- Hi, here are some references and elaborations :)
00:36
I found two explanations for this lyric online;
1. Uses the vast waters of the Yellow River to represent the soldiers' ambitions, determinations and the spirit of facing death with indifference.
2. Turbulent emotions (maybe the desire to recover lost territory, but the court is rife with corruption and is content with just retreating).
01:08
Refers to the territory that was lost because the rulers of Southern Song were complacent and not keen on fighting. As a result the soldiers were ordered to retreat south, but majority of their hearts longed to recover their lost land in the north.
01:23
Refers to the desire for the empire to recover its strength. 'Four directions' refers to countries/ kingdoms surrounding China and this line basically says that the Middle Kingdom will grow powerful and its neighbours from all directions will come and pay respects/ tribute.
Singer: 屠洪刚 Tu HongGang
Lyrics: 陈涛 Chen Tao
Composition: 张宏光 Zhang HongGuang
