Well done to Occupy Birmingham for pausing to question the insane status quo - and encouraging others to do likewise. How is it that we, the general public, have surrendered our right to freedom, land and livelihood so that the few can profit? Why is it that we have to pay simply to live (for land, housing and food) - or suffer the consequences? What makes us prepared to stand by and watch the total obliteration of the earth's ecology and the violent destruction of our own and other species?
@davidwatton - Agree with you 100%, David. I don't know what "Brum" means, but I 100% agree w/ you environmentally; all the people in my life can tell you that even more than theatre, I'm a fantatic about our Earth. I'm the Scourge of all time when it comes to plastic and waste!

You seem keen to label yourself as a 'liberal realist' but what does that mean in the context of global omnicide where flora and fauna are merely viewed as natural capital to be mined and converted to money? Unless we work together to dismantle the destructive institutions that are laying waste to what's left of the earth's ecology, I'm afraid that our children are not going to thank us.
