what you saw at the 1:00 mark was a bootloader menu, judging by the way it was constantly scrolling through options there might be something wrong with the board or buttons. However heres a quick way you can attempt to repair it yourself.
You can enter this mode again by having it fully powered off, then hold the very bottom button and power button together at the same time. Use the track forward/track backward to scroll through the menu, press the power button to accept the option.
Try to restart again from the bootloader menu by highlighting restart and accept. If this doesnt work, go back into the same bootloader menu but scroll through and lick recovery mode, theres an option to wipe/reset the device to default.
btw, if your in the bootloader menu and things just keep scrolling through then its a physical issue, send it back.

I got one that just went blank and they replaced it. Right out of the box the very next one I received I went to plug in the 4.4mm jack and the entire jack system pushed into the unit and can't make connection. Complete shit

This DX180 is one of the best, maybe you just be unlucky and got a bad one, it hapening sometimes. I received mine on 27.09.2024, and works fine, since i got this i did a firmware update, reseted to factory, re installed everything like Paul from iBasso adviced me, so my player works fine so far. I have already a week of ''burn in'', leaving my headphones FF5 in 4.4 and playing all day long, until battery die, then i charge and put back to play continous, since one week until now, and i have no problems.

I think it is in a bootloop.
Maybe one of the 3 playback buttons got stuck, thereby triggering booting into some kind of recovery or fastboot mode.
I faced a similar issue with Hiby R5 when I accidentally pressed the Next Track button and Power button together.
I would suggest that you could just try to press and release the 3 playback buttons to possibly loosen them and then try booting again.
You could also install Minimum adb and fastboot application if on windows and then try to check whether it is really one of those boot modes and possibly proceed from there like factory resetting or just clearing cache etc.
Best is, just send it back if you are still under warranty coverage without fiddling further.
I also have DX180 and will try to test those button combinations and will let you know later.

I was looking to get an iBasso DX180 and then I came across this video. Should I avoid the DX180 due to these problems, or should I not worry too much?

@@sandydennylives1392 yes I did. Just because one person got a defective unit with stuck buttons doesn't mean you should never buy that product again. Is this a wide spread issue? Did they replace this faulty unit? Many questions that need to be answered.

@@Haydos the build Q puts me off; horribly exposed volume wheel, and crap side buttons. I'm still not ready to trust mass produced Chinese hi fi in the mid to top end; my Sony dap and ancient 20 year plus Mp3 player still work fine.
