JJ's ability to talk about mental health with such vulnerability, and eloquently at that, is what just makes him a great human and a great player.

JJ as an analyst is just so pure on his input & research on teams. I truly shows his love for the game but who he is person definitely shines as well. Never got to see this side of JJ as a player. Looking forward to follow & achievement in his post career. Congrats JJ & sharing your story

31:12 so powerful. I feel many of us would be happier and more fulfilled if we got this concept.
"What makes a great show, what makes a great team, what makes a great product... is everyone starring in their role.
Go to a Broadway show and watch the person who doesn't have any speaking parts, who's dancing in the third row of the ensemble. They're totally invested in that scene.
And he talked about that with our own team, like your role may change year to year, but if you're starring in that role, you have value."

The vibe of "if you are not a top-five player you are a bum" is prevalent in the NBA these days and it makes it hard to watch. I am becoming less of a fan because of the diva-attitude. The NBA as a product is just better as a whole when you have players who can buy into their role. This is why I pull for the Suns and the Bucks.

@@db-hj9cu Yeah, I can see that. The fans say that kind of thing and then provoke players on Twitter, which the players buy into. However, as a big college basketball fan, I see the players coming through college who already have their own self-branded agenda. Some of the players come to college with a diva attitude. I think it a mixture of the players and the fans. But I definitely see how the fans critical voices set absurd expectations for players.

What a great interview. Taylor is so awesome. Empathy filled. Deep insight into JJ as a human being. I hope Jerry West watches this so he can forgive JJ for his plumber comments. :-) because after watching, you can't deny that JJ is a good person. Personally, over my lifetime, I have learned that if a lot of people seem to hate you, you're probably doing something special. I think clearly, JJ has always been doing something special. But like any other human being, the journey is real, and figuring it out is not easy. Obviously, he has done it well, and landed in a great place. Salute. :-)

Guys.. Every single podcast.. You have the wrong mics, Taylor does not have the mic pointed at her correctly. If you cannot set the mics up correctly you need "omni directional" mics. If you google podcast mic it says to get a cardioid mic but these only work when absolutely facing the mouth, Taylors is facing the ceiling.. The levels were vastly different, Cmon dudes..

Sometimes people will choose to point a mic, even a dynamic mic like the SM7B, slightly offset at an angle if they feel like the windscreen isn’t doing a good enough job. That being said, I agree that the levels were annoyingly off and the mic was still too far from Taylor’s mouth.

it is ironic he was overly critical of Barkley and calling him out numerous times for critiquing players, and even challenged Barkley credentials becos he never won a championship. Yet he was willing to praise Tatum, Lillard (even calling him a winner/ champion) when they have achieved much less than Barkley.
