i learned a lot from your old videos. i build mostly mud mowers but still was very helpful , thank you and that pushrod looked like a large aluminum nail. you should have used it. seems strong. DWL
The videos are amazing I’m in the world of building a race mower now and would really appreciate if you could make a video of how you wired the mower with the toggle switch and push button start love the videos
Also I work at a tractor and mower shop we have lots of mowers and stuff in the back either not picked up or to much money to get it back on the road again so it sits . Definitely check with shops
I was going to ask about the car.... looks good, from what you showed. the broken rod could be 4140 or something that will temper , it looks like its glass hard. at the break.
If you’re replacing the push rods when you do the motor build show them how weak the steel ones are saying how I push the bent one back straight with my thumb is that the track for you
the spindle broke because its moly. unless you tig weld it they become brittle and crack. we use a regular grade 8 bolt on our outlaw mini mod cars that are 900# and use a 600 crotch rocket engine
Evening sir, I have a 740 peerless transmission on a race mower that was given to my nephew. My issue is when you select a forward gear mower goes in reverse. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for time
9 months... thought you fell off the planet. good to see you back.
Haha, thanks for sticking around!
That piece of aluminum for the substitute pushrod is a huge nail with the head cut off... I've got tons of them in my shop for hangers.
😂
Rain gutter nail
Just got done watching back to the future....
Love to see some more mower content
I'll be doing a motor build video for some new BP engines next.
@@TheJanticJournal perfect I'm about halfway done with my mower and I'm actually running a Briggs intek V-Twin along with a Peerless 700
I would love to see some videos of those mowers running and being used.
I'm going to make sure this season to cover at least one or two events.
Thanks for the shout out!!!
Nice work!😁
Thanks for the update. Please do more videos and some videos of you at the races!!
Man I love the videos.. Super informational. I'm in the process of building my first cp class mower

Metalurgical Inspector here, your assumption would be correct. Chances are there was a crack before hand on that spindle.
Thanks for the input! Still have to check the other ones for cracks

One question for the race mowers. When you race do you shift 1,2,3,4,5 or do you keep it in one gear and race?
We only run in one gear, switching gears under power will almost guarantee blowing the gearbox up in my experience.
@@TheJanticJournal thanks just started a mower build and didn’t know for sure

I'll do that in an upcoming video, I haven't made up the new pushrods but I'll mention it when I do
I’m starting the build on my first mower. What size tires are those ?

What did you run for pulleys on this motor did you change them from the beginning
I'm running a 6" pulley on the motor and 5" on the transmission. 6" is much bigger than they come with from the factory
What size gear are you running on transmission and what gear on axle and where did you buy them thanks for info look forward to your response
The gear sizes vary but I ot front and rear at E.C. Carbs
I know you said you’re running a 6/5 pulley setup. How about from the trans to the axle? What’s the ratio sprocket wise
That looks like a gutter nail
Something tells me you like craftsman...
Haha, I just like what's easy to find. I absolutely hate plastic nose pieces though!
@@TheJanticJournal fair enough, I prefer metal over plastic because metal bends, plastic cracks.
What chain do you use on your racer?
#40 roller chain
Thats a gutter nail. Lol
What size tires amd rims r those
The wheels are 6" x 7.25" wide. Tires are 13"x 6.5" wide
@@TheJanticJournal were did u get the rims ??
@@stevenmaines9114 I think I got them from EC Carbourators but that was years ago, not sure about availability now
@@TheJanticJournal yeah .they have them just dont no witch back spaceing to get
I'm new to this but why a 17hp engine instead of a 25hp
Money, and racing class. Not all racing classes allow a 22hp engjen

@@MentalRetard74 I have a 2005 Craftsmen DTS 3000 with a 25 hp, I guess that is really out of the question?

I wish you would just make some parts and sell them online . I would probably buy them
anything you'd do differently if you were just building a mower to drive around the property and such
It would be dirty and rusty if it has been cracked
Would you build and sell me a custom axle for the front with spindles I’m getting my ass kicked trying too replicate your axle
Hi my name is David
What battery or batteries do you run for start and stuff I’ve tried a few with no luck but it’s a stock opposed Briggs
