Great suggestions and information. I already the canned foods but I think I'll add some more. I also have Slim Jim's, jerky and bacon bits. I try to buy canned soups that contain meats, too. Thank you.
Thank you very much. I appreciate that. I always add some as I can budget wise. What's great about this list in the video is that a lot of them you can pick up at the Dollar Store pretty cheap. Thanks for stopping by! It's always appreciated.
Momma made us eat what we were served so I learned to like a variety of things I thought I really hated. When your hungry , you will eat what you have or what your served. 💯 I hate fish but I eat it. Guess cause I’m allergic to shell fish so I got turned off on it all. 😢
I grew up with that theme too. We were told to eat what was served. I used to hate fish, but now I love it. At least with the canned foods described in the video, they can be used as a base to mix together with other stuff to create a variety of meals.
Pressure Canned venison; I’ve done it myself for 25+ years. Having the appropriate canning supplies and learning how to can aka jar your own shelf stable food is a no-brainer. Spam is still better than much of the crap people buy & eat at fast food restaurants.
You're welcome! They do have other flavors though. I just saw the maple flavor on Amazon: amzn.to/3AO4Jjh They even have teriyaki flavor: amzn.to/4cVE7up I might give them a shot.
If it’s the sodium content that concerns you Buy the lower sodium version and soak it for about an hour It will remove most of the remaining sodium This will work for the regular version as well ✌️
@@jrbarilla Interesting. Thanks for that. I might give it a try, because SPAM is so cheap and easy to get. If I actually like it, that would be great. So I'll give it a show. Thanks!
Thanks for stopping by the channel! It's appreciated. I did a little research on your inquiry and I came across this information. I hope it helps. Cheers! Generally, unopened canned meats, like tuna, salmon, pork, ham, beef, and SPAM, can last for 2-5 years when stored in a cool, dry place. This is due to the canning process, which seals the food in a vacuum and kills any harmful bacteria. However, a few factors can influence their shelf life: Storage conditions: Extreme heat or cold can shorten the shelf life. Can condition: Look for dents, rust, or leaks. Damaged cans may have compromised the seal. Best-by date: While not a strict expiration date, the "best-by" date is a good guideline. If you're unsure about a can's safety, it's always better to discard it. Look for signs of spoilage, such as bulging cans, leaking liquid, or a foul odor. Remember: Even if a can is past its "best-by" date but appears fine, it's still safe to consume as long as it hasn't been damaged and there are no signs of spoilage.
Thanks for the info. I might give it a shot. This info and other info the community has given me has given me some ideas and options to try. I might try the maple or bacon flavored SPAM. I found this link on Amazon: amzn.to/3MqSV9a
Spam..ahhh..I have eaten spam cooked many different ways but as a sandwich it can't be beat. And.. lucky me I'm the only one in the family that likes it!
Thank you very much! I appreciate that. As for SPAM, I am not a fan, but I've received some feedback from folks. There are other flavors besides the traditional plain flavor. I might try the maple flavor: amzn.to/4fYT5lY or even the teriyaki flavor: amzn.to/3Z6ZyoG
I'm not a fan, but I do have some in my prepper supply because of its versatility. So in a pinch or when resources are scarce, I might have to succumb to eating some. I'm also hearing in comes in newer flavors and not the standard plain one I knew growing up as a kid. I just checked it on Amazon and they have teriyaki flavor. I might have to give it a shot: amzn.to/3yVlCrP
Yep, I'm not a big fan, but I've received a lot of feedback about different flavors. I'm pretty convinced I'm going to at least try a different flavor. I may just get this variety pack I saw on Amazon: amzn.to/4cKGnEH (bacon, hickory smoke, Jalapeno and turkey).
@ThePrepperAlmanac definitely got give them new flavors a try. I might decide to surprise myself and save em for last. My pets might just have to be the guinea pigs.
