My brother and I just got back from Foley, and I just love it. It was my first time, but my brother and wife has visited Orange Beach/Foley/Gulf Shores at least 4 times. Hopefully I will find my retirement home there. Absolutely beautiful and relaxing there.

They all have pretty similar water. So I would probably recommend the beach by the hangout, just lots to see and they have public parking. But overall you really can't go wrong! Enjoy your vacation!
It was still under a yellow flag warning for riptide? I was there with my family last year in late March of 2021 and they went from a double red flag, to a red flag the next day, and then to the yellow flag while we were there. We never got the green flag during our visit.

Have always found your videos very useful in planning & researching cruise destinations. I am extremely interested in visiting this area. I would be flying in, so I am very interested in staying in an area where access to beaches restaurants is walkable as I am hoping to avoid renting a car. Is this doable in your opinion and do you have any suggestions?
Hi Kyle!! So glad you're here!! First we are hoping to be cruising in September, so excited to finally be back on a ship!! I noticed driving around there's a lot of space in between these places because of condos, so your best bet is to find a spot close to the Walmart area or the hangout, I haven't stayed over here and friends I know have rented beach houses. I do have to say I am intrigued by The Lodge at Gulf State Park, a Hilton Hotel in the state park, super impressive newer building and looks like. Coffee shop and restaurants there too. Hope you find something perfect for your time in paradise!!
Do you know what kind of food is in the hangout? I eat in gulshores once it was a seafood place call Reeds, we peel our own seafood and put the shells in a bucket.
Yes, they had peel and eat shrimp, we ordered that plus chips salsa queso and guacamole.. . They also have lots of other food like seafood boil, shrimp basket... here is their menu ;) www.thehangout.com/menus/
I just discovered you today and boy am I glad I did! You showed so much that Google never even hinted at. Thank you so much for making these videos. (I also watched your Pensacola one and am going to binge your Vegas ones tonight because we'll be heading out that way later in the year for a wedding.) I've got a (possibly stupid) question though. A lot of the restaurants seem more "adult" to me. Is that just my imagination? Are there certain restaurants that are more kid-friendly than others? Our kids aren't rowdy by any means but I wouldn't want to be the only people there with kids. We'll be everywhere from Fort Morgan to Pensacola and whatever we have time for in between. We are all so excited and I can't wait to go down there!
Hi Katie!! There are lots of restaurants that are very kid friendly! Crabs on the Beach, Shaggys, Peg Leg Pete's has a kids playground downstairs, Flounders, Cafe Nola (really good!), Shrimp Basket. Basically almost every restaurant would be great except Grand Marlin and The Dock on the beach. Let me know if you have other questions too! Vegas was so fun we fit in as much as we could in that time and it was amazing, I am really glad you stopped by and so excited for you and your upcoming trip!! Good luck and enjoy!
Oh not sure how old your kids are but there is a splash pad now open at the Gulf Breeze at their community center (Dolphin Island Splash Pad) and the Gulf Breeze zoo may also be fun for the little ones, thought of your comment when I was researching some stuff ;)
@@GulfCoastGirl Between 8 and 13. We are going to check out Memphis Zoo on our way down and perhaps some caves. Still not 100% sure what we are all doing on our trip haha There's just so much to do that it's hard to narrow down the "must do" things!

Yes!! It makes total sense. You would pay some $ for public parking and its crowded. I couldn't find a spot last time I was at the public beach... its so easy to spend $20 on lunch these days. That place is nice and casual. I am sure you are super excited to get this vacay going!!

But When I asked him can I pay with a debit card, he said "oh that's fine. We get hundreds of cars coming through here everyday and card is how most people pay"
It's worth the $2.75 to miss the traffic on AL 59. You can get away with the free route during the winter months but March to October you can fugettaboutit. Pay the toll. Trust me.

That is tough to find free parking in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach, Florida Bama on the edge of Orange Beach otherwise every lot there was a small fee

Credit/ debit card is the fastest way to pay. I think it's may actually be faster than the Freedom Pass.
