We were on a Viking cruise of the Cities of Antiquity, pulling into Ashdod, getting ready to pull into our docking space when sirens began going off on land and a patrol boat pull alongside shouting commands to our ship. The Captain, immediately turned the ship around and and headed out to sea at full speed. One in our group had gone out on his balcony and actually saw these incoming missiles and the Iron Dome missiles shooting them down. At the moment, we were not aware of what was happening but we quickly learned. Our ship then proceeded several hours north to our next port-of-call, Haifa, where we spent an extra night. While we could not do our tour of Masada and the Dead Sea, we were able to still visit Bethlehem and Jerusalem the next day as they were well out of the range of Gaza missiles.
