Love those early sets. They look like a radio with a screen. Nice size so don't take up too much room. You can imagine the families excitement when the technician installed the picture tube and set it up in their home, ready for Christmas. The finish? I would just call it Mahognut or Wallhogany. LOL.😊
It looks really nice Bob. You were very lucky to receive it undamaged for sure. Even double boxed, without packing and separation between the set and its box and that box and the outer box, you can usually expect damage. I'm never that lucky, as most items I order come damaged. I've pretty much limited my shipped purchases to metal or small items that are easily packed.
There was a movie theatre where I grew up that had turnstiles designed by John Vassos in the entrance. That was a golden age of design. Products not only had to be well made and perfom well, but look beautiful while doing there job. People CARED about the products they manufactured and sold.
For many years RCA ran a National Service Organization. This was one of the first attempts at "Captive Service". They sold yearly service policies on your RCA products. I think the instillation of these set's was a way to familiarize and introduce people to this service.
There are three color variations. Blonde (toasted mahogany), Mahogany or Walnut. The RCA parts list shows three color variations in the knobs, although mahogany and walnut had the same knob color. Yes, some mahogany was lighter than others. Can't tell which yours is, my guess is walnut.
Yes there are. I finally got to see a blonde in person at the early TV convention last spring - or maybe it was the year before. Kinda strange looking. I think the knobs were painted.
Bob, consider learning how to make resin copies of knobs like these. There should be some videos on utube regarding this kind of thing. There may also be small companies already doing this online, but it would be better for you to learn how to make these things yourself.
Beautiful little set. You were lucky to find a nice cabinet and knobs. It will make a nice restoration project.
Sharp Looking Set Bob -- Nicer looking than my 630TS. Hope You & Yours had a Good Thanksgiving.

Super cool Bob glad you found a good cabinet. Can't wait to see it working. Thanks for sharing this me I loved watching this video. Mike
Nice piece, looks good. Great end to a Thanksgiving weekend. Cheers Bob!
Amazing looking set. Love it.
Kinda hard to use without a cabinet. Hope you and your family had a good turkey day. 🦃
Looks great! A fantastic set that works great when restored!
Looks great bob and to bad the sides were scratched !
It’ll be gorgeous once you finish it.
Beautiful. Happy Thanksgiving (belated) Bob.
That cabinet looks like Walnut to me.
Yes, I agree. Not sure why I was leaning towards Mahogany in the video. Maybe bad lighting?

Radiodaze makes high quality reproductions. I have plenty of spare RCA knobs.
