As a GEC diehard, I never thought I'd be watching a Randall fixed blade video Rob, but I just stumbled upon a Model 8-4 (Bird & Trout) and had to buy it. So what better that to see if you recorded anything about the brand? Great information as always thank you. Oh, and I got a 110 too - but no gun unfortunately, this is the UK! God Bless America - plenty of us here are dancing for joy at your election result.
michaelinsanantone , I have a Model 14 also . Given to me as a young Officer Of US Marines . That was in 1984 . The knife was well used for many applications . After all these years , I am going to send the knife back to Randall for a tune up . I need a new sheath also . The knife brings back many good memories 👍🏻
That pistol is an absolute gem, the Randall looks like a high end fighting blade which if I owned would never use, got the old 110 of course and the 119 which is one of my favorite fixed blades even though I have wrapped the handle with tennis tape, cause I use it. On saying all that I suppose most of us knife guys only use about half our knives more than 10 times a year, you have already done a video on our insanity Rob. Keeps us boys happy with our mans toys.
I have both a vintage Randall Model 1 fighting knife and the same Buck folding knife inherited from my dad, a WWII Vet formerly flying B52s off Tinian.
I have that same pistol A buck knife My Randall knife is the dagger with a leather Handel It was given to my father with his name inscribed by Mr Randall himself as a gift. Mr Randall lived across the street at the house at the end of spring lane in winter park.
Great vid ..... and yes, I saw many of my fellow Marines carrying Randall knives during my 26 years in the US Marine Corps. However, I do prefer the 41 Remington Magnum over the 44 - nice to have choices .....
Funny thing I have that same knife and I was thinking of sending it out to you for sharpening . Now I'm sure ha-ha . Great review , the sheath looked new mine has that green pitting on it. any idea how to get rid of the green stuff ? Keep up the good work .😇
I have a Randall model 1 and the back of the blade is sharpened by the maker. Not by the owner as you suggest. I also have a Buck #12. Not a big fan of S&W. I prefer Colt or Ruger.
Say Heah Ap, Rob, Yeah, I have that #1 model Randall Made, but mine has the leather handle, I also have the Attack Model #14, and a dected out Attack model # 18, mine has the brass hilt and cap with compass, also the knurled handle, I got the saw spine and it's in the stainless steel. the other two are in the O1 carbon steel, At the time my #18, I was lucky that they made mine in the 440c, usually they use the 440C stainless, Yeah, their pretty nice, But, I love my Busse, , ,
The Randall's knives are absolutely beautiful knives they must have started allowing you to choose the steel here recently because when I got mine it was beautifully balanced very well-constructed but the blade just would not hold an edge for nothing. I was actually going to leave a message on here saying how much of the blade steel sucked but now if you can choose different blade steels they're worth looking into that's for sure
The age old problem. Knowing how to sharpen!! Most pro knife sharpeners can't do Randall knives well because you have to sharpen to their specs. If you use Joe Blows super method for sharpening a Randall it won't work.
I own a new in the box Mk2 Gerber Presentation knife which my wife bought for me in 1979 or 1980 It has NO serrations on either side of blade, and is highly polished with polished brass finger guard and bolster and a hardwood (rosewood?) handle instead of the aluminum handle that my old 76ish mk2 sports ....anyone know how much it is worth? Have the original box and sheath also ....I would like to trade one of my gerbers for a Randall model 1
I gotta be honest ApostleP , im not getting the same hard your getting over that knife. Its history, of course, cant be argued with but for 5-700 dollars i can get me a whole arsenal of blades im totally familiar with and trust with my life. Of course i already have that stuff, so i think id spend my money on ammo, or perhaps a battle ready samurai sword
Deckard Shaw, weird, as I just pulled out my dad's WWII vintage Randall Model 1 that was later used to gut game he hunted through the 70s, and it's still damned sharp, although it hasn't been sharpened in more than 40 years. Keep in mind it was meant to gut an enemy, not carve a roast
Not so sure if the U.S. saved the world or not during WW II, but it sure is a beautiful piece. Nonetheless, I prefer Blackjack Knives Model 12-9 (the so-called Randall Sportsman Bowie clone) and A2 tool steel blade cuts like a razor.
Nah you didn't save the world. We have what we have now because you helped consolidate power that always intendedn to have what we have now. In fact if it wasn't for your enemy that yiou helped destroy what we have now would've happened a long ime ago.
I'm not really sure if this is the best video to attach this comment to, since I'm a newcomer to your channel. If you want to be both a prepper and a knife collector, don't *start* with a knife so expensive that you're afraid to actually go out and *use* it.

