Great interpretation & your sounds the from V Drums were better than I expected & I'm wondering did you use this V Kits Sounds or did you Program a specific sound to all of the drum heads you were using , as in snare/toms/floor toms et al You have extra V Drums & I was hoping someone would record all the synthetic drums sounds along with the drum cover playing as you could have done this & added a smaller box on your RUclips recording showing you playing which would be essential percusion but on saying that your the first one I've ever seen to use V Drums for the overdub drum parts & the fact your V Kit actually sounded great for synthetic drums , but there will always be those that believe in playing old fashioned drums especially when it comes to specific drummers were as I've always said " Why Not Use Both " as certain famous drummers have done so since V Drums came out all those decades ago... Tony Thompson was a well known fan of John Bonham but with " Chic " Bernard Edwards would act in a brotherly fashion & rein in Tony if he got to busy or that he needs to just play what's intended for " Chic " but when you here Tony playing for the likes of Diana Ross when Nile Rodgers was producing her & other artists you could hear that hint of Bonham... When The Power Station project came along he must have been ecstatic as he could let rip as Tony like John just naturally had a way of making his drums sound so powerful... Even today music fans & Pro drummer fans all wonder how John Bonham got his sound & there will always be ongoing opinions of: " It was the way he tuned them! " " It was how hard he hit them while playing! " But there's no denying he had his own sound that many drummers still to this day love & want to emulate it but I doubt many would want to use it constantly as their sound , as they'd want to find & create their own sound... Back to Tony: This was Tony Thompson's time to play the way he wanted to & was not going to have anyone asking his to take it easy as regards the sounds he creates while playing but if he was playing in a way that wasn't serving the song then Bernard would be the first to inform him but as far as I know Bernard never did... Even though there was a making of that album on VHS & I'd have to check if they cleaned it up & put it on 16.9 ratio or just automatic wide-screen & the point I'm getting to was it was too short as it was very small interviews with the band & maybe there's an complete version that's longer as they must have known that a documentary about this project was going to have alot of filmed footage & hopefully more insightful interviews but maybe this was all they recorded but 1 option of guessing would be John & Andy might have been too wasted to use the material that was recorded but I could also be wrong & I've always wondered Why was this only 30 minutes long?.. It seems such a missed opportunity if they only scheduled it for a 30 minute documentary as had 4 top musicians in Tony Thompson/Andy Taylor/John Taylor & lets not forget Bernard Edwards & the man with the rock soulful voice that was Robert Palmer... In addition I reiterate that your drum cover was great considering you used V Drums & you at least tried to play more of the drums played the other sqare synthetic drum pads & I honestly can't remember the company who made them but when used with drums whether original drums or V Drums they can add alot more to what your playing but to do the drum cover exactly like song would need you to do what requested earlier in comment & record those parts & then aye them in time along with the actual drum parts or get a percussionist to play it with you... There was a Percussionist hired by quite a few big bands & I honestly can't remember his name but he would have many of his drum attached to a frame that was up to a certain height horizontally & he had many toms on that , along with other drums placed in certain ways so he could stand up & play them with ease & if I remember correctly even Pink Flyod hired him for a tour & he plated with some the best bands but I can't remember his name but he did add that extra special ingredients that Percusionist can bring to a band... Again a great drum cover made so much better to applaud since a V Kit was used... In light of this still ongoing coronavirus and it's variants stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world... Ps RIP Bernard Edwards RIP Tony Thompson RIP Robert Palmer " Sadly Gone But Not Forgotten " .....
