneath the handle many regular cars have handles that you can pull in both ways you put your hand underneath or on top but that’s when you have to put your hand underneath it or touch it and then you can open up the door The door has lots of things in it. I sat in the backseat of my neighbors Tesla sedan. It was pretty cool I’ve never been in one. I still like power trunk and power sliding doors things you can get rid of when I was sitting in the backseat there was an air vent that was on the air conditioning was on and below that I think you already know it was a touchscreen below that vent and I was like oh no to me I think a touchscreen is OK for the rear occupants but for the front no also another weird thing about that Tesla car when you close the door on normal cars you have a door handle on the inside, but on this car you have a button that is kind of hidden and you have to push that button to get released from the car. I also checked out the front driver seat. The steering wheel looks odd and things like that. There are a bunch of small buttons which I kind of like I’m glad that the whole steering wheel doesn’t have touchpads on it but in the middle there’s a giant touchscreen. Somethings on modern cars I like, but some I don’t I think that Teslas are too advanced for me, but the only thing I like about Teslas is that there is something really cool on it. It’s not the only thing, but I like it many other cars should I adopt this there is a camera on the outside of the car that if someone hits your car then it’ll wake up the system and it will start filming. I find that especially useful if someone is trying to steal your car if someone steals your car you will have footage of it. I think that that is cool, but for some cars it is too expensive, but I still think it’s a good idea
My dad has currently a Chevrolet Malibu sedan. The car has a smaller engine than the 2013 model because it’s a 2016 model it has a touchscreen in the front which I do not want to mess with these touch screens in cars are use an iPhone with a touchscreen And certain features turned on but cars don’t have certain features that I use and it’s easy to get lost in touch screens that you don’t know anything about before this Chevy Malibu. My dad had another one same body style though but it was a 2013 and I think it had a six cylinder engine or maybe a bigger four-cylinder but the cool thing about it was is For the radio it was a touchscreen but the radio preset buttons were at the bottom of the screen. The screen is an a panel that lifts up and you can store things in there so I could change the stations in the volume but the rest I never touched.
My mom also has a GM/Chevrolet car as well. It’s an MPV that can fit up to eight people. It’s front wheel drive possibly four-wheel-drive it’s got a power assistant trunk which I love the front seats. Feel good the front and middle seats. Middle row seats feel good but if you’re in the third row, it can be a bit cramped back there , the driver and passenger have heated seats. There are some buttons but a giant touchscreen is in the middle of the dash which controls a lot. I don’t like it. There is the multimedia system with a USB and other inputs down in a cubby where you can store your mobile device, and there are buttons on the steering wheel to control things such as audio controls and lights in the middle row in the middle row, there is a consul with an armrest that is part of the front seats, but in the middle row you have buttons and levers and knobs to control the rear heat/air conditioning and some charge points in the third row you don’t have much yeah sure it’s a good car Scott, powerful small V-8 engine can carry your whole family but the only thing I don’t like is the touchscreen and that’s why I don’t like touch screens in cars but not the front

What are the emission regulations in Germany?Would you be liable to pay more as your new car is devoid of new emission prevention tech. Great car. Had an old Skoda from the Communists times. Cried when they took it away. Great vid!
Not entirely sure about the regulations for new cars.
But you would not think about buying a new car that does not fulfill the lowest emission class, because there are loads of low emission zones which you could not drive into otherwise.
Especially if you drive a Diesel.
Taxation is calculated by the amount of CO2 the car emits... and probably also the emission class it is in.
Older cars are still taxed by the displacement and the emission class.
It's very expensive to regularly tax an old 3 liter diesel for example.
If a car is older than 30 years you can apply for a 'historical vehicle' number plate which comes with a flat tax no matter what emission class or displacement.
The car also can drive into any low emission zones.
I would love to drive one of those old Skodas, btw :-)

@@Theshadowsnose I had a later model. I think my steering wheel was different and the dash was different. Yours looks like a right classic. I really like it. Paid 8000 guilders for it.
8000 is not a low amount of money for a car!

@@Theshadowsnose Well, it was guilders, so about 3.500 euros. And I bought it off a Volvo dealership. A complete rip-off but I made them pay for the head gasket repair which wasn't cheap!
I never have a lot of luck with cars somehow.
The 626 served me for years though. Being a diesel it did smoke a little, but it was good to drive.

There is no emission control for registered vintage cars.
They only have to pass the emissions they had when the car was new and they are also free to drive into any low emission zone.

Just someone on my lane decided that he wanted to turn left and blocked the lane.
Luckily someone on the turning lane let him in, so I didn't have to wait too much because of this.
I was already a little bit pissed off, because every traffic light was red that day.

I would love to have one, but I would not want one as a daily driver.
They are HUGE and they like to drink a lot of fuel... which is pretty expensive over here.

@@Theshadowsnose yep, there's a reason why a lot of mechanics here in the States call the old Mercedes, Panzers. They are big, heavy, and drink a lot of fuel!

I had a 1970 220 Diesel a couple of years ago and it was very reliable despite being already more than 40 years old.
I took it on a road trip to Gibraltar, twice, which is about 1500 miles away from home. No problems at all.
Not even passing the Pyrenee mountains in a snow storm with altitudes up to almost 8000ft.
The only maintenance I did was changing the oil before I left home.

I don't like regular Pepsi at all.

I'm amazed they let you drive something almost as old as I am.
As long as the car is road worthy they let you drive everything you want over here.
You even get exempt from all emission regulations if your car qualifies as a 'historical vehicle'

I just found out that you can adjust the hight of the steering wheel which is great, because I now can see the speedometer :-)

Modern cars seem to be more totalitarian where a computer inside the car decides how fast I can drive or how much power is allowed to be directed to the wheels.
When I drive a car, I want to make all the decisions and not a stupid computer!

ha ha you just love the 80's..those old mazdas are good cars..before ford came in..
When it comes to cars, I actually prefer the '70s over the '80, but '70s cars are much more expensive to buy.
And unless they are made by Mercedes Benz, they tend to be a LOT more unreliable than '80s car.
So this seems to be like a good compromise between joy and reason :-)