Nice video and you are right on that Randall. Gorgeous knife.
I am so glad that someone actually used their Randall. I use my Model 14. I am surprised the ApostleP does not own one of these in the collection

Absolutely beautiful Randall... Classic collection there, indeed. Thank you for sharing!
My brother has a Model 14 Randal with a black handle...such a beautiful knife. I'm a big fan of S&W revolvers as well.
A .44 mag, a model 1 and a 110. About all a man needs to survive. Thanks Rob. I like the Blackjack 1-7 during the time Mike was at the helm.
I have a blackjack model 1-7 & I'm on the waiting list for a custom Randall, I'll only have to wait six years.
I have a leather handle model 1. My grandfather used it in france, my dad used it in the nam, now i have it. Not pretty, but razor sharp.
What a wonderful looking and well built american knife!

Really appreciate you mentioning the connection to BR Blackjack model. Mike Stewart makes awesome knives that are very well priced for the quality.
Randall’s are some of the best knives, I had a 14 made and a model 1. I want one of their Bowie knives. They are pure Art!
Nice collection!
My god that knife is gorgeous
..i love the matching brass on that..some have the aluminium or stainless on the end..so i guess you sharpened that by hand..you did a great job!
Thanks Rob. I enjoyed that video 👍🏼
I have both a vintage Randall Model 1 fighting knife and the same Buck folding knife inherited from my dad, a WWII Vet formerly flying B52s off Tinian.
Excellent review.
I have that same pistol
A buck knife
My Randall knife is the dagger with a leather Handel
It was given to my father with his name inscribed by Mr Randall himself as a gift.
Mr Randall lived across the street at the house at the end of spring lane in winter park.
Classic, great share buddy.
Nice video!
I had a Randall Model 14 IIRC when I was in the Army back in the 70's. Sold it to a friend when I ETS'd. Big mistake. Rom 8:28

Gorgeous blade. What a classic. That sucker slalomed right through that paper with ease.
That Buck 110 is the killer, hardly to image such high quality knife in current time.
I own one of those
Buck 110 folders
I would love to have a Randall knife my father named my brother Randall
Nice edge on that #1
I got a Randall 1 from my grate uncle that served in nam 6-8 years and it has a antler handle
There is no finer knife than a Randall...

Nice revolver. I have a nickle plated model 29 with a 6inch barrel.
Got a SOG 2.O Bowie and Buck 110 finger Groove model and lots of Spydercos
I think they all come with sharp swedge, especially on the Attack models, , ,
How would one polish the brass on a buck 110?
Thank you for the help!
In a pinch, toothpaste has some grit in it, and polishes well.
+jonny cola use brasso
Bar keepers friend works well. And Miracle Cloth too.
Yep bit of Brasso and a yellow duster

ya know, im pretty content with my blackjack copy, the 1-7...but my level of want for their arkansas toothpick is unmatched!
Is this the model 1/6 or 1/7?
"Most iconic in the history of man"? That's subject to opinion!
Ya think? 😉

Am I the only one who thinks the wheel gun became obsolete in 1908-1911?
Spectre Probably so. The rest of the guys who thought that got shot to death when their 1911’s jammed 😜
wtf AP no 1911?
I own a new in the box Mk2 Gerber Presentation knife which my wife bought for me in 1979 or 1980 It has NO serrations on either side of blade, and is highly polished with polished brass finger guard and bolster and a hardwood (rosewood?) handle instead of the aluminum handle that my old 76ish mk2 sports ....anyone know how much it is worth? Top comes sharp. It's a hilt and pommel. Get yourself one.
That smith tho 😢

My father went to Vietnam and knows nothing of Randall. My next door nieghor has Vietnam Randall

I just can't understand a man who can't sharpen his own knives.
They walk among us. Good thing too. They’ve put two of my kids through college.

first.
It’s not for your thumb it’s the index finger for pressure on the backstroke
A bit like COLD STEEL R1 MILITARY CLASSIC VG-1 SAN MAY..
