LP3 wasnt necessarily bad, just a bit bland, which felt really unnecessary when they had an amazing formula for 2. How you go from "fight the kaiju in multiple different ways" and shooting a sick-ass train cannon to "not scary and less interesting dead space 3" i will never know.
I think that's exactly what it was. Easter developers tend to imitate what the west does with trends in gaming. During this time, they were trying to capitalize on Dead Space. But they should know, slapping on an ip with a reputation shouldn't be changed to adhere to the trends but should commit to its fanbase even more. LP2 was hype for what it was. Changing its formula while could be regarded as, adapting to the times, its a slap in the face to its hardcore fans.
I actually played this game for the first time like a year or two ago! I thought it was actually a fun time, what with the being a mecha-ice trucker fighting alien bugs and stuff. Shooting and world exploration is a good time too!

I do feel bad for the LP series i tried to give it a go for context for the robot in Tastunoko but i couldnt get past the slow movement in 1

I remembered playing this when it came out. I’ve played it on Xbox 360,and it was just okay even though they turned it into a Western style game. While the first game had that Zone of the Enders vibe to it. It’s crazy that this is a prequel to the first Lost Planet game.

I thought this was a good game. It had a different story about a guy who missed his family. The gameplay ranged from good to exciting. I loved how they made the mech battles play out like classic Godzilla battles. It was one of the first games I experienced surround sound with, and I loved the mech's sound system being piped through the rear speakers. It was the first game that made me feel in the game through the sound. So many games I've played ever since don't get surround sound right like this game does.
I dig the "space trucker" vibe of this game but that's about it, the 1st two games were outstanding!!! 👍🏿👍🏿
Oh right. I was wrong in my comment on Wha Happun. The engineer kid Gale is the father of the main character in LP1, but I thought the woman in the cave-in was also related to them. Really need a Lost Planet 4 where the people of EDN III finally take down NEVEC. I need me more kaiju + mechs + clawshot gameplay.
Definitely willing to see some more of this, I'm quite entertained. It's definitely a decent game on its own, when we're not comparing it to the other Lost Planet games.
Still remember getting yelled at in Syracuse by my Canadian rowing coach to put on a took. Had no clue wtf he was talking about for a semester.

I didn't even know that this franchise existed at all. And it looks cool to be honest, the graphics aren't so bad for it's time either. After watching the gameplay I am not sure why people don't recommend it.

More games for Barry Burton are definitely needed. Ever since 1 I've just been like whatever happened to Barry? I mean without him we would never have had lines such as. "You almost became a Jill sandwich." I mean to be honest for the most part that's all I remember about him since they just kinda left him to the way side in the end.

I really needa save up a nice fund for some 360 games & other titles around that era. ..before they all fkin disappear. The Ps2/Xbox - Ps3/360 era was just so jam packed with all sorts o gems. Like Mars - War Logs by Spiders. So good!
Honestly, the main thing is this game is nothing like the previous two Lost Planet games. There was a huge variety of mechs and vehicles, you could use the grappling hook anywhere, the monsters were huge and you had awesome battles. This particular entry changed the entire personality, gameplay, and tone of the series... And nobody liked or wanted that.
All the comparisons to Dead Space 3 in the comments make me want a necromorph kaiju.

From the trailers (i never got to play any of them) i thought that Lost Planet 3 became what Dead Space 3 should have been like and vice versa.
In the future of Lost Planet 3, they use the Emperor and the Primarchs as a mesaure unit for the intesity of a storm.

Knowing nothing about Lost Planet: this looks pretty interesting? The setting and cast seem fun, interesting and well done. Gameplay looks of the style at the time though. Why'd it flop? Too different from the OGs?
Yeah, its a drastic shift from the first and second game. Second Game is arcade fun perfection, even now, sooo so many years after release. This game is FINE on its own, but because it has the title “LP3” its an absolutely bizarre change for the series. Like if Metroid became Tomb Raider. “Why even call it metroid anymore just give it its own name or make it a spin-off”

This game seems to scream "360/PS3!!!" at me but it looks pretty good.
I'd watch some more. Could use a playthrough to watch and be entertained to be done with it.
There's a really grand scenic moment coming up with a rolling in storm you take the brunt of. Should at least play on through that.
The only thing that has kept me from playing this is the Rated "T" for teen on it. It looks pretty cool, might have to grab a copy

This game is actually very enjoyable if a tad glitchy. Rather well written and a extremely likable lead character.
Rented this game. Beat this game. And forgot pretty much everything about it.
Wouldn't mind seeing more from Lost Planet though. Dragon's Dogma is coming back so who knows? Although there are other Capcom franchises I would rather see back. Something like Breath of Fire or Dino Crisis for example.

This was so obviously a big effort, well written and crafted, with lots to like. Unfortunately it’s just not that great a setting or idea.

Considering that it was/is one of Capcom's best-selling franchises, I'd say yes it used to be alive.
The first 2 games were awesome, the online in 2 was very much alive for the whole PS3 life.
Shame its not Resident Evil or Street Fighter might've gotten a fourth

Also the screenshot when I click on the game he looks like Captain America. The game sucks it really does LP1 was the best out but LP2 was just crazy awesome
Capcom pulled LP2 off steam to apparently fix the GFWL issue that was November last year and they still haven't fixed it

This is nowhere near as good as the first two. The ability to use multiple different mechs and the designs were awesome vs one mech ( even it’s a big one) doesn’t compete imo.
As a huge fan of LP 1 and 2, I couldn't play even an hour of this game.
Any time I’ve seen anything related to Lost Planet I’ve never been able to bring myself to care in the slightest.
I love watching Matt’s stuff, but watching this didn’t change that in the slightest.
