I think it’s fantastic...after many listens I have found plenty of meat... I appreciate the reviewers expertise, but this is a gem of an album

With all respect, but the fact that you're saying that you couldn't differentiate some songs from each other makes me think you didn't let this album sink in long enough. In any case, amazing album as far as I'm concerned!

Yes, Notes it means "death" in English. And oddly enough Spanish is very phonetically driven so it almost always sounds like it is spelled. La Moo-air-ta

his vocals are amazing, the voice, the sound mix, the keyboard solo at La Muerta song is one of the most amazing keys solo I ve ever witnessed in this genre from a non-legendary band, it's a fabulous album, but still, we feel some FEW inspiration issues, but we loved it that way, ur review is also so amazing thanks

Disagree on your assessment in some ways. There's definitely some big meat here, especially the title track and Evern Though The Stars Don't Shine which have fantastic hooks. These guys are not neo-prog: they're basically a progressive pop band with some metal touches here and there. Once you wrap your mind around that, it all makes a lot more sense.

Neo-Prog is kind of a label I wouldn't use for this band too much either, this band was formed by the Vocalist and Guitarist for Sieges Even after that band split in 2008, and has a very similar sound to the final two albums from that band. Sieges Even was more or less a straight-forward traditional prog-metal group, and that's still how I would classify the overall sound/genre for Subsignal... with a couple of Neo-Prog influences.
I really enjoyed this record, it's a bit lighter than their other stuff, but I think their debut "Beautiful & Monstrous" and their 3rd album "Pariso" are my favorite..... or you can go back to those final two Sieges Even albums "Art of Navigating By The Stars", and "Paramount" and enjoy those as well.

I don't know who this guy is, but the album is great and a great band. Saw them at Rosfest. All five of their albums are a must have.

Welp, it's like Nine from Circus Maximus. People were acustomed to their full prog metal style but when that album came up opinions were divided cause it lacked what they been doing and their sound was more earcandy than ever.
If someone told you Subsignal are neo-prog then you expect something from that band, later you will dislike it when it doesnt match the expectation.
Im not a fan of full prog bands, I find most of them pretentious like a rapper covered in gold, they try to sell you something but in the end is everything but music.
La muerta and Nine are some of my favourites albums cause they show how much fun the people behind had writing and composing those albums. Casual, poppy, yet interesting taking advantage of their experience doing prog and using prog elements, but not forced or abused. Catchy.
Also, I bet they were trying to name the album 'La muerte' since it's the actual spanish name of 'the grim', 'La muerta' is more like a regular dead female.

I love Subsignal. Beautiful & Monstrous is great. I really like the new stuff as well. How do you feel about Spock's Beard's new album "Noise Floor". I think it's fantastic.

I agree with you. A lot of songs work quite well for themselves and are very enjoyable, but there is no feeling of an "album" - there is no real link between the songs telling us "these songs have to come together".

I heard the entire album and I must say your "vegetable stew- Where's the beef" metaphor is spot on. Download done.
