    The trailer shouldn't even be on the road as the Land Rover registration is not displayed on the lighting board.

      This happened to me last week in my little Audi, although I wasn't towing a trailer. I was so frightened I had a rectal prolapse and splattered shit everywhere. The inside of my car smells diabolical now.

    The lorry could have easily mounted the curb to get past but no the driver had to slide along the curb hoping for the best.

    • @Waste1YT
      @Waste1YT 2 года назад

      Not without pinching and potentially blowing the tyre, not to mention the truck's rear steer would've swung the bin lifts into the land rover, doing far more damage than what was already done to that trailer (which i should add had no lights or number plate)

    • @interestedErvini
      @interestedErvini 2 года назад

      @@Waste1YT The driver could see that there was a small gap way ahead and could have easily curved it before meeting the Land Rover, saving a lot of bother and having enough space to get past, also believe me those tyres are tough going up a curb that size won't do anything these lorry's hit, scrape, clip curbs every day fully loaded and empty and it does nothing, your profile contains a waste lorry so I'd assume you should have already knew this. You could risk a blow out on sharp damaged curbs but this curb as evident in the video is not that. It's basically just a lack of forward planning and consideration taken by the driver.

    • @Waste1YT
      @Waste1YT 2 года назад

      @@interestedErvini That’s just not the case though is it? It’s incredibly unlikely that the truck driver seen the Land Rover when he would’ve been able to pull in anywhere to let it past (which he’s not obliged to do btw, they Highway Code states people are to give way to large vehicles, such as this) as by the looks of it he was stopped to empty the bin of the house on the right hand side of the video. We should also take into account it’s actually in contravention for the Highway Code for vehicles to mount the kerb and while this may not be enforced heavily by the police, chances are the driver will be pulled in by his gaffer for mounting it. The truck driver literally cannot win, if he goes up on the kerb he gets pulled in, if not some yob with an illegal trailer that’s clearly too wide for both the car and road blocks his way entirely. There is literally nothing else he can do but creep forward and hope for the best

    • @interestedErvini
      @interestedErvini 2 года назад

      @@Waste1YT You think he'd get pulled in for mounting a curb? Far far from it he's driving a bin lorry the company's don't give a damn. However companies do give a damn if the driver hits something, be that an old illegal trailer or something similar it's much more likely that will cause damage. This would bring a bigger issue as the company has to potentially repair damage on their lorry, plus deal with an unhappy local when the driver could have easily avoided it. Looking at the video even if he was stopped at the house he saw the land rover stop further on as the driver saw he couldn't get past nor get out the way. In that case if the smaller vehicle cannot give way the bigger one must work around to get through. In the seconds leading up to it reaching the land rover it was enough time and space for it to curb it and get past no bother but instead the driver decided to push on. Again as I said no consideration for the future.

    The lorry driver continuing past a wide part is bad enough but when he knew he cudnt fit past he could have pulled onto the footpath... If he can't judge a space like that I would assume that there will be quite a few wing mirrors on the ground when he gets into the housing estates

    • @stum8374

      The hgv driver should have stopped BEFORE the incident but the trailer should have been tight on the hedge about 8" but it might have been the drivers first time with trailer on,the hgv was probable empting his bin and the landi should have watched the road for large vehicles etc.

    To be fair the bin lorries tyres were touching the curb if the hedge was trimmed bk maybe the trailer wouldn’t have been hugging the white lines. Other than mount the curb there’s nothing more the bin lorry could’ve done but as you saw they bounced the trailer over a bit and it could easily get past.
    Morale of the story stop hugging the central white line as bigger vehicles need extra space to pass.
    Just an observation to be fair that trailer should’ve had a number plate showing and shouldn’t have been on the highway.

    • @madmikeproductionsuk

      I think it’s the fact the hedge growing into the carriageway is the problem tbh if it was cut back the land rover without a displaying number plate on the trailer I might add might not of been hugging the white line.
      Vehicles of this size need to access small roads constantly as long as there’s no restriction on that road size/weight the size of the vehicle is irrelevant. I’ve driven artics down roads like these regularly.

    Same as the new roads they just built near me. No where near wide enough for 2 vehicles. After it was resurfaced with a new pavement. And it’s a 60 limit. Will be a bad accident shortly.

    What's the betting that the truck driver proclaimed "not my fault mate" I'm afraid refuse trucks on occasion attract slopey shouldered, failed truck drivers who have no skill...to avoid a stationary object! Try him on a milk float.
