I noticed if you actually focus on something besides the clouds, there's a man trying to explain something about that plane he's in. It's pretty wild, try it.
I have murdered so many Vipers and Jeff’s in the Hornet it’s not even funny. Contrary to what most think, it’s a BVR monster. The trick is to load it correctly.
Just wow. I was watching a documentary of the Swedish Gripen where the pilot says that they are now more of systems operators and these videos are really proving that point. Also, nice clouds.
I'm really loving the updates that have basically been software upgrades. It really makes it feel modern, and you actually get to see the full potential of the aircraft hardware.
Im a bit sad to not be able to filter for group IDs like in the A10 and filter what lines I actually can see. Ill be a mess on public servers. Also there is a public document that states you can see the line change when a friendly fired on a contact. Hope we see that in the future, enabling silent BVR engadgements. On the other hands, its great to have it at all.
This is great for SA and understanding how wingmen actually work. I noticed that datalink target visualisation was already working in the Viper few month ago (in A/A mode). ... also great looking clouds. When mere mortals will be able to play with them?

How did you select the remaining target on the air-to-air demo? I see your sensor control was on the attack radar but I saw a circle similar to the f-14's hand control unit at 1:03. Thanks. Awesome updates Wags!
It's crazy that precision weapons delivery has advanced to the state that we actually have systems in these planes to let pilots make sure they all fire on DIFFERENT targets - 50 years ago we still used "everybody shoot that guy, and one of us might kill him" by default...
I bought the F-18 as my first HD module in hard competion from the F-16. Loved it straight away, but since everyone said the F-16 was such a BVR monster I bought that to during the winter sale. Yup, it was great but the Hornet allways felt more refined and smart with the radar functions and IFF and now this. I guess this will come to F-16 also since they are both LINK 16 systems but in the meantime the F-18 is like a SA deluxe plane :) Also, all this external views that is shown off before he starts the talking, that really takes away the focus on the technical stuff, dont you think? Could it be a clouded judgment from Matt? :P
A few questions about this: Does it work the same when the L&S is a friendly target? Can you somehow mark and then point to a ground target your buddy is designating via TXDSG?
Are you going to be able to see the target designation point from your wingman on your own HMD? And those clouds look amazing, cant wait to fly trough them ☁️
Am I the only one who thinks Wags sounds like Luke Wilson? Going through the whole SU 25t training I was picturing Luke Wilson's face while learning the Frogfoot systems.
The question I have for Wags: when, at a rough estimate, is the ACLS (automatic carrier landing system) going to be implemented? The Tomcat has it, and I’m jealous! 😂
Hey Matt, are there any plans to update the in-game tutorials to add all the recently implemented features? Many of us find much easier by learning through interactive tutorials, like the ones in-game (or in-sim?)
Any one knows If ED planning on doing more flaming cliffs type modules of other American Jets like the F-15 we have? Say F-4, F-100 or others like that. Maybe going full fidelity takes too long to develop but we could get some cool new Official Nam era jets, also good for new pilots to learn DCS 🧐
What the heck is going on at 1:04?? How are you redesignating like that? Your sensor select diamond is on the FCR and never leaves, and it looks like you're manipulating the TPOD based on either the SA or AZ/EL display, but I can't tell which one or how, especially because the FLIR pod isn't even on any screens. I've rewatched it like 7 times and I still have no clue what's going on.
The radar is in TWS mode and he only has a single target selected (no secondary). Hitting the undesignate / nose wheel steering button repeatedly will cycle through the targets. If you have a secondary target identified, the undesignate will swap between the two.
Quick question: I assume human players are still only able to be flight leaders. So this will be showing txdsg for different “flights” in an MP environment, correct?
Scary, really scary to imagine fighting an opponent who cracks the code for this system. They could set our aircraft to blasting each other out of the air. It'd be the ultimate circular firing squad.
It’s hard to explain but the way these systems are made there is no easy way to “crack the code”. If it wasn’t secure it wouldn’t be put into the jet in the first place. What would be scary in my opinion is an enemy that’s able to manipulate IFF.
OK the lighting of the HUD symbology looks very different in this video, compared even to Wags' video of just a week ago. it seems to have a light flicker and glow to it. Is this a) my imagination, b) due to the time of day of the flight, c) youtube encoding or d) a change to the HUD rendering? EDIT: Ok at 1:30 it goes back to how it used to look. Must be the time of day :-(
Hey everyone, CLOUDS here from CLOUDS dynamic. In the next CLOUDS update we are gonna be adding new CLOUDS. CLOUDS designation for the CLOUDS awarness page. - that's what I heard.
Will we be be able to target a trackfile in any way though the SA page in the future? Is that something the real Hornet can do? Would be great for those times a friendly has a target tracked but it might be outside your search volume.
I believe that feature came about with the AIM-120D, one step past what we have in DCS. This is definitely an IIRC thing, but I believe the Delta AMRAAM added the ability to guide off of datalink info.
The degree of detail in the DCS F-18 is to big that I wonder if everything is like this in real life and how's possible for them to have access to the F-18 in that detail considering that it's not a retired aircraft.
In DCS these complex/secure systems are greatly simplified. The features being modelled are ~15 years old, some restricted distribution (not secret) documents are on the internet, as are public documents from manufactures, congress, etc. that are used to "sell" these features/upgrades, university thesis i.e. explaining how the Super Hornet improves on this older software - all help ED to get it to "look like" the real thing without breaking NDA's, etc. Unfortunately Russia isn't as relaxed/confident as the USA in it's freedom of information - so we are unlikely to ever see as detailed a Russian aircraft (unless made by someone outside of Russia).

Just here for the weekly "look at those clouds"
The Hornet is becoming a Monster!
For sure. For what started as a very limited airplane, it now has many functionalitis that makes it very lethal.

@@THEKING-fv7vr eh, I wouldn't say it's a "monster" at BVR. It's literally less capable at BVR than a viper in every way.
It's a monster to learn too

No idea hornet even had such a functionality irl. Great stuff as always. Cheers Matt.
The Hornet keeps on getting more clouds.
And ED keeps taking way too long to release F-16 JHMCS datalink-symbology... ;(

Wandering eyes keep checking out her clouds but her MDF's are up there.
It's really nice to see these new features being implemented. Thank you team.
Is this just for situational awareness or can you actually designate targets for your wingman?
This is something I've been eagerly awaiting as well!
it's situational awareness - the radio commands remain the same. But in multi player - it will shine, assuming it works nicely
I wonder if it like the A10C where you can capture your flights SPI and look straight at it
This is such a game changer. I love it. The clouds are amazing. Can't wait to do some AAR then get through those clouds and blow things up!

A few questions about this:
Does it work the same when the L&S is a friendly target?
Can you somehow mark and then point to a ground target your buddy is designating via TXDSG?
You could certainly approximate it by moving your target over theirs, but I get that's not the same
At 0:37 why is the left engine at 100% but the right one only 94%, and autothrottle is enabled?! What's happening?
Nice! That takes out a lot of confusion upon engagement of targets.

The air to air symbology only appears when your ally locks the target via STT only or also via TWS?
He said L&S 0:46, which should be the main 'target' in TWS right? I wonder if it shows a difference between that and when a target is actually locked?
Should be anytime an L&S is designated, be it via STT or TWS.
I don't remember ever seeing the pilot model in the cockpit. Has that always been an option?
Yes..right shift +p on default if im not mistaken
what did he do to switch targets??
